Is it James Casey vs Martellus Bennett?

I'm with Catch. Casey is not a TE, defintely would not fit Bennett's role as an in-line blocker. That would be a bigger conversion project than having Casey work out of the backfield (which he's already done).

Casey, if drafted, would replace Cricket and push Crayton (or whoever ends up #3 WR) for reps at the slot. Casey would also be the wildcat QB and emergency QB on the team.

Casey could also be LS if Ladoceur got injured.

People thinking of Casey as a TE need to try and think out of the box and forget that label. Casey is an offensive playmaker. Wherever they put him on the field there will be a mismatch. He's too strong for corners, too quick and savvy for LBs to cover. And he'll be doing this damage from the FB spot, for the most part.

Listen yank, the kid can play. So the money and fame has gotten to his head a little, big deal he's just a pup and it's to be expected but make no mistake he's proven himself in half a season that he's above average. It's even been said he might be a slightly better blocker than Witten. Why trade a proven player for a rookie? That's not even laughable that's...well that's just plain dumb....:nono2:

You can't even comprehend what I laid out.

I never said trade one for the other.

It's about who fits where in the offense.

Dumb is calling me a yank.

And so is thinking that Martellus Bennett is worth a top 15 pick in the draft, lol.

Anquan Boldin, Braylon Edwards and Jay Cutler can't fetch that much, but in your mind Bennett is worth that much.

:lmao:

What he'll be asked to do is most likely what Tebow is going to be asked to do next year unless he greatly improves as a passer.

Plus if we run the Wildcat im more of a fan of the QB being a sledge hammer type (alas Tebow) instead of the quick fast type.

Nah.

Apparently, Casey will pick up on all the aspects of playing fullback at the NFL level by the time you're done reading this.

H Back.

What is this offense losing if the FB position is gone from this offense?

Nothing.

Deon Anderson hasn't done anything in two seasons as the FB.

Okay, I agree with that about Cricket.

But then why would Bennett have to go if we got Casey?

No offense, but it seems like part of the reason you started this was to complain about our inept personnel moves lately...

Exactly. But labeling him a TE, is so much easier to whine about. This country was created by brave and creative individuals who explored and tamed the frontier. Looking at things w/fresh eyes and willingness to try new things.

We need a little bit of that pioneer spirit, a little less of this oh woe is me attitude.

Talk about a head case, Boldin-pass. Butter fingers/head case B. Edwards-pass, Cutler got 2-1sts and a third, whatchoo talkin 'bout Willus? I said trade meaning give up, replace, insert, etc. Didn't bother reading the entire post cause the implication of giving up a proven player for a rookie gave me a headache. If you can't see that Bennett is head and shoulders above Casey right now then you be da foo:rolleyes:

No I started this to see how the offense goes out on the field with 12 players.

5 lineman.
2 WR's.
1 QB.
1 TB.
2 TE.

And one James Casey.

Who's leaving?

That second TE is leaving if Casey is on the field as the H Back.

Its not like Fullback is just this tough position to play either.

If he has a mentality to be a willing blocker than he should see some success at that position.

He has good feet and his heavy enough to play that position. Just teach him how to do it.

Teams can bring in DT's and Linebackers to do it on a part time basis. Just let him work on it and see where it takes him.

Exactly. Casey does not jeopardize Bennett's spot, he is threatening Anderson's spot.

Mosley said FULLBACK, that was substantiated by the official website, Eatman's article I believe. So all this talk about displacing Bennett is not just speculative, but incorrect.

Explain the H-Back positon.

Tell us who's a better H Back option: Casey or Bennett?

C'mon man, you are really getting melodramatic about this. You know good and well that a TE is removed anyway when Cricket is on the field (or a WR, depending on down and distance).

You should know this.

Well then it's a waste of a pick if Casey is going to be asked to do what Cricket does.

You can only have 11 players on the field.

Witten goes before Bennett.

to me because casey and get down underneath a players shoulder pads and block, whereas Bennett is too tall to come into the hole and get down, but on the side of the OT, i think Bennett would be the better blocking TE but out in space casey would be better to me;

Not if he is making plays in the role that we give him.
