Is it just me or do you not agree that deflategate is nonsense

It is a rule, really does not matter if you think a rule is important or not. If completion committee wants to change that rule great they should do it but any time you knowingly break the rule to gain an advantage that is cheating. Brady does not get to determine what rules he likes and which ones he doesn't
In all honesty even though I hate the rule...I don't condone Brady cheating, and he should get suspended. My issue is with the rule itself that's all. It's ridiculous and should be changed or at least looked at.

I do think it's a big deal because ...

1. It was against the rules.
2. It strikes at the heart of the integrity of the game.
3. It was the Patriots who AGAIN violated the rules, so they should know better.
4. The Patriots nor Tom Brady were forthcoming with the investigation - the Pats wouldn't let the investigators interview key participants to the incident.
5. Tom Brady has denied any role in the incident, which is INCREDIBLY hard to believe. So a ball boy deflates the ball without your knowledge. A ball boy on his own decides to tamper with the balls of Tom "Freaking Golden Boy" Brady, and we're supposed to believe this?
6. Kraft and Brady tried to make the NFL and others who believed in "Deflategate" feel shame for even insinuating that the Pats did something wrong, Kraft even having the audacity to suggest the league should apologize.
7. The league has come down on other teams, particularly the Saints, when there was no evidence that the "bounties" resulted in any opposing player being injured.

It doesn't matter if the Pats beat them 35-7 after halftime. Brady benefited from a rule being broken. This likely wasn't the first time this has happened.

I'm not a Brady basher, and I admire the Patriots for what they've accomplished over the course of this decade.

However, if Brady is not suspended a few games and is merely "fined," I think I'll be ready to join those who believe there's some conspiracy to protect the Patriots, something I rejected with respect to Spygate.

I don't disagree but as long as rules are put in place player should be expected to follow them, no exceptions.

Rules are rules. Break them, get punished. If not, then players should be able to take PED's, teams should be able to go over the cap. What's the big deal.

Saints got punished. Pats should be punished. BB should be gone a year. Standard has been set.

This deflate gate nonsense is blown way out of proportion? I could honestly care less if Brady had the ball slightly deflated because that is the way he preferred it. Now I certainly understand it was against the rules so they should get fined if its proven he did it...............but all this nonsense about suspending him for a year or whatever just seems ridiculous to me.

Thoughts?

Yea let's let them cheat & do whatever they want!

are you serious?

The Cowboys essentially broke no rules when front-loading contracts in an un-capped year. Nevertheless we were tried and charged. If we can be punished for knowingly going over the cap, whether it was wrong or not, then by that same logic the Patriots organization and all personnel involved should be punished. Even more so with their history. The fumble chart presented in the other thread is staggering. Patterns are taught at a young age people, square peg in square hole. NFL allows teams to handle their own balls, Pats fumble rate decreases significantly. Coincidence? I think not.

They broke no rules but they (along with every other NFL team) were told that if they front load contracts, those contracts will be treated as if the front-loaded amount was a signing bonus.

What is so staggering about the fact that the Brady-led Patriots have more fumbles than the Manning-led Colts/Broncos?

The cover up always makes it worse. Had he just said "no comment" leading up to the super bowl and then admitted it, we likely wouldn't be talking about it now. It would get brought up again when he is suspended, but then die soon after.

I think punishments should be doled out certainly. Harsh ones. Draft Picks, possible suspensions.

But I just laugh at anyone who puts a * next to their SB victory. That's just hater status.

Yes BUT.....it's a constant thing with the pats, cheating in some way and what they have done on multiple occasions has affected the integrity of the game, WAY more so than what the Saints did or the collusion where that lost us 5 million in cap space. The league needs to make an example of this repeat offender and it should be significantly worse than what the players and coaches in New Orleans got. Although we all know it'll be almost nothing.

There is no telling what the punishment is going to be. I'm sure the NFL does not want to put their golden boy on the bench but if they have showed anything in the last few years its that there is no consistency to how they handle violations. They hand out their punishment based on which way the wind is blowing.

If Goddell thinks he can get away with going light on Brady he will but if he thinks he will take too much heat he will bring down the hammer.

Absolutely it was blown way out of proportion. Any other team and no one cares.

If it was a team that does not win maybe but any other successful team that is known for cheating and it would absolutely still be a major story. I think a more accurate statement would be any other team and you wouldn't care.
