Good points pro and con. Thanks
Melvin Gordon too
Sorry but weak is that you factor no variables whatsoever.
It's NOT just stats.... "Come on, man!" ..... You know that.
Be nice. Lol
Im just not sold on Melvin Gordon anymore.
He was my favorite RB coming into the draft but I don't like how the guy runs in traffic after watching him more.
Right now, for me, I go Gurley, Coleman, Yeldon as the best fits for our team.

The scary thing with Gordon for me is that he played at Wisconsin where virtually every back looks great in college.
And that he is overhyped right now. I do not think he is an R1 guy.
Gurley is the best overall back but he is coming off a serious injury and is also being overhyped.
Gurley is good but he's not better than Trent Richardson was coming out.
All in all I wouldn't draft a RB R1. Just no need with the success round 2 and 3 guys can have.
My favorite is Yeldon. He is Gurley light. He is nearly the same player physically. He runs a bit higher and is more of a slasher so avoids more contact. VERY similar running style to DeMarco. But he has more speed. He was banged up last year but played through it. That actually hurt his stock a bit. But his 3 year college total is absurdly good. And he did that with multiple R1 RBs on the roster for Bama the entire time. If he could have left as a freshman, IMHO he would have been a top 15 pick. I don;t think he warrants that but if he is there at the bottom of round 2 this is my dude.

Im right there with you man... It's all about Yeldon...
Although Tevin Coleman has so much upside.. A year or 2 in an NFL weight room and he could completely go to another level.
Right now Yeldon just seems so much more NFL ready then a lot of these guys. I guess all Bama players do though.
That's fair I guess.
Illogical variables can be better than none?
Obviously Murray had never had a big workload until he had a crazy, career year.
It was an insane outlier.
All factors being equal McFadden would have been the better bet LAST year.
Now one year later the narrative on each guy has changed 1000-fold.
Now 99.99% would take Murray over McFadden hands down.
I am not saying I am in that .01%, but I am saying perhaps we are basing farrrrrr too much on one season.
The variables are being considered by those defending McFadden's signing.
It is just the variables his detractors ignore:
OL
Coaching staff
Culture
Offensive system
Franchise QB, TE and WR in place
Not sure how you can knock Melvin Gordon's production at Wisconsin under the guise of every running back being productive in that offense, and then hype T.J. Yeldon, who also played in an offense where every running back has been productive in the scheme (see Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Derrick Henry). Both backs have a lot of ability, but are completely different players.
Gurley, I believe, is a special runner, but there is some concern coming off his ACL tear. It is very likely that Gurley won't be back to his old self until his second year. For me, I would go with a David Johnson, who may be the most well rounded back in the class.
If you would agree that there are things that affect "a run" which I am sure you do then they can't be illogical.
This is not about who would you take Murray or DMF. THAT is illogical. One is no longer an option. Nor is it r point here.
sorry but no.
logic is real easy.
mcfadden rushing totals were higher than murray prior to 2014.
so it follows that one can not logically state prior rushing totals have any proven correlation to ability to rush behind this line or to stay healthy.
You can be sorry all you want.
Didn't say rushing totals. My post was about injuries and piss poor play around him.
But...
So you are selectively picking certain years. Ok. 2011 to 2013 McFadden does not have more yards than Murray.
Let's see with this line.
that was NOT the argument.
the argument was:
mcfadden can't do what murray did last year because he had poor rushing ATTEMPT totals and was always limited by injury.
which again is illogical from the stand point murray had never had higher rushing ATTEMPT totals than mcfadden entering the season in question.
there is NO relation between prior ATTEMPT totals and last year.
which means there is really no relation between murray last year and this year either.
BOTH logically and statistically, neither player is likely to top 1500 yards or 270 carries in 2015.

~~Sigh~~
My post was about DMF and players around him whiffing etc...
Anyway... I'll buy you a beer when he helps lead us to SB50 win!
You're acting like we just signed the McFadden from 2008 who many thought was going to be something special. You need to stop dreaming that was numerous injuries and 7 years ago..
All factors being equal McFadden would have been the better bet LAST year.
Now one year later the narrative on each guy has changed 1000-fold.
By asking about his pros and cons AND believing maybe he can make some noise behind this line is not dreaming..... Hoping yes!
Some can't wait for injury just so they can be right.
Not me.
