Is it ok to start talking about it?

While I agree they could have gone either way, we did not run the ball well. If in game 2 against them we run the ball like we have the last 4 games, I think we domintae them as well.
That's fine . Purely subjective. Im not going to attempt to dispute your perception or opinion. I agree with parts .I'm more result oriented about evaluating what happened not what could or should have happened .

My response only deals with this year. IF we can continue on the path we are on, 5-1 and could be 10-2, I am all in favor of bringing Ro Mac back THIS YEAR (addresses your MLB), and Gregory back game 15 (hopefully addresses your edge rusher). Hopefully by playoffs, assuming we make it, they both will be hitting their strides.
I love the idea, but I wonder if Ro is keeping himself in shape. Getting Gregory back would be a bonus.

Yeah, I am not sure RoMac makes that much of an impact here, this season.

Maybe he will realizing he might be playing for his contract life now.

If we get Ro back, Mamacita, and much to the chagrin of many Zoners here, it will be a huge boost heading into the post season. He is a monster, and god willing, we has stopped with the Purple Drank and has bought into this team.

Same with Gregory, lord willing he is buying into being a football player, and lays the herb at the wayside.

We have a team, Mamacita, there aren't as many holes as there were in '14 :)

Blurred by the constant Dak/Romo and pass-rush discussions, the much larger picture here is bigger than we could have ever imagined.

Even bigger than the picture of just this season, is that the team looks poised to be very young and very good for a while. Hopefully adding Jaylon Smith at full capacity this season or next, plus a solid draft on the defensive side of the ball means we could finally break out of the up down, up down cycle and have a few good up years.

Any team that starts the year 5-1 and does at least one thing other teams cannot counter (in our case run the ball) then they should have Super Bowl aspirations.

It's a long season though....so do try to enjoy the ride everyone.

I really like this thread. We're fans and we have the right to dream big. This team has given us great data to work with. We still need a little more. Still early but I have a great feeling about this team also. Right now the focus should be on Philly however! Yes, I like my mindset to be in line with what the players should be thinking. In my mind.. I'm really on the team.. seriously. :yourock:

Anyone else NOT scared of the Vikings?
I think the Vikes are overrated right now and they will be exposed in the next several weeks. It's funny but I think there is going to be a team in the
NFC that will come out of nowhere and get hot in December to make a run (Seattle, Phoenix, GB or maybe in our division)? I think we will also make a run but I think we will also have a few down games coming up (perhaps this upcoming Phili game)??
I just hope that if those down moments come to our DC, that we get back on track and make a hell of a run in December.

Arizona and GB are done, Den. But I agree, a contender could come out of this division not named the Cowboys. It will be fun.

Let's just enjoy the ride, and not get too far over our skis on this one. Things can change on a dime in terms of injuries. The Cowboys have been fortunate to not have been bit with a season ender at a position with little depth.

It's looking good so far, but there's a lot of road to be traveled.

That being said, I'm looking to go to the Minnesota game.

Fans can talk about whatever they want ....... I do not understand the pump the breaks or put away the anointing oil threads.

Thats just guys trying to sound cool, like they are above getting excited.

If you want to start a thread about us winning the Superbowl or Dak and Zeke being rookie, league, and even superbowl MVP ..... go for it.

The threads we start on a message forum has nothing to do with the final outcome of the Cowboys season.

People should get as excited about this team as they want too ...... I know I am.

Without a doubt, your most inciteful post ever.

Your post sums up my feelings exactly.

Quoted it because of the skiing reference. I know exactly what that means. The worst injuries I have gotten skiing were when I was in the zone and everything was going great. Right up until my confidence allowed me to get just a bit to far over my skis.

I would like to see how this team responds to having to dig themselves out of a hole. Not suggesting they can't do it. Just haven't seen it yet.

I think it's super important for us to play in Dallas in the playoffs.

I want the bye and I dont want to not go to Minny, Lambeau, Seattle, or Atlanta.

True, but I thought we didn't have a home field advantage?

I'm not afraid of Matt Melt though, he usually screws up come playoff time.

I am not getting over excited about anything, I am just enjoying this one win at a time.
As each win we get, or a loss by the other 3 teams in the division gets us a step closer a playoff spot.
It's all icing on the cake with each win while watching what can be a very good long playoff runs. With some young and dynamic players of our future for this long playoff run.

I think we are close. Kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop in a big game for Dak just because every rookie QB gets jitters. It's one thing to get thru Lambeau as a rookie, another to get thru NFC Conference Championship games and the Super Bowl.

I think we are in a great position. I think anybody that wants Romo back right now isn't thinking straight. Far better to have him when he's needed. Meanwhile, he can rest and get more ready.

I think the improvement in the secondary has been a very big change that doesn't get a lot of talk. Carr and Wilcox look competent. Clairborne looks pretty good. Anthony Brown looks fantastic for a rookie and Byron Jones has room for improvement, but is still a solid player. We can now play a lot of zone or man coverage.

The only team I question that is superior to us in the NFC is Minnesota. There's certainly teams that can beat us, but I think as far as being flat out superior, it's Minnesota. However, they play n a domed stadium so I think that reduces some of their HFA.

It ought to be pretty interesting once Dez gets back into a groove. We haven't had both Dez and EE in a groove playing together, yet. We've seen how well we stretch the field horizontally with Dak and EE. With Dez, we can now stretch it vertically as well.

I will say where Dak reminded me of Tom Brady was in the first drive against Green Bay. Most QB's would slow things down. Dak and the offense marched right down, executed perfectly and sped up the offense to make a quick and easy score. It didn't entirely deflate the Packers defense, but it made them aware that it was going to be a long day in stopping the Cowboys offense. That's something that Brady does extremely well weather it's at home or on the road.

YR

Agreed on all fronts besides Minnesota. They are loud up there, and it would almost be better to play outdoors up there to reduce the noise. They designed that stadium so it would be just as loud, if not louder than the Metrodome. One of the best home field advantages in the NFL.

Amidst this unexpected season of drunken celebration, there are quiet questions brewing. And no, I'm talking about Romo or Dak or a crazy world under whichever nutbag wins the presidency.

I mean questions nobody feels right asking.

This golden crop of rookies, combined with defensive suddenness and a man-eating offensive line, has us riding a wave of hope that nobody saw on the horizon in Oxnard two months ago. Somehow, the league turned upside-down, and brand-name powerhouses are falling to pieces. Who exactly is good, and who isn't? Nobody really knows who from what right now.

What we do know is that our Cowboys are 5-1, and that 10-6 should win this division handily. My extreme powers of deductive reasoning tell me that's a given for Dallas, and that the Cowboys are a shoo-in to win the NFC East unless a meteor hits Frisco, Texas on a Wednesday morning.

So, what's next?

I've scoured this schedule, and I find myself - dare I say it - actually looking for losable games. There simply aren't many. (Did I say that out loud?) The ding-dong Cowboys are suddenly dang-damn good.

They aren't going to win out, surely, but who's going to beat them? Pittsburgh may not have Big Ben. Baltimore just can't score. The Eagles look limp. The Giants are a mess. Who? Nobody wants to play against this offensive line. Just ain't fun. Who out there in the NFC has the goods?

Such is stirring up the questions. First, is the focus now about home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and second, is this a Super Bowl team?

Somebody shoot me now and get it over with. I'm talking the crazy talk. I should probably have my posting privileges revoked before I shame you all. Stop me before I implode the internet.

Look at that schedule. 13-3? No, I'm being serious. 14-2? Is this team going to the Super Bowl? Then who is?

Blurred by the constant Dak/Romo and pass-rush discussions, the much larger picture here is bigger than we could have ever imagined.

No, I don't think it is far fetched that we are a super bowl contender this year. I think you might be wrong at 10 and 6 wins the NFC East this year "handily" in light of the fact that NO team in the NFC East currently has a losing record, and may not all year. The win over the Commanders is looking bigger by the week.

I think barring injuries, we are a contender. The AFC will probably be the Patriots' all the way this year. Current power rankings show 4 of the top 5 teams in the NFL in the NFC. I would really like to see no NFC East team make the playoffs other than Dallas, but that may not happen. In fact it would be plausible for both of the wildcard teams to come out of the NFC East.

I expect Dallas to make the playoffs. I expect us to win the NFC East. The Vikings, Seahawks and the Falcons all have very good teams, and would be a pretty worthy opponent in the playoffs. We would be better off getting home field through out the playoffs but there is a lot of football to be played.

The Vikes appear to be the front runners now, but I am not sure how well they match up against the Cowboys, Seahawks or Atlanta. I am not sure that they will have enough offense to keep up with these teams, unless their defense is as good as Denver's was last year. Their defense is good, but I have my doubts that they are '85 Bears good, or Denver 2015 good.
