Did Austin or Hurd have a chance to do anything against the Giants? Yes or No

I already know the answer to it. You can't produce if the ball doesn't come your way.

Part of it coming your way might also have to do with your ability or track record to hold onto the ball let alone actually gaining separation and getting open.

just in case anyone interested;
Briefly: Wide receiver Todd Lowber practiced for the first time with the Cowboys after signing earlier in the day. ... Through the first three days of training camp, the Cowboys have drawn 19,500 fans, including 4,000 on Sunday.

Staff Writer Todd Archer contributed to this report.

I just shake my head at some threads.

Well I'm happy to see this wasn't one of them, unless you typed that response with your ear.:)

Yet, Kevin Boss was in year 1...Steve Smith was in year 1...David Tyree earned a Pro Bowl in year 2...Point was, we keep hearing about these WRs developing but see very little in terms of real contributions

Smith had 8 catches on the season. Wow
Boss had a whooping 9 cathes and is a TE wow
David Tyree is a 6 year vet who by the way had 4 catches on the season

Are you kidding me this is what you think is great?

By the way in year 2 Tyree had 10 catches and he went to the Pro Bowl?

Yes, because Steve Smith and David Tyree have proven so much in regular season games. Thanks for the insight.

Yeah, definitely care more about the regular season...Hmm, 2 regular season wins against the Giants versus one loss in the playoffs to the Giants...Hmmm, which seems more impressive

I never want to overpay. I absolutely do want to acquire a WR opposite TO.

This goes back to my point about them not getting the oppurtunities to do anything in the playoff game. If you think David Tyree is better than Sam Hurd because he caught a nice pass in the Super Bowl then by all means have fun. You obviously cant admit wrong.

Frankly, I dont consider the 32nd pick, 96th, carpenter, and hurd as overpaying.

that probably wouldnt do the trick though

Thanks for the feedback guys.

If someone could assure me Owens plays 25-30 games these next two years at a high level and is close to 100% for the play-offs, than I'm fine.

Here's what concerns me:

1) Owens' is 34. Most players hit the wall at this age if not younger. Injuries or just an overall drop in performance is just around the block.

2) Our offense is so much more prolific with him on the field. I'd like to reduce thew impact of losing him to injury now and reduce his necessity over the next two years.

3) We don't need a PB WR to play opposite Owens. But it can't hurt. And if the player is 5-8 years younger, he can be a nice bridge to and beyond Owens retirement.

4) I think we all agree that this teams invests heavy in WR in 2009. There are no assurances a top WR will be availible in FA or the draft. Especially where we're drafting.

If it can be done, why not overpay for a sure thing now. Reap the benefits in 2008, 2009 and beyond.

When Sam Hurd can pull off a catch like Tyree did in the Superbowl against a team like the Patriots in a moment where it was do or die (Not even a regular moment during the regular season where our backup WRs did little to nothing), then let's hear about these no names...Obviously, you are lacking from poor knowledge

I think Dallas may add a vet WR to the mix but I just do not see the team giving up draft picks right now to get a WR. I think if Dallas was going to do that it would have been done before the draft or during the draft.

That's what I am predicting, as well...They'll give the early preseason a go and see what shakes out with the backup WRs...If there's no real progress, it'll be waiver wire city as other clubs trim their rosters and let go of vets

Yes, and now Tyree is on the verge of being cut. HURRAY! what a legend.

I guess you think more highly of Tyree than the Giants do.

I really don't see why some of us seem to think acquiring a #2 WR with some proven skills is considered a luxury.

If we remain healthy in the passing game, and we didn't down the stretch last season, then were fine. But with some more proven depth, we could afford an injury. Even one that would befall TO. Of course we would have to skate by on Romos coat tails.

If we had a solid #2 plus a healthy TO, then we would be dominant. I'm all for dominance. :)
