I can not for the life of me understand how this is the big game guy for CBS and now NFLN. He is terrible. It's like he is not even watching the game. Or he's announcing to a bunch of kids who don't understand football and just learning for the first time. He will make statements such as "Bailey had a chance to catch that ball and pick up many yards".

He is also the announcer on Madden this year. He is the same on there. One of his lines word for word in that game was "it's better to play from ahead than behind".

There's a reason why BAD Radio on The Ticket devote whole segments to him weekly on how bad he is.

There are a lot of bad announcers and Simms is just in the mix. Anymore I try to follow the game with my eyes more than my ears.

Sorry but Sims does not bother me. I find Mike Tirico, Al Michaels and Joe Buck to be much worse announcers.

agreed. I cannot stand Joe Buck, guy openly roots against Dallas and I'm convinced is a jinx to the cowboys

just for ***** and giggles I would love to know Dallas' all-time record in games announced by that idiot

Nah, Simms doesn't bother me at all. He says dumb things but he makes good points too and I don't sense any agenda. The Sunday morning ESPN pregame idiots are unbearable though, as well as the "Football Night in America" schmucks. I refuse to watch them...

Yeah Simms is terrible. Joe Buck I don't mind so much. I find it humorous to hear how much others are annoyed by him.

That quote is no worse than John Madden's "The Dallas Cowboys have 2 types of plays, running plays and passing plays."

He (Simms) is a tool, but at least he played....I cant STAND Joe Buck.

Madden was at least entertaining and was beloved by many. Simms is anything but on either count. He's a spare in the booth.

I don't mind Simms, he at least explains things so kids CAN understand it. It's a good learning tool for them.
If they understand it, then the game can interest them more.

Joe Morgan did this in baseball, he would say something,,then explain it. What a good way for kids to learn.

Can't stand Joe Buck. I used to not like Aikman, but he got better, but now seems to be regressing.
Al Michaels can be tolerable at times, other times, not so much.

I think this has more to do with the matchup than them 2. Seeing as when they do our games, it's a big game against a good team. Our records in those such games over the years is not good because we can't beat those teams.

I also can't stand Joe Buck. Only has a gig because of his late, great father. He's even worse calling baseball games. Absolutely no enthusiasm and is mundane as can be. No passion for either game. Aikman is hit or miss.

I enjoy Kenny Albery/Moose much more than Buck/Aikman. I like when the MLB playoffs starts and Buck takes a few weeks off from football.

Simms brings nothing at all to the broadcast Nantz saves his behind. Honestly though, there aren't many good announcers these days .Al Michaels and Jim Nantz are really the only good play by play men. I think Moose is a great analyst and Troy is good but sometimes it seems Troy doesn't wanna come off as a Cowboy homer and in doing so he bashes the Boys to much. I think Brian Billick does a good job as does John Lynch but they are stuck on the D team. For the life of me I can't understand how Brian Billick can't get another coaching gig when people like Jay Gruden and Bill Brian get jobs. Oh, but I have to say Jim Lamply and Max are awesome calling those boxing matches.

Tony Siragosa and Darryl Johnston are probably my least favorite with Chris Collingworth and Aikman being my favorites currently.

Simms is OK. Not great, not bad, just OK.

The one knock against him that I have is that he is rarely if ever critical of quarterbacks that are playing in the games that he announces.
