Boomer and Torico are the worst. Buck is still up there too.

Love Moose and Kenny Alberts. Billick is good too. Nance has slipped but I can tolerate Simms.

I can not for the life of me understand how this is the big game guy for CBS and now NFLN. He is terrible. It's like he is not even watching the game. Or he's announcing to a bunch of kids who don't understand football and just learning for the first time. He will make statements such as "Bailey had a chance to catch that ball and pick up many yards".

He is also the announcer on Madden this year. He is the same on there. One of his lines word for word in that game was "it's better to play from ahead than behind".

There's a reason why BAD Radio on The Ticket devote whole segments to him weekly on how bad he is.

I agree with you. I can't stand his announcing. He does something I hate that Billy Packer used to do in college basketball. He'll make a point about a team and then no matter what happens in the game he'll force the action to match his original point so it frames himself as some sort of football genius. Gary Danielson does this in college football as well and I absolutely hate it with a passion.

I like Harlan/Gannon, Gumbel/Green, Nantz/Simms, Albert/Johnston.

I don't like Michaels/Collinsworth, Buck/Aikman, Tirico/Gruden, Dedes/Wilcots.

The rest get apathy.

I like Gruden and Collinsworth but their pairing more than make up for that. I am ambivalent on Aikman.

I like Gruden and Collinsworth so much that it makes up for the fact that I don't like Tirico and Michaels. I can't stand Buck and what makes watching him worse is that I don't like Aikman(as an announcer) either. He's a bit too Captain Obvious for my taste.

I think you are putting the cart in front of the horse. I think you listen to too much sports radio for your takes. What they are doing is quite literally how a smear campaign is conducted using negative bias to select what the audience sees. I have no doubt he makes mistakes but who doesn't.

There is nothing wrong with being Captain Obvious. John Madden was the greatest Captain Obvious there ever was and who didn't like that guy.

He is an idiot. It is better to play from ahead than behind, though. :) He's the worst.

Captain Obvious and zany is fun. Captain Obvious and reserved adds nothing of value ... for me at least.

Simms is OK. Not great, not bad, just OK.

The one knock against him that I have is that he is rarely if ever critical of quarterbacks that are playing in the games that he announces.

He does seem to protect the Qb or make excuses at times blaming other players.

Then again he did play Qb in the nfl so he may be right on several occasions when he does this.

But overall I like Simms.

I don't understand all the threads that get started about hatred for diffetent announcers.

Gruden is funny. I don't know why all the gruden bashing. He's energetic and animated. Different from what I grew up with but so what.

Al michaels is the best play by play guy in sports. Love al michaels.

Don't know why an announcer would bother someone unless they are a total homer for the rival team like the eagles radio announcer merril hodge.

I think this has more to do with the matchup than them 2. Seeing as when they do our games, it's a big game against a good team. Our records in those such games over the years is not good because we can't beat those teams.

I also can't stand Joe Buck. Only has a gig because of his late, great father. He's even worse calling baseball games. Absolutely no enthusiasm and is mundane as can be. No passion for either game. Aikman is hit or miss.

I enjoy Kenny Albery/Moose much more than Buck/Aikman. I like when the MLB playoffs starts and Buck takes a few weeks off from football.

You mean his late great father, who use to call Cowboys tight end Pettis Norman,Norman Pettis

Are their two different men named Phil Simms and some of us get one guy and the rest of us get another? That's the only thing that can explain this thread. Simms is one of the best sportscasters covering football. He's the best at staying unbiased. I can't believe anyone would compare him to Theissman. Theissman just talked to hear himself talk and spewed biases. Simms also avoids the trap of hammering the same point to death. Collinsworth used to be really bad about that, though he's improved. Aikman does that some, though he is a good announcer.

Anytime I find out Simms is going to be covering a game, I think, "Good! I get to watch a game without being annoyed and with comments that are actually insightful." To
answer the question, Simms is not the worst. He's one of the best.

Exactly what I was thinking. Simms does a good job imo......

agreed. I cannot stand Joe Buck, guy openly roots against Dallas and I'm convinced is a jinx to the cowboys

just for ****s and giggles I would love to know Dallas' all-time record in games announced by that idiot

unfortunately his co-host Troy does the same thing. They mentioned the Cowboys loss about 10 times in the first half of the Eagles/Seahawks game.

I used to really dislike Troy when he did a Cowboys game because he went way overboard trying to prove he is not a Cowboys homer. I liked him much better when he was commentating on a none Cowboys game. I will say that lately he seems a little better toward the Cowboys.

I think Simms is somewhat bland in his commentary but his knowledge of the game is commensurate with what most good announcers should have. There are many announcers that I've considered less qualified than him in the area of providing useful information. I can easily find him tolerable and worth listening to.

Simms has a speech disorder. He orphans nouns in verb-less sentences. He was also a dick to Michael on Inside the NFL this week.

Really? I'd rather listen to him and his idiot partner Jim Nance than Joe Buck. They are better than tirico and gruden as well. Seriously, I lose IQ points just waiting for gruden to make coherent sentence.
