Is there any question Dallas needs to keep Gallup?

You have to choose between Cooper and Gallup. Before the season I was team Gallup - Cooper is just crazy expensive.

After the last few weeks, I've kind of changed that position. Gallup is electric and makes great plays, but Cooper is consistently to be feared by defenses. I have a hard time trading out Cooper to keep Gallup.

Agreed that Cooper is the best WR on this team by far. DCs are far more worried about him which helps Lamb and Gallup. Since Cooper has been out Lamb and Gallup have been covered tight.

I've said as much for the same reason(s).

This team will regret losing Michael Gallup.

Of course they will regret it. Who wouldnt? But he isnt a must sign. This team won 6 in a row without Gallup and the offense played off the chain.

Cowboys need to fix this Oline.

LOL...........you cant be serious. Lamb is clearly the #1 in Dallas. If that isnt apparent to you after this year, then it never will. Cooper cant even stay healthy let alone out play Lamb.

Gallup missed 4 games this year because he got injured too this year.
This is the only time Gallup has gotten injured in his 4 years with the Cowboys.

You are stretching badly if you want to compare Gallup to Cooper when it comes to which one is a healthier WR.

Name one qb who doesn’t have issues with WRs who can’t create separation. And Dak throws into some of the tightest windows I’ve ever seen. You even watch the games?

Rodgers, easy. Let's not pretend that Dak doesnt have chronic issues with throwing behind receivers. He's gotten a wideout cut because of it.

Davante Adams led the league in separation. You want to give it another shot?

Yep. And how was the offense without Gallup? How about the offense without Coop?

I love Gallup, but the Gallup v. Coop argument is silly. Coop is the guy that opposing D-coordinators game plan to stop. Gallup is an incredible #3, and a good #2, but Coop is a very good #1. We can't lose him.
If we have Coop and Lamb, whoever the #3 WR and TE is will look good and get their open looks.

Gallup will walk and it will be sad because he is a good guy and good WR, but we will re-sign Wilson and draft a speed kid in the mid-rounds and be just fine.

I disagree I think paying him a lot of money would be a big mistake for this team. We went 6-1 without him and while he’s a good player I think we can find someone to replicate what he does. He takes our offense to the next level when he’s a number 3 wr but if he wasn’t surrounded by cooper and ceedee he doesn’t really move the needle or ceiling of a team.

real solid player but not one we HAVE to sign and NOT a number 1 wr

It’s a bitter pill to swallow but RG94, Dalton Schultz, and Jayron Kearse are free agents and higher priority than Gallup and the big offer he’s going to get elsewhere. Hopefully he can help us get a ring while he’s here 2 more months, because there’s no way we can afford to keep him and let any of the 3 names I mentioned go.

Schultz needs to learn how to block. I bet Gallup blocks better than he does.

I think Wilson is back. They'll view him as a cheaper "Gallup" type. I can't imagine Wilson getting any really big offers that make him too pricey for us.

maybe
My understanding was that he is an extremely reliable pass catcher but he had several key drops recently

Something seems to be off with this entire team (except Parsons) recently including the OL

It's basically Gallup vs Lawrence, Cooper or Zeke. In order to keep Gallup we will have to part ways with one of the following... Lawrence, Cooper or Zeke. So, you have to ask yourself, which of those guys is Gallup more important than?

Lawrence with Zeke re-working his contract.

I respectfully disagree. Cooper’s route running will allow him to be a great wr for a long time. Love CeeDee but without Amari he isn’t going to be open as often.

Does he deserve a big contract with Dallas. Yes. Would it be in the team’s best interest to keep him? Without a doubt. Will we be able to keep him? Unfortunately I see no way we can afford him.

- I don't see us paying big for a 3rd WR.
But no question he offers a great luxury in terms of 3rd WR mismatches, and if Cooper or Lamb get injured, hes' a terrific No.2 type fill in.

- Many brought up Ceddy Will as one that makes us not miss Gallup, but Ceddy is not the goal line jump-ball weapon Gallup is, nor provides the physicality, contested catch
WR that Gallup also provides.

- But the mystery will have to be await if we will continue with the Amari Cooper contract, per 20+ million per year,
.. or seek out the escape clause option to get away from Cooper contract and go more with a Lamb, Gallup duo, while we have Wilson, and another developmental type in the waiting.
assuming Ceddy does not depart in FA.

Completely agree, what I would do is let Gallup go and put that money toward Gregory - then thru either mid level free agent or mid level pick - get a Breasly type slot receiver, thats what this offense is missing, a get open quick type a guy - a chain mover - especially for the times when the O-line aint protecting well.

I am not as high on Schultz as most. He's slightly above average at best. To me he benefitted significantly from skilled players we have around him. His blocking is atrocious.

I really like Gallup but I would keep Cooper over him. We see a dramatic drop in WR production when Cooper is out and of all three WRs only Cooper has shown that he can carry the WR group.
