Is This A Big Game?

no I'm sure it happens to others and happened to other Cowboy QBs. But the level of stupidity that is sometimes spewed along with rather Romo and company win big games or not is what bugs me.

The same people, fans, media, whoever, that are saying he never wins big games, never wins games that are must wins, were the same people who last year said the 2nd Giants game was huge. The second Commanders came was huge. So on and so forth. But the minute those games ended, and the Cowboys won, it was then like "Oh, no, we didn't mean that was actually important or a huge game. Nah, not at all, we thought it was just a regular game. They still don't win anything."

So I just don't bother with labeling a game as big or not anymore cause it won't matter either way. The only way it's a big game is if Dallas loses. At some point, when we win a playoff game, they'll find some way to make it out like that wasn't really all that big a win either, just another routine one, and the focus will then switch to something else. It is what it is I suppose.

It's different though because the Giants game was big, but at the same time the Giants didn't view it as a big game. They already had their playoff spot pretty much. The Skins game was big because both teams were desperate, but Romo didn't even play well that game.

The team needs to show it can beat a team with a winning record.
In that case, this week isn't a big game.

The schedule for Denver is brutal from here. If should lose there next 5 games as I suspect, that puts them at 3-5 at midseason with two of thier wins against Cleveland and Oakland. This won't look like much of a big game by then.

I believe this is a big game for many reasons. For one, the Cowboys are trying to stick in their with their division rivals. This week rival games consist of the Giants facing the winless Chiefs which im chalking up as a victory on Giants record, Cowboys are facing undefeated Broncos which will be a tough game in Mile High Stadium, the Commanders will be facing winless Bucs, and the Eagles will have a bye week.

Another reason for this being a big-game is because the Broncos are underfeated and have yet to be beaten. So that means nine times out of ten Broncos are favorites and Cowboys are underdogs, which is a good thing for the Cowboys.

I believe another reason why this will be a big game for the Cowboys is to see if they can execute against a winning team instead of an 0-3 team.

My answer: Yes this is a big game.

I have to say ..... I am a little surprised and dissapointed in some of the names in the "only if we lose" section.

Its an undefeated team we are facing ..... and there are a lot of question marks about our own team ..... and this is considered the "easy" part of our schedule.

I think this game is huge.

Oh well.

Of course you do. It's pretty much a guarantee the Cowboys win the game.lol

Yes. Only because I'm in Donkey land. Already started. :banghead:

Local guy's on the radio this morning going back to last years 'critical' pre-season game  .............plus the superbowl bound fans here. You beat the raidahs and they're chanting 'Bring on the Pats'!

There was a fellow in an earlier thread boasting about 15 pro bowl players on their roster. He HAS to work here..............probably sits right next to me.

I consider all NFCE games crucial not necessarily big, but crucial as long as we're in contention.

The big games are the one's that will take us to the promise-land.

BTW, I'm not a part of the can't win a "big game" crowd, nor am I on the "brainwashed" section.

I'm mostly on the win or take me to the Super Bowl "side" - This is Dallas Cowboys football after all. Super Bowl or bust baby.

Are you still here?

Isn't the T.O. show on?

I don't think it is.

Non-conference opponent and Denver hasn't played anyone.

It's definitely a big game. Like everyone has said, every game in the NFL is huge. So as a Cowboys fan, this game is big for me.

But, the media will spin this as a big game only if we lose. If we win, you'll hear "Denver was 3-0, but they beat Cincy by a miracle play and their other wins were against Oakland and Kansas City, a combined 0-6."

I think we need to stop worrying about what the media thinks. We know how they'll spin the importance of any game based on the outcome. If you remember the game vs. the Packers two years ago, it was HUGE. 10-1 vs. 10-1 (or something like that). But once we won, "Well, Dallas was the best team in the NFC so they should have won that game." Or when we lost to the Giants in the playoffs, "Romo played terrible in another big game." Romo was solid, not spectactular. Romo also didn't miss a big tackle on Toomer before the half that allowed the Giants to get points. Romo didn't give up on a route and cost Dallas a TD. AND his one INT was on the last play where he just had to toss it into the endzone and hope a Dallas player caught it. When ESPN showed a "Romo in big games" clip last week, they showed the INT to the Giants in the playoffs. Are you kidding me? That's the same play the Favre made this weekend, just that he was lucky enough to have it caught that time. How many times is that exactly play run in close games and almost always ends with an INT.

I'm done venting. Forget the media. Positive Cowboys thoughts from here on out. As Hostile says, "Embrace the hate."

When we miss the playoffs by one game the previous year, every game is a big game.

AMEN to that.

It is a big game because it is a W we should get on the road. We have already lost a home game so we need to beat the Denver's and KC's of the world on the road. We have tough games in December so we HAVE to not have another Rams situation this year. Sorry Denver..It is true.

Would the week 6 game against the Cardinals last year have been considered a "big" game?

Probably not by many of you since we had only one loss on the record at the time and it was an out of the division game.

Refresh my memory though... How many more wins did we need to get in the post season last year when all was said and done?

This is a big game. If for no other reason then it is a game that we should win, just like the AZ game last year. You just CAN'T lose the games you are supposed to win.

Invesco will be rocking and is a tough place to play for any team. The Broncos have a lot of confidence right now. These teams are pretty evenly matched and will come down to the team that can run the ball the best.

how is it a trap game when Denver has the better record

I don't know ask Vegas why we are favored by 3.5 on a short week on the road.

You're one of the few Broncos fans from that other thread that I really hope I'm dead wrong about in regards to whether you'll comeback or not if things turn out bad for the Broncos. I suspect you won't, just like the others, but I'm hopefull that you'll prove me wrong on that should we win.

I'll be back. If you guys win I will give your team props. If you lose it will be a circus around this board and I will try not to rub salt in the wound.

I voted only if we lose. The reason is, if we beat Denver, no matter how bad, people only look at that as beating a team who is made of paper. Sure, they are 3-0 on paper, but they really are not that good in reality. They fluked into a win against the only "real" team they played all season. The other two teams they played are 31 and 32 on 100% of the power poles that are published. Their QB is one bad game away from being benched, their best receiver is a bigger cry baby than TO, and Eddie Royal simply decided he would take this season off.

I think this is an easy win, but nothing to be impressed by. The Chiefs will probably give us a better game.

It doesn't matter who Dallas beats or doesn't beat. If Dallas beats a team, it will be because of "this" or "that". Never because Dallas just downright beat them.

It is still a BIG GAME. Philly and the Giants are strong. And winning. Dallas needs every win. The Saints? Look at them. One of these teams will fall, lose a couple and that is why Dallas needs every win they can, they can slip in the back door. Hence, making this a big game. As will the week after, and after that.

And EVERY GAME against the rest of the NFCE is a big game.I don't care if Dallas is crap and the rest of the NFCE is crap in any particular season. Those games are always huge.
