Eli was never elite. Just lucky.

His wrs, rbs, o line, and defense.....might have been.
Exactly - he was the benefactor of two of the most historic defensive playoff runs in history. They averaged giving up 15PPG.

He was also extremely lucky on dropped INT’s. Three as a matter of fact vs the Niners in a championship game.

Average QB at best who lived a charmed life.

If Dak shows up for this contest with the 49ers with the same presence that he displayed vs. Tampa, I'll be tickled pink. In fact, I thought the entire team put forth their best effort of the season in that game. A similar performance would surely elevate the team and Dak's reputation convincingly. I'm quite confident that the 49ers will present a more productive running attack than did Tampa, however. It'll likely take another fine outing by our defense to make a convincing win possible. Hopefully, our players will make sure to display the same intensity throughout that upcoming battle.

The defensive intensity from the git go was what stood out for me in the Tampa game. They were simply unwilling to let Tampa get anything going pass or run. The 49ers have a decent o-line but their running game is more about scheming you up than beating you up. I think that should actually work to our defense's favor this year over last year because Hankins gives us a physical presence inside that is not going to allow them to play any tricks to generate running lanes. Big boy gonna be in their backfield. And even when he's not in their backfield he's not going to be moved off his spot so their inside trickeration aint gonna work. That's going to free up the LBs to go run and hit. I also loved what MuKuamu brought to the secondary. With him and Bland out there I don't expect to see a lot of YAC for the 49ers. And I really hope the rookie is cocky enough to try Diggs.. That could turn into a 3 pick game for him..

Not just that but don't forget to two muffed punts by the Niners kick returner (Kyle Williams) that setup the tying field goal at the end of regulation and then the winning field goal in OT. Eli had zero to do with either of those plays yet gets credited with a "playoff win." There really is no substitute for watching the damn games is there..

I knew if he played well against the 8-9 Bucs some of ya'll would just forget everything from the past 7 years.

I called that from a mile an away.
I put alot of value in that win though. Brady and Rodgers have had the Cowboys number. Up until beating the Bucs Monday I was still mad at them losing to the Packers because I felt that had a big part to play in their downfall the remaining games. Cowboys are talented but it’s the mental aspect that has always concerned me. The Bucs game is a game they would normally lose or barely win. But the beat the crap out of them like they were supposed too. That gives me hope going forward.

Even if he matches his stats from last game, the Cowboys could still lose.

Beating the 49ers must be a team effort and the defense must show up once again.

Dak playing elite is a minimum standard as far as the entire team is concerned.

I don't care if he plays "elite" I just want him to get the ball out and not take dumb sacks and hit the open receivers. Oh yeah, no mind numbing pick 6s either.

Just like your 8 win prediction and claiming that Cooper Rush is a better qb. You call them like you see them.

Got any proof of this? I didn’t vote and I’m sure there are a few that switched sides, but 200? I think everyone knew that the bucs weren’t a good team as most of their wins came in last two minutes. If Dallas won the game, good job doing what was expected. Win at San Fran against a legit team and you’ve given most of us more than we’ve had in two decades, don’t and I’ll continue saying he’s not good enough in the big games. I’m not moving sticks or goals, I’m just not making the goals easier bc of one game either.
This is the definition of moving the goal posts. He did something no Dallas QB has done since 1992. Win on the road. And he looked incredible doing it to. Say what you want about the Bucs but they were in the playoffs. Everyone is giving the Niners accolades for beating the Seahawks who were 9-8. So if you want to go down this road. I think that its fair that San Fran has to beat a legit team too. Have you seen their last 10 opponents? You cant have it one way for us and another for everyone else. My big issue is which Dak shows up Sunday. The one from Monday night? Or the one from Washington?

Yes. But some Dak haters are now saying that the 49ers are paper tigers. Almost 200 people here picked the Bucs to beat us, some of those said after the game that the Bucs are trash.

The targets will always be moved by the ones who wished death on him, wished he would get injured and the ones that always root against because they say he's trash. Those people will NEVER give him the credit if he pulls off that accomplishment.

GO COWBOYS!! :star:
You’re probably right but at least it will lessen their ammo in targeting him.

If Dak performs, on the road again in Palo Alto and plays with the efficiency that he played with in Tampa... I think that people will start to view him differently.

A tale to be told - Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. One thing for sure, he was on a mission against TB. Helps that then D was back in form.

If Dak plays in Palo Alto I guarantee you the Cowboys will lose because the game will be in Santa Clara.. about 20 miles down the road. And yes if he goes to the wrong stadium people will definitely start to view him differently!

Could he become the first QB since the 90’s to lead Cowboys to a championship game appearance?

And will he be the difference in finally knocking down that wall?

This is a great opportunity for him to get the monkey not only off his back but the entire franchise .

Can he take us where many have felt we’d probably not go again this era under Jethro?

If he can and if he continues playing his best ball on the biggest stages then he’s likely to vault more into the Elite category so many have denied him without more postseason success.
Dak won't be elite, but he will look like he is as long as the defense is aggressive and the run game is effective.
This will allow Dak to play complimentary football that will look as if he's the man.

Perception is a big part of it.

Having more success in the playoffs will definitely increase his image . And defuse the criticism .

Here is how this will play out...

If Dak starts winning in Playoffs...its because of others(defense, strong oline)...

But if we lose....IT IS ALLLLLLLL ON DAK ONLY

lol

With this fanbase, there are 2 ends of the spectrum.

The Dak apologists are going to say "if we win, it's because of Dak. If we lose, it's a team sport."

The Dak haters will say "If we win, it's a team sport but if we lose, it's Dak's fault"

Duh, haven't you noticed this? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Those doggone goalposts have wheels on 'em! They keep moving.

I like Dak. But he won't be elite in my mind until he's ALOT better in the red zone and two minute drill. We do not need a effffing 14 play drive when there is 2:00 left on the clock.
Sorry you missed the last game.

My issue with Dak has been consistentcy.
He played lights out against Tampa, but had that stinker the week before against the skins for example.
I know even the great ones have bad games, but Dak is so up and down.
If he could even out his performances, it would be outstanding.
That's the whole thing in a nutshell. Dak is capable of excellence like he showed against Tampa, but the very same guy is also capable of a terrible performance like against Washington the week before. But then the team has produced back to back 12 W seasons. We've beat decent teams and struggled with poor teams. Up and down just like you said.
