Been reading all the threads here and listening to constant ridicule on the media of Jethro and Team.

There doesn’t seem to be any optimism from anyone.

Even some of the diehard homers on this board have disappeared or changed their tune.

A lot of lifers here, do you consider this the lowest the fanbase has ever felt about the team?

I remember paper bags on head in Landry’s last year and Jimmy’s first year.

Fans were low after the Campo years until a rejuvenation shot of Parcells.

But is this the worst it’s ever been?
except for perhaps 1989

Looking back...was it really that cool.

Im the same age as you.

Is it really that cool to see a team with unlimited funds plow through other teams? Only if this is all about money and not sport...so dont side step.

I was young and loved those teams...but reflecting on how much advantage Dallas had...it diminishes it a bit for me.

I have posted here numerous times about how basketball games at the local rec get ruined by young kids forming super teams, or there being one guy that is like 7 inches taller than everyone ruing the fun games. who goes to the local rec to dominate other than a grifter?

Jerry supposedly spearheaded the cap implementation for the League...and parity makes the viewing product so much better. You...you are promoting LSU vs Southeast Montanta State type matchups.....which ruin college ball with the 55-3 scores. Who wants to watch that? Sure...it makes Southeast Montana State money....but no one wants to watch that.

Im kinda over the Jimmy 90's Cowboys talk.........its like a lame pop-warner coach putting a kid 60lbs heavier than everyone at running back. Its trash. Jerry might not be about winning for his team, but the cap thing is way better for the viewer of football
1992:

Average player salaries: Dallas: 19th
Average starter salaries: Dallas: 16th

So, since we didn't buy those teams, are you ready to not side step? Your info is erroneous.

Yes.

I'm 45, and I haven’t watched my team in a Super Bowl, or even an NFC Championship game, since I was 16. That’s brutal. I can’t imagine what it’s like for these young fans in their 20s and 30s. They have no idea what it’s like to see their team truly compete for something meaningful. At least I spent years holding onto hope, thinking something might finally break our way…...but we all know the history.

Now, here I am, dealing with the reality of a front office that’s a complete joke. As a fan, it’s just crushing.

I officially checked out last year when they gave Dak that ridiculously stupid contract. Look around the league and you see teams moving on from players like him. But what does Dallas do? They double down. That was a sobering moment for me. I decided then and there: no more emotional investment in this team until real, significant changes happen. Sadly, those changes might not come until Jerry leaves this Earth.
I've been sitting back and laughing at this clusterfudge for several years now. I will reinsert my emotions when Jerry starts making wise decisions. Until then, my defense is to laugh at it all. Whiskey helps.

the whole fanbase has made money off of jerry grifting, yet claims they hate him

lame species with lame creators as 'parents'....that doesnt know how to self reflect on whats best for existence

it just caves to greed
What? Explain how we've made money off of Jerry.

Depends how you look at it.

There have been plenty of periods and rosters that are way worse than this one.

The difference is HOPE. Since the kid basically took over, they have proven that even if they DO actually draft well enough to make their plan work, they will still refuse to do what’s necessary to get over the hump.

So what’s there to do from here? HOPE that they have a few great drafts to get back into contention only to watch it fall short again?

You have to have a plus something….a very talented roster, or too notch coaching. The former isn’t possible with draft only, and the latter isn’t possible because Jerry has to be the star.

The only chance is a Burrow type of situation, and even that would be short lived, and is up against nearly impossible odds to happen.

Yet here I am trying to reason how people that have NO idea what they are doing can somehow succeed.

The window you speak of was shut when the salary cap was implemented and Jerry couldn’t buy his team. He’s done absolutely nothing, and will continue to do nothing in the salary cap era.
He didn't buy those teams. It was Jimmy making smart draft decisions and trades. 19th in average salary. 16th in starter salaries. That was in 1992.

Only player Jerry "bought" was Deion, and that was after the cap.

Burrow made the super bowl on the strength of his DLine and the DT combo of Ogunjobi and Reader. Top 5 DT combo. When we start w/ that, then we have a chance.

well I wasn't great about it... we had an unknown coach, owner, went 1-15 and had just fired Tom Landry.

No way we knew good times were coming at that point
Although one thing we had back then was a local media with spine. LOL

They let Jerry and Jimmy have it!

A lot of receipts collected after those Super Bowls.

Ohhhh, contraire. I was excited that we were getting top draft picks and expected good times to follow. That's what happens when a team is on the bottom, you start getting some top shelf players that lead to contention.

Probably, the only other time that may have come close were the Campo years, but we were closer to the 90s SB then so there was still the memory of greatness.

Also didn't hurt that rumors were already leaking about Parcells being signed before Campo was even let go.

Yep. It was bad during the Campo years but we weren't being bombarded by all this social media from insiders describing confusion and lack of direction in the front office.

They couldn’t have “bought” those teams.

They were a SB Champion in 92, free agency began in 93.

I don’t disagree, but it does probably have to start with a QB that’s in the top handful of the league….not one that “better be because I pay him that way.”

Yep, the interior DL was huge in that Cincy run, another position the football geniuses don’t value.

It even dropped down further in 93. Team salary was 23rd. People still think Jerry sat by with a blank check and bought those championships. It was the niners #1 in team salary and jimmy’s team still manhandled them! Niners are the reason Jerry fought for the cap and rightfully so.

We had no idea it would be temporary at the time. The team was 3-13 the previous season and got worse. That was the all-time low point for the Cowboys. The team only won 4 games in two seasons. That was far worse than going 7-10 this past season primarily due to a crazy amount of injuries. What makes this particular season so demoralizing for the fan base is seeing Washington and Philly reaching the Conference Title game. The 29 year drought of not reaching a title game and SB while the other teams in our division have has taken its toll on the fan base.
No it wasn't, it was one season. The current crap has been building up for decades up to this point and now we're hiring new coaches again. Anyone who thinks we'll go anywhere is a fool.
