Has there ever been a moment where Dallas changed a player's position (not even talking about switching from offense to defense) that worked out for the player?
Mark Tuinei was an DL converted to OL.
I believe Randy White switched to DT.
Of course that was when the coaches knew what they were doing.

Several players took on the role of Rowdy as well…but now that is Spaulding“s job. You know Jerry…keep it in the family. :muttley:

I can only guess that this move is because of some obscure NFL player mercy rule.

Alcaron was simply too good. They have to start him fresh somewhere else for a handicap to encourage parity.

I kinda like it honestly. Although he might be seen as a charity practice squad roster spot at this point, I think if the man has got the strength to go with his size I don't see a problem with a developmental d lineman.
Gosh forbid an effective d-tackle emerges, lol.

Here is 1 ex-Cowboys player who started on the team on Defense but made the switch to Offense and became an All Pro and 3 Time SB Champion...

Mark Tuinei parlayed a chance to walk on with the National Football League (NFL) Dallas Cowboys as a defensive lineman into a 15-year career with the Cowboys as an offensive lineman from 1983 to 1997. He was a two-time all-pro selection, 1994 and 1995, and he helped his team win three Super Bowl Championships in 1993, 1994 and 1996.

If Mark Tuinei could do it as a walk-on, Isaac Alarcón has a chance.

True and the simple fact it is costing Dallas very little do find out and yet we get people complaining about this? Hell the man does not even count against the roster

Jerry doesn't want to alienate that massive Cowboys popularity south of the border.
If this doesn't work maybe he can play center for the Dallas Mavericks.

Isaac Alarcon shifting over to defense

Just like the XFL, the back of his jersey could read "marketing gimmick".
could read test drive as well. I don't expect much regardless if he stayed at OL or trying him out at DL. If it works out great if not then Dallas lost nothing

Don't understand the fascination with this guy.. If the Dog can't hunt then it is what it is, it just can't hunt.

So I guess turning Alarcon around to play DL is going to cure his weaknesses and deficiencies evident in his OL play. I guess Jerry & Son will give him another 3 years to claim a spot on the DL. Who needs to draft for the DL when you are employing this strategy!
