PPV numbers don't equate to McGregors pockets. There isnt any way he was going to make this kind of money on a straight MMA fight. Floyd is greedy and is looking for additional big payouts yes, and this presents the best opportunity, but he is already made more money then Conor could possibly ever imagine fighting. So yes, Conor needed Floyd MORE THAN the other way around.

This is the most fair way to do the fight. Floyd is fighting for legacy. Conor is the one that challenged him to a boxing match. Why? Because thats the only way he gets the payday he is looking for. Floyd didnt go out there promoting that he could win an MMA fight, which would be stupid.

Yeah boxing pays more than MMA. You're not breaking news here but Mayweather as a big PPV draw is a thing of the past. Check the numbers.

Conor challenged him to a fight not a boxing match. You don't even know what you're talking about. This was two years ago. But he said he knew, like anyone with a brain knows, that Floyd doesn't have the guts to fight Conor without the rules he needs to survive. So he'll box him if need be.

A pure boxing match doesn't do a single additional PPV buy than an MMA fight would between the two. Floyd can still bring his boxing. Conor can bring his full tool set too. Now we can see who really is the better fighter.

Conor is a fighter.

Floyd is a boxer.

If they met on the street this would be a laughably one sided beatdown. Which is why Floyd's people are already threatening a lawsuit should Conor do anything but box in this. They're not interested in a real fight. They know better.

Again, this is a dumb thing to say. He has NO experience kickboxing. Conor McGregor at least has boxing experience.

Conor has no pro experience boxing. He has no pro or amateur experience kick boxing. I'm beginning to think you're a complete waste of time to read.

An MMA fight between the two allows both to bring their strengths into the fight. A boxing bout doesn't.

The original point of MMA is to bring different disciplines together to see which is the best. This is the perfect example of that. The problem is only one man will be in that ring.

I don't see McGregor going 12 rounds. I think he gets stopped in the middle rounds out of sheer exhaustion.

I really, really hope he head kicks Floyd though. Take that POS out. Lawyer up and deal with the consequences later. Show the world how harmless a boxer is against an elite MMA fighter in a true fight.

It is plainly obvious to me that your entire take is that you just don't like Floyd, which is your prerogative, but it definitely skews your opinion, and makes you look like you don't know what you are talking about.

I'm surprised McGregor agreed to a straight up boxing match. At least kickboxing would have been better.

Why are you surprised? He's going to make more on this fight, then any other fight, and Floyd has no incentive to do anything except straight up boxing

Don't like Floyd? He's the best boxer possibly of all time. Liking him has nothing to do with it. If you truly want to have a contest between two fighters of different disciplines do it with a ruleset that allows both fighters to use their strengths. Otherwise it's not a true contest.

He's probably the best technical fighter of all time, but all around, nah. He doesn't crack the top-5.

How does this thread qualify for the Sports Zone? It was perfect in "Off Topic". Then I guess Rocky Balboa vs Thunderlips also qualifies as Sports Zone material. Or how about Bruce Lee vs Muhammad Ali? :lmao2:

No "sport" involved with this exhibition. Mayweather won't lose this with boxing rules in place. Let them go at it in the octagon.

Can't wait.....whatcha got cooking that night for the fight @Trouty
Wings? BBQ? Burgers? Nachos?
I'll have the little one, so maybe some BWW to-go, Loc! We both **** up some BWW :)

6 Mango Habanero, 6 Fire, and an order of bacon cheddar fries. A ton of ranch and bleu cheese. Some BBQ wings for the little guy. He gets pumped for these PPV events. He was all in on the last Rousey bout, too bad she got her face punched in :)
