Yeah boxing pays more than MMA. You're not breaking news here but Mayweather as a big PPV draw is a thing of the past. Check the numbers.

Conor challenged him to a fight not a boxing match. You don't even know what you're talking about. This was two years ago. But he said he knew, like anyone with a brain knows, that Floyd doesn't have the guts to fight Conor without the rules he needs to survive. So he'll box him if need be.

A pure boxing match doesn't do a single additional PPV buy than an MMA fight would between the two. Floyd can still bring his boxing. Conor can bring his full tool set too. Now we can see who really is the better fighter.

Conor is a fighter.

Floyd is a boxer.

If they met on the street this would be a laughably one sided beatdown. Which is why Floyd's people are already threatening a lawsuit should Conor do anything but box in this. They're not interested in a real fight. They know better.
Lol two guys wrestling on the ground is boring as hell, why u think in a street fight when it goes to the ground the people usually break them and stand on their feet again. I think u just like seeing Conor in spandex lol

This is why McGregor is the true A-side.

Lmao if you really think Conor is the A side. Floyd didnt fight in 2016, so you have compare Floyds fight numbers to Conors and guess what, Floyd is the A side. Also Conor can land a big left all he wants, he is not dropping Floyd, its gonna be funny seeing how limited Conors stand up game is that night.lol

He may never land a punch.
Professional boxers have trouble landing on Floyd.

As I've said... unless Connor goes rough house. He ain't got a chance to even hit him.

Historically these types of "fights" end up being less than a joke. Pathetic really.

Wrestling and boxing are both boring if the fighters don't engage.
Watching Mayweathers fights are heinously less exciting then watching McGregor.
I've seen both 5+ times.

And if Conor lands a big punch to Mayweather he will rock the hell out of him.
But I am not sure he can land a punch thrown at 50% power much less one thrown with all he has.

Mayweather is arguably the hardest guy to hit in the sports history.

This is "interesting" but I'm not sure how "sporting".

As sports go Boxing sucks compared to MMA and if this fight was an MMA fight it would be much, much more fun.
---BTW, expect they do at least discuss running this back in an MMA match after Mayweather wins this boxing "exhibition:" easily.
After all, 125 or so millions reasons to do so.

Fact: people would rather see two top fighters in boxing than two top fighters in mma. Just check the ppvs.

Mayweathers fought big punchers, Maidana had over 90% ko percentage and hit mayweather pretty good, still didnt drop him, same thing with Mosley

Boxing has a rich history and I grew up on it.
But MMA has been the fastest growing sport for a decade now and has surpassed boxing for top cards recently.

In 2016 MMA produced 5 cards that drew over 1 millon PPV buys.
Boxing produced 0. Yes, 0.

MMA has its issues to be sure but it has far more household name power and recognition working for it because it has innate built in ranks of fighters to elevate over time.
Boxing has bigger issues as it's top stars are all ancient and nearly done or retired altogether.

But beyond that anyone with eyes can see what is more exciting. MMA features different styles and much faster fights for more fights on a card.
Boxing features 1 fight anyone wants to see on any card and it lasts a couple hours.
MMA is a far better sport for the modern mentality and attention-span.
The sweet science has simply never modernized. Too many fights go to judges and too many fighters just cruise through fights trying to get to a big pay without taking any punishment.

you also might wanna note the guy running the ufc is a former boxer who hates wrestle humpers.
the org rewards knockouts and finishes as well as just great action packed fights with bonuses.
the crowd boos like crazy if a fight has a lull at all.

I agree with boxing being lame and the fighters fighting careful and going to judges.

But... sorry.... MMA is NOT household name.

People who don't follow boxing still even know a boxers name here and there. Not the case for MMA.

If Boxing is the NFL then MMA is like SEC

Floyd Maymeather is the Patriots...best of the best.......great defensive mind with a strong punch as well
McGregor is LSU, not even Alabama.... loyal rabid fanbase but not quite realistic

You think they are playing the same sport but if NE played LSU it would be 100-0

McGregor will not get a dime of the purse if he goes MMA dirty on Floyd.

I think it's in the contract. I heard it. Didn't bother to look. Lol

yup....Wasting your money to watch Floyd run....then get a majority decision. I seriously don't think I have ever seen Floyd hit anyone....yet he's collected over 400 million in revenue. Disgusting. He will never get a dime from me.

Yeah I'm not sure who is still paying for boxing matches and ppv anymore.
Boxing was good before UFC became a thing but then it became a snooze fest by comparison since. The fighters are terrible the sport is terrible to watch and it's more dangerous than mma.

That may have been true ten or more years ago...it is not true today.

Here are my thoughts.

Who says Connor is going to fight like a Boxer?

I personally believe Connor has no thoughts of boxing with Floyd and he is going to go into this fight with the mind of a MMA Striker that is handicapped by the rules.

Even though it is a boxing match I don't think he is going to participate in that style of striking.

He will stand like a MMA Striker and he will throw like a MMA striker.

I think he will be calm, cool, and calculated like he always is and punch like a MMA Fighter (which he does at the highest of levels) and not a boxer.

Makes you wonder...

You rarely meet someone that is a real boxing fan.

I guess MMA doesn't do as well in the PPV ratings because of the time it's on for other countries and the fact it just hasn't been around long enough to take over the rest of Europe.

I can't imagine boxing PPV's do better in the states.
