Good post!

We are pretty much built for this sort of game. Big physical D and the running game is working.

IF we can limit mistakes and turnovers, I think we just pound on the Giant front DL with a shot of play action to keep them loose. Shutting down Barber is key but Manning can hurt you this year so I am more worried about how our defense holds up vs our offense.

The last two weeks, Strahan and Osi have been killing people. We really need to use screens (I know we suck at them) to slow the rush. We can't have Bledsoe taking 7 step drops because he is to slow to get to the spot. On D, containing Buress and Barber is the key. I always get nervous during these type of games. Hopefully being on Monday night vs a division opponent will give us the edge we need.

as already stated i think in order to win we can't give up the big plays by the pass, run, or special teams.

turnovers will be key also....

i think getting witten more active will be huge as well.

Key #4, Julius and Barber need to average 4.5 yards per carry and catch a few passes. The Giants LBs will over pursue, that means screens and draws can be huge for us.

It's been a long time since we've been any good at screens. Now that we're finally getting good at them, we need to use them more often.

The key to keeping this under wraps, we're going to have to spread that defensive line out.

Yea I agree gotta keep the pressure off Bledsoe, move the ball on the ground, and play the kind of defense we ought to be capable of.

We need to stop Tiki from having a good day, and JJ/MB3 need to have good days.

Flozell and Colombo better be ready.

As much as we think (wish, for some) Bledsoe will suck, IMO, he'll have a good day, AS LONG AS Strahan and Umenyiora keep their hands off.

On Defense, we need to get pressure on Eli.

If we do this, and avoid the abominable yellow flag, we'll be fine.

I think so too, but let's discuss how they can be accomplished. Pick any one and draw blood.

All I can think of is that game last year where the Giants had like 13 sacks.

The reason is simple. They are 2-0 in the division and we are 1-1. If they are 3-0 and we are 1-2 that is a hill we don't want to climb.

So, let's hear your theories on how to get the job done. How do we beat the Giants?

I'd love to see a serious football thread with no baiting and whining, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Key #1, we have to make Eli beat us not Tiki Barber. Now, Eli is capable of doing this, but we cannot allow Tiki to give them a ball control edge. This also means that we put Eli under a lot of pressure. We need to hit him like he stole something. Pressure, pressure, pressure.

Key #2, we can't allow the Giants DE's to get on track with their QB sacks and pressure. This is something we have to focus on and keep Bledsoe upright in this game more than most others we play.

Key #3, for the love of all that's holy, we have to quit inviting the yellow laundry. The penalties are mental errors more than physical errors and that is a trend we can't afford.

Key #4, Julius and Barber need to average 4.5 yards per carry and catch a few passes. The Giants LBs will over pursue, that means screens and draws can be huge for us.

Key #5, we need to take the ball away, but not give it away. Always a key IMO.

Key #6, lastly we cannot get caught up in another hype game like the Eagles. Yeah, it's MNF but that doesn't mean we need players hamming for the spotlight. Just do your jobs and win the game. That's so much more important that shining for the bright lights.

We have to stop Tiki, even if it means no pass rush on Eli...must stop the run first...period. WE have to run the ball.... a lot.

Keep the game close and hope to win at the end....that's the only way this team can win on the road against a good team.

I think the Giants will be favored by at least 6.

I actually hate the possibilities of this game after seeing what the Giant's did to Atlanta this afternoon. This one scares me badly.

Ok. On offense, BP has got to get away from that 'I've got to establish the run first' mentality. In this game, I think it imperitive we spread their D, immediately taking advantage of the mismatch's we can create with TO, Terry, Crayton, Witten, Fasano too. (I think this would be a great game to give Fasano alot of shots - as little as we've used him this year, it wouldn't be expected.) We beat their DE's rush by tossing quick - either 3 step drop or shotgun - short routes. Dink & dunk 'em to death. We can even go 'no huddle' if necessary. If sucessful, this will build Drew's confidence for progressively longer passes and make establishing the running game that much easier. Once both are going, we've got them where we want them.

Defense. Time to take off the blinder's Bill. Turn 'em loose & let them see what they're capable of. Full blitz package. Yes, we may well give up a couple of big gains, but I firmly believe we win the turnover battle decisively. Our db's are capable of having very good games but we all know they've given up some serious yardage this season. Unrelenting pressure from the front seven & any blitzer's thrown in for good measure will only help these guys.

And for cryin' out loud, enough with the damned penalties!

We haven't had that all season. In fact I think we didn't come close to running enough against Philly.

But we have been a pass to set up the run team this year.

The Giant Game.....I would say, after losing to Philly, it's the closest thing to a must win game as it gets.

D.....We must keep Tiki in check, have someone in Mannings face at all times we can't let him get comfortable, break his confidence.

O.....We must beat the blitz, Run the ball, and if possible protect Bledsoe.

Spread the D and throw slants and quick hitters to TEs, RB's etc.
It is a must win. After this we are at Carolina, at Washington, and at Arizona for the next 3 weeks. That is a brutal stretch. We cannot go into a road trip like that on a loss.

Whoa, a thread where we are actually talking football. Thanks hos.

But I agree with everything said. I really think we win this game, I really do. I think it will be close, because I always seems to be that way against the Giants.

But I think its real simple, win the turnover battle.
I couldn't stomach another whine fest about QB or "the player." So I had to roll the dice.

We need this win AND a win against Carolina. This team needs a legitimate win streak and to beat good competition. If we can get to Washington without any losses, I think we can look at the rest of our schedule and maybe do some business.

Ironically, though, if the QB can make a quick decision or two and throw an accurate ball, and "the player" can build on this game, TO should absolutely rape the Giant secondary. They really are bad.

Just trying to get us back to our regularly scheduled whining....

I'm glad you think so. I do too. This is the kind of team we should be able to beat by out hustling them. This is a game where our defense can come into it's own. The Gayants use their 2 backs well and their TE and WRs all bring something different to the table. The thing is though, there are no matchup problems where we are seriously outgunned. They can't say the same with their CBs on our WRs.

Draw plays will help too and we ran them good today. That was encouraging. This is a game where Witten can have a big role as a safety valve.

Our tackles against their DEs is a mismatch.

That said, not nearly as much of one as last year, and with Gurode's emergence they are considerably softer up the middle.

I'm not worried that much about it unless they blitz, but they are not a blitzing unit like Philly is.

This is a game on paper we should win.
