Key #3, for the love of all that's holy, we have to quit inviting the yellow laundry. The penalties are mental errors more than physical errors and that is a trend we can't afford.
Yeah I haven't been active on here this season, but is it just me or does it seem like the Cowboys are giving up a ton of penalties every time I see them play (which hasn't been a whole lot since I work Sundays and live in nj) and I have been surprised because I thought Parcells would have tackled that problem by now...

The reason is simple. They are 2-0 in the division and we are 1-1. If they are 3-0 and we are 1-2 that is a hill we don't want to climb.

In addition to what you mentioned above... we need to beat them because we have only beaten the bottom feeding teams. We need to beat a quality team!

as already stated i think in order to win we can't give up the big plays by the pass, run, or special teams.

turnovers will be key also....

i think getting witten more active will be huge as well.

Love your sig... hope you can make room for another SB at the bottom :D

We have to stop Tiki, even if it means no pass rush on Eli...must stop the run first...period. WE have to run the ball.... a lot.

Keep the game close and hope to win at the end....that's the only way this team can win on the road against a good team.

I think the Giants will be favored by at least 6.
That is very interesting. On the surface I agree with you because if we go after him too much Tiki will be open for passes or draws and he can kill us. Unlike McNabb and Young I think we do need to flush him out of the pocket though. I think he's vulnerable to mistakes on the move.

The Giants always play well in Dallas - we cannot say vice versa , sadly.

- Very Simple - Roy Williams will be the target , the Giants love to throw deep , get Toomer man to man and Burress coming open deep down the middle with Shockey running crossing routes , Roy has to recognize this and foresake the run support next week - meaning DWare and Co. are gonna have to get it done 7up -not 8. Shockey burned Roy a few times last season in the game in Big D.

- Bledsoe , Bledsoe , Bledsoe how he goes is how the Cowboys go.

I heard a rumor that we used the shotgun formation today...any truth to this? If so, and it was successful, it could be invaluable against the Gints pass rush. That extra second the QB is solely concentrating on his reads will help get the ball out quicker.

I wish I could say it's just you but it would be a lie. They are making to many bonehead penalties. Way too many. That is a concern for me. This would be a good game to get over the yips.

I didn't mention this, though I think it is very pertinent to this game. This is Colombo's first real test. He will be going against one of the best DEs in the last decade. IIRC, Strahan destroyed Pettiti last year. This will be the toughest competition Colombo has seen thus far. That being said, he's been one of our best OL to this point.

I actually hate the possibilities of this game after seeing what the Giant's did to Atlanta this afternoon. This one scares me badly.

Ok. On offense, BP has got to get away from that 'I've got to establish the run first' mentality. In this game, I think it imperitive we spread their D, immediately taking advantage of the mismatch's we can create with TO, Terry, Crayton, Witten, Fasano too. (I think this would be a great game to give Fasano alot of shots - as little as we've used him this year, it wouldn't be expected.) We beat their DE's rush by tossing quick - either 3 step drop or shotgun - short routes. Dink & dunk 'em to death. We can even go 'no huddle' if necessary. If sucessful, this will build Drew's confidence for progressively longer passes and make establishing the running game that much easier. Once both are going, we've got them where we want them.

Defense. Time to take off the blinder's Bill. Turn 'em loose & let them see what they're capable of. Full blitz package. Yes, we may well give up a couple of big gains, but I firmly believe we win the turnover battle decisively. Our db's are capable of having very good games but we all know they've given up some serious yardage this season. Unrelenting pressure from the front seven & any blitzer's thrown in for good measure will only help these guys.

And for cryin' out loud, enough with the damned penalties!
On the positive side with them playing Atlanta today is that Dallas is a polar opposite kind of team. It means they'll have to adjust this week a lot.

Our tackles against their DEs is a mismatch.

That said, not nearly as much of one as last year, and with Gurode's emergence they are considerably softer up the middle.

I'm not worried that much about it unless they blitz, but they are not a blitzing unit like Philly is.

This is a game on paper we should win.
On the surface I would agree with you, but if our OL can play together as a unit it can overcome the greatness of their DEs, and I agree they are a weapon for them.

Don't forget Tiki running and catching. It's a very diverse offense and that's why they win games.

I know we are notorious in Dallas for not creating a home crowd environment. But a loud monday night home crowd could go a very long way for us.

Shoot. It would go along way for us fans outside of the Dallas area as well. The sights and sounds (or lack there of) from the Dallas home games can be quite frustrating when you know you would be screaming your butt of if you could be there.

i really think the key to the game which you guys have been basically saying is that if henry can cover plaxico and we can pressure eli, that means we will have to cover the TE and RB which we dont do a good job of and we face 2 great ones in shockey and tiki barber. L.J smith and westbrook gave us just a little tough time but just think about what tiki and shockey can do if we fail to pick those 2 up especially if we play that dreaded cover 2 defense and cant pressure the qb

I really would like to see us start throwing to the backs more. Whether that means more screens, little flat passes, or the occasional wheel route ... just do it. Those types of plays could go a long way to slowing up the all out assault teams are throwing at Bledsoe ... and god knows he needs all the help he can get.

Also, it's time for a trick play. Fake punt, flea flicker, halfback pass ... I don't care just throw something at them and do it early so they have to think about what's up our sleeve next for the rest of the game.

More creative playcalling would certainly help and some better stunt blocking to make holes for our RB's. Also, roll out Bledsoe more and let him throw on the run a few times. I saw more of the shotgun against the Texans and I want to see more of that, especially on any 2nd and long plays. More blitzing by our freakin LB's...I want to James or Ayodele get a damn sack in this game!!!

Just mix it up and keep them off balance!

Some players I want to see get some more playing time are...

Kevin Burnett
Jamaica Rector
Sam Hurd
Bobby Carpenter

Players who need to step up big time are...

Chris Canty
DeMarcus Ware
Marcus Spears
Akin Ayodele
Kenyon Coleman

Getting tired of watching only Ellis, Ratliff and Ferguson getting most of the pressure.

Run & stop the run.

Conventionally stating, stopping the run is a must, particularly Tiki Barber. However, as we painfully learned in the Eagles game, stopping the run does not guarantee winning in the absolute. Stopping quick strike big plays is more damaging in my opinion and very demoralizing to us. Either way it is pick your poison, but the bottom line is we have to control the run and cover effectively.

We really have to befuddle Eli Manning and keep him on his heels to minimize their scoring potential. At the same token our Oline and quarterback have to demonstrate they can effectively perform against good defenses.

Thus far we have proven we can beat teams with bad records and mediocre defenses.
