Let me remind everyone that "Alex the bus driver" is 4-0.

Didn't some famous coach says if we don't turn the ball over then we can win 8 games just on that. Let the other team beat themselves.

Brady throws plenty of little short passes except his players makes YAC. Ours seem to just fall down. I don't even see Murray break many tackles off dump offs.

Even the bus driver is putting up some explosives, he is just not doing it with his arm. Smith is running the ball really well to extend drives when the short passing game is bottled up. And having a spy on him opens up the passing game because it is one less defender in coverage.

Bench him? For what, being top 3 in every major category but total yards? Seriously BENCH HIM? This may be the most absurd thing I've ever read on here...ever. Seriously, there isn't one fanbase in the history of football that wouldn't be over the moon with Romo's current production and here on the Zone we have people that want him benched?

You really have to work on detecting extreme sarcasm in the context of a post a little better, or, you can just post stuff like this. I think option 1 might be better for your blood pressure though.

Cause their coaches scheme with WRs on LBs and they exploit the middle of the field...

Sorry if I didn't detect your sarcasm, but seriously, consider what site we're on. People say this stuff for real.

I take nothing seriously and no sorry is necessary. You are alright by me.

Perhaps all the hits he has taken from a poor offensive line have killed the magic.

Exactly, just imagine if we released him..How many teams that would use him in a productive way & the numbers he would put up. I'm glad we have Romo , JG just needs use him how Sean.P did...

Honestly, Romo has some explosive passes. Unfortunately they are dropped by our receivers.
Romo is maybe a very small part of the issue. We have many other major ones. I am glad he is not turning it over like crazy. Imagine this board goes in full meltdown when he threws INTs (even if it's in desperation).

"It look like they have successfully killed all of the Romo magic as well and now we have ourselves a bus driver.

Give me my Brett Favre Romo back and get rid of this Alex Smith style Romo."

Catch17 said this in another thread, and I thought it was so good that it deserved its own thread. This is so, so true.

I do miss 2006-07 romo!

the media beat him down so much, the guy has become a robot.

I'm a huge Romo supporter, but I can't say they killed his magic, that last drive nearly every pass went to Witten, caught or not. Thats on Tony.

The drive where Williams fumbled? I see six of 11 passes to Witten. And a considerable amount of success doing that. Twice going to him to turn 2nd and long into 3rd and manageable and converting 1sts. from that. Honestly, he had one of the league's best TEs in single coverage over and over -- you take that over forcing the ball to Bryant in double coverage.

1-10-DAL 21 (6:49) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short left to T.Williams to DAL 30 for 9 yards (R.Marshall).
2-1-DAL 30 (6:18) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short right to T.Williams to DAL 39 for 9 yards (J.Patrick). P16
1-10-DAL 39 (5:59) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to D.Murray to DAL 40 for 1 yard (D.Butler, M.Gilchrist).
PENALTY on DAL-J.Parnell, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at DAL 39 - No Play.
1-20-DAL 29 (5:40) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to J.Witten to DAL 40 for 11 yards (D.Butler).
2-9-DAL 40 (5:14) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete deep middle to J.Witten.
PENALTY on SD-D.Butler, Defensive Pass Interference, 25 yards, enforced at DAL 40 - No Play. X17

1-10-SD 35 (5:09) (Shotgun) T.Romo sacked at SD 42 for -7 yards (J.Johnson).
2-17-SD 42 (4:40) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to J.Witten to SD 34 for 8 yards (E.Weddle).
3-9-SD 34 (4:14) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to J.Witten to SD 24 for 10 yards (D.Butler). P18

1-10-SD 24 (3:49) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to D.Murray to SD 22 for 2 yards (D.Butler).
2-8-SD 22 (3:25) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete deep middle to J.Witten.
3-8-SD 22 (3:20) (Shotgun) T.Romo scrambles up the middle to SD 7 for 15 yards (E.Weddle). R19
1-7-SD 7 (2:57) T.Romo pass incomplete short right to J.Witten (M.Gilchrist).
Timeout #1 by SD at 02:50.
(2:50) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to T.Williams to SD 1 for 6 yards (C.Butler; E.Weddle). FUMBLES (C.Butler), RECOVERED by SD
-R.Marshall at SD 0. Touchback.

Romo had no passes over 12 yards that I can recall and I do not count YAC. Explosive passing play is a 20+ play. Romo used to be one of the masters of creating explosive plays once upon a time, but certainly not this season. The Cowboys' new philosophy of playing mistake free football has taken the gunslinger out of Tony Romo. He does not look down field very much anymore because a lot of the vertical routes have been put away. Which is a little shocking considering that Romo has had a lot more time to sit in the pocket this season.

Ironically, Norv has said on many occasions that a poor OL affects the running game more than the passing game, AND it is still possible to create explosive plays in passing game with quick throws. Quick throws also hide many OL deficiencies, both truisms were borne out by Rivers this past Sunday.

I want Romo to attack that's who he is he attacks the field dictates the defense! The defense is dictating to him. There was zero urgency yesterday there were no deep passes no 30 yard down the field passes that would tell the defense try it I dare you! That's what's been missing right now and I don't know if it's scheme or injury or skill eroding or gun shy but something isn't right

Longest pass I see here is 15 yards on a drive that needed points quickly. That's a big problem go pull up the drive before the half for the Chargers and look at the differences in pass plays

This is exactly what people asked for when they got pissed about some of Romo's turnovers. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

The one thing I worry about Romo is that he doesn't appear to have any zip on the ball anymore.

I hardly post because i'm a little intimadated to add to football discussions because i don't want to sound silly. But i have a question and i hope it doesn't sound dumb, but what was the magic that lead us to a 13-3 season behind Romo's arm besides the weapons in T.O., etc. We now have Dez, Murray, Witten, Austin, etc. I feel a QB is as strong as the weapons he has alongwith with a solid oline. Could we ever have a season like that again? i ask because Romo catches a lot of heat when he's the same QB that we had during that 13-3 run.

I don't think it's Romo's fault that coaches put away vertical routes. Pass to Bryant for TD was more than 12 yds. So was the pass interference call when he threw the seam route to Witten.

Callahan is West Coast offense guy so you are going to get these short passes which relies on receivers to make plays and get YAC.

Like other posters said....you cannot have your cake and eat it too (cut down all the risk taking and expect alot of explosive plays.

This Bill Callahan offense is turning Romo into Alex Smith. This dink-and-dunk attack has to change. Romo is averaging barely 9 yards per completion this year. I would rather watch him throw an interception or two per game if the tradeoff is 350 yards and 3 or 4 touchdowns. I actually want the old Romo back, to be honest. The gunslinger version was at least more fun to watch.

I have no problems with the last drive orchestrated. The offense moved the ball down the field and was at SD 7 yd line ready for a score until the rookie fumbled (BTW I don't fault him too much for trying. Rookie mistake).

Yesterday Romo was not the problem. I don't understand why people just have to blame Romo for everything.

Unless that results in WINS then I don't think you would trade for that.

This board has melted down far too many time because of a Romo INT....even if it's a desperation drive. Romo can't win unless the team WINS.

you should read the Scouts take on Newsfeed section on how Rivers disected our D by taking what our D gave him.
