Because he's already been paid millions of dollars to play this season. Then why not just release him if you’re willing not to pursue any compensation?
Sure but it’s still accepting you’ll get nothing for a QB who will receive market price money in FA. Poor Mgmt.Because he's already been paid millions of dollars to play this season.
They actually have until sometime early March to get a deal done.I’ve maintained all off season that if the Cowboys were intent on retaining Prescott they’d have a deal done by the beginning of the season or very soon thereafter.
I’m fine with moving on if that’s our plan but don’t think it is even if we don’t resign him. I believe they have attempted to get a deal done which by all reports we’ve seen and heard would indicate so, just haven’t been able to.
Latest news is Dak wants a long term deal. And Cowboys want more of a shorter deal. Specifics weren’t provided.
I’m ready for the drama to be over. Why not just come out and say we are moving on. It’s why I have to believe they are still trying to get a deal done up to the last minute .
I stand by my message from the beginning that if a deal isn’t done by about the season opener, he’s done in Dallas. No playing the season for a new contract. He’ll bolt .
Despite what the naysayers have believed there’s been no indication the Cowboys haven’t been negotiating and pursuing to resign him. Just because they can’t come to terms doesn’t mean they didn’t have intentions to.
Yes we know. But the argument is based on whether that will be too late .They actually have until sometime early March to get a deal done.
How is forcing a player to play out his contract, "getting nothing for him"?Sure but it’s still accepting you’ll get nothing for a QB who will receive market price money in FA. Poor Mgmt.
Getting no compensation like in trade for draft capital. How is forcing a player to play out his contract, "getting nothing for him"?
That only happens if the contract isn't fulfilled. Dak is going to complete his contract. This isn't rocket science. It's not hard to understand. You seem to keep wanting to compare apples with oranges.Getting no compensation like in trade for draft capital.
Yes but if he fulfills his contract then he becomes eligible for FA. And we will recieve no compensation. That only happens if the contract isn't fulfilled. Dak is going to complete his contract. This isn't rocket science. It's not hard to understand. You seem to keep wanting to compare apples with oranges.
True but my argument was if our intention was to let him walk then we could have threatened to bench him which might have forced him to waiver NTC.How do we know that Dak said he would waive the NTC??? Maybe he said he wouldn’t waive it which is why no trades were pursued, hence getting a 3rd in compensation for letting go FA.
That's how it works. Dak did this to himself by insisting on a "no trade" clause that he refuses to waive.Yes but if he fulfills his contract then he becomes eligible for FA. And we will recieve no compensation.
First it was the off seasonDon't be surprised if/when Dak is signed tonight in the middle of opening night for the NFL season.
Jerry always wants to be front and center.
His focus has always been marketing.
I agree. But in the end we will receive no compensation. I’d argue we did this to ourselves. That's how it works. Dak did this to himself by insisting on a "no trade" clause that he refuses to waive.
I'd argue by the time Dak is cut free, the Cowboys will be fully compensated for what they paid for. ...and maybe Super Bowl Champs with a verbal agreement with Dak to remain a Cowboy.I agree. But in the end we will receive no compensation. I’d argue we did this to ourselves.
How will we be compensated when or if he’s cut free?I'd argue by the time Dak is cut free, the Cowboys will be fully compensated for what they paid for. ...and maybe Super Bowl Champs with a verbal agreement with Dak to remain a Cowboy.
No way that would happen with current money owed for this year. We all know JJ is bad but that would be beyond the pale.True but my argument was if our intention was to let him walk then we could have threatened to bench him which might have forced him to waiver NTC.
