It's October and the division is already lost

No repeat divisional winners in 12 years. At least this means the Eagles won't win it in 2018...hopefully we make a wildcard birth in 2018 and then win the division in 2019. The NFC East is cursed

Time and time again, this organization have proven to be not able to handle hypes.
They did something good and they would go with something cute, from play-calling to everything else.

This is a team culture problem.

When was last time we had good back-to-back seasons? Parcel's last season and Wade's first season. One good regular season ends with a playoff loss, then things got out-of-control in the regular season.Complacency.

In this league, success is very hard to inherit between seasons. Everyone has to grind out all the time to win.

This season starting going wrong early in the off season. Combined with the turnover in the secondary this was not difficult to see coming.

Expecting any DC to do something remarkable with these players is dreaming.

I would at least like to see some changes like maybe attacking the QB with some blitzes... some run blitzes.

Revisionist history.

I know because I was there.

So your claim is that no one pointed out prior to the season that the Eagles did a good job in the offseason, better than we did?

That's BS. Because I know I said it. And got called an Eagles homer for it.

I mean holy @#$@, they added Jernigan, Darby, Jeffrey, Blount and Smith. We added Moore, Carroll, Paea. Who in their right minds wouldn't think they did better this offseason than we did? Shoot, that's almost common sense.

Yeah, this whole, "hey, we should have expected the defense to scuffle with the new secondary" argument loses it's steam when your rookie S in Woods is probably playing better than your vet in Heath, your rookie Lewis is probably playing better than your vet Scandrick (and note, I don't have an issue with Scandrick, I like him) and the bum you just cut.

The problems run much deeper than the "growing pains" of new secondary players.

It starts with the DC. Until we rectify that, it's just going to be deja vu around here year after year with this defense.

I see it as an easy excuse for the uninformed to point to. A completely misguided excuse, but that doesn't stop them. They just count on the recipient to not know any better. That won't work here. Too many people that know their stuff.

This is my opinion, and one that I obviously can't support beyond hypothetical conjecture, but I firmly believe that a better coaching staff could not only win, but dominate with the personnel this team has.

Top to bottom, I'd compare this team's 53-man roster to that of anybody in the league.

Easy schedule last year, other than Romo a general lack of major injuries, Cowboys run game and Dak sneaking up on people all attributed to a great season. Those things arent so this year.

I agree, but this defense is too raw and devoid of talent right now.

I don't think they're that far off to be honest.

Getting Heath and Smith off the field, and Sean Lee back on it makes for a good start. And maybe figuring out who should actually play where (or not at all Benson Mayowa) on the defensive line would help too.

But I'm seeing more of a scheme problem outside of those two or three players I would bench. The old man needs to retire.

Be that as it may, if the shoe fits...
Umm...I admitted to there being a conspiracy. It is the notion of the "tinfoil hat" pejorative that tries to dismiss it via false argumentation. Conspiracies can be true or false, and the term is neutral with respect to validity.

For a conspiracy to have some merit, one would have to provide the benefit the league would get from conspiring against the Cowboys. The league is in the business of making money. So what's the benefit to the league conspiring against their biggest draw, their largest money maker?

It's bizarre, isn't it?

But they'll all just tell you that they're "realists" and you're just a blind homer (despite the fact that they're being completely UNrealistic with this sky is falling routine).

Not sure how long you've been on this board but you should've seen it just after week 1 of the 2014 season. It's somehow getting worse now than it was then, though.

Oh no, I saw it. What a meltdown.

Like you said, I’m not a “blind homer”, and I see the issues the Cowboys have. We all do. I just choose not to be negative about it constantly.
