It's October and the division is already lost

Here is the situation as I see it...

The iggles have the upper hand because of an easier schedule early in the season. There is no shame in us losing to Aaron Rodgers and his GB Packers and we haven't helped ourselves by losing to the Rams but that one game does not matter as long as we take care of our business going forward. The division is not lost.

Eagles play their next three games at home against winnable opponents. It's done and they deserve it. They went out and got Jernigan and Darby to add to an already stacked defense. Got Jeffrey on a prove it deal to help out their young QB. Their oline looks like top 3 in the league. Meanwhile we go 13-3 and get fat and happy. Benson Mayowa and Kyle Wilber are getting significant PT on this team. I'm totally disgusted in the front office. How do you not go for the jugular after getting so close last season?

We don't go 21 years with no success for no reason. Jerry won't let the team have a legit coach anymore. He wants ALL the pride if the team does good. Sadly, the team will never go anywhere with clueless puppet coaches. Thanks Jerry!

We had the easier schedule earlier in the season according to Football Outsiders.

That's pretty pathetic if a fan cares about "calling their shot now." imo.

Who said anything about "caring"?

He said he didn't want people coming back and using hindsight when the Cowboys lose the division. All I said was that people are already saying it will be tough to win the division, so there isn't much hindsight at work here.

@ Denver and GB with Aaron Rodgers is not the easier schedule. The iggles have had a cupcake schedule with the exception of the Panthers.

LOL. They played KC in KC too.

I'll put more value in a statistical look at SOS compared to some fan on an internet webpage.

Eagles SOS to date was 18th, the Cowboys was 20th. Going forward, the Cowboys remaining schedule is 2nd and the Eagles is 22nd.

Iggles lost that game.

What's your point?

You just said the only good team the Eagles played was the Panthers. You were wrong.

So sorry, but when you can't even get the schedules right, I am certainly not going to take JoeKing's SOS rankings seriously.

The winless Giants seemed to handle @denver just fine. Without their entire wide receiver corps.

The difference between this team and the Eagles is that Philadelphia found ways to win their games and the Cowboys found ways to lose. But their schedule isn't any easier than Dallas.

Iggles didn't find a way to win in KC. KC just lost to PIT who lost to the Jacksonville. The Giants win in Denver was an anomaly. The iggles have had 2 hard games(KC and CAR)... they lost one. We've had 2 hard games and lost both and then lost one we should not have lost(Rams). But none of that matters if we handle our business moving forward. We play the iggles twice and will need to win them both.

This is just a bunch of woulda, coulda, shoulda's. They've played a tougher schedule based on win percentage and they're 5-1. And this team is 2-3. Those are the facts.

I totally agree with you here. If we handle our business, we can get back in this thing.

The trouble is, I don't have faith in this staff to be able to do that.

Last year's Eagles team took this one to overtime when they were "13-3 good", and they've improved while the Cowboys look worse in almost all phases.

It was intentionally woulda, coulda, shoulda because that was the argument being presented to me with the Giants winning @ Denver. And the iggles losing @ KC is a fact. The iggles schedule was not harder... also fact.

So you have little faith in the Cowboys while I do believe.

LOL. You don't even know what a "fact" is. No, the Eagles schedule being easier than ours is not a "fact".

Further, you didn't even realize they played KC on the road. And then when you were told you were wrong, you went even further into stupid land and appear to now be arguing that KC might not be all that good because they lost at home to Pittsburgh.

Geezus man, do you have no shame?

Sorry, not "fact". And it was clearly shown to you in the numbers that were provided. Those are facts. You trying unsuccessfully to refute those facts is opinion. And misguided opinion at that.

Cool. You should buy a t-shirt.

That last sentence is the most disappointing and frustrating thing about this team. We have two young guns and supposedly this great young Oline, but we have totally crapped the bed! What seemed like the future last year, is now just a dream. This team needs a new voice or it's never going to change.

There you go being stupid again. The Cowboys were scheduled a harder schedule by design by the NFL because they were divisional champs last season.

I've always know where everyone played and lost or won... you have poo for brains for saying otherwise.

Buy me one and I'll wear it.

It really is an interesting case study when you look at the two approaches.

The strength of the Eagles has been their DL. In the offseason, they threw more resources at making their DL even better than it was - they spent a first round pick on a pass rushing DE and traded with the Ravens to get Jernigan, a better version of Logan, who they let walk in free agency. They didn't just assume they could get by with the guys they had remaining like Cox and Graham who are very good players.

Contrast that with our approach. Our strength is the OL. Our approach wasn't to throw more resources at it or look to improve it. We took the position that we had three great players there so let's just assume they can keep the OL playing at a high level and we can patchwork at least one of the OL positions (LG or RT depending on what they did with Collins). It's failing thus far.

The Eagles had some very clear holes and they went out and addressed them with proven veterans. We did not. We half-assed it again in FA. Its not surprising one team has taken a step forward and one has apparently regressed.

But FYI, the Eagles will have some interesting offseason decisions. Jernigan and Jeffrey both will be FAs and they don't have a ton of cap space. So they are going to have to be creative in keeping both.

They've change didn't everything else. Assistants, schemes, players, you name it. It's different. The only thing the same are the underwhelming results.
