Through 4 games, he has 15 combined tackles, 6 sacks, 4 pass deflections, and one INT. Kansas City got to see firsthand the other day what they allowed to get away.

It looks like he has put it all together now while he was showing flashes last season. If he keeps it up and behaves off the field, he's a must resign. Just a freakish talent - we've been hard on this coaching staff, but this is a developmental player. He came into the league raw and in his third season, he's looking like he can be one of the better DT/DE in the league.

Hes got my vote. Sign him.

This probably deserves its own thread but what level tender would you guys give Irving? He is RFA, right? What exactly are the rules on that?

Well, he had a domestic violence situation that got dismissed, and then just a couple weeks later got himself suspended for running around with a school stop sign.

I think there is some knucklehead in him - and the fact he's already found a way to get himself suspended in the NFL isn't great.

Still worth the risk though.
Man! He was a payed endorser of that banned
( by the league) substance, wasn't like it's HGH or THC, sounds to me like that was some insider industrial sabotage set up and more than likely with some NFC east divisions foes finger prints all over it o_O

There is still a potential knucklehead factor with him, but yeah, on the field he is a beast.
I read that "10 things" you didn't know about him,,, he's got a load of rebel in him, probably cuz' his father was a Sgt.major in the Marine corp, it good to see he's a towing the line, staying out of the headlines, I know he's one of my favorites:thumbup:

Dude, please keep us updated if you hear anything. Saw Gordon was recently allowed to play

Imagine RG lining up opposite Tank, with Irving at the 3T...

This was Oct 24.......reading between the lines of his Atty's statement, pretty sure he's applying. We should hear something within next couple weeks. IF (with Randy that's a big if) he's clean, I think Goodell lets him back in......no need to further piss Jerry off (LOL). Even if he can't play ( physically not ready ) rejoining his teammates would be huge for his rehab.......

Report: Randy Gregory to apply for reinstatement into the NFL
It's a long shot at the moment, but it's one the rehabilitating pass rusher is willing to take.

Randy Gregory wants back in.

Currently serving a one-year suspension for multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy, the ban on the Dallas Cowboys' defensive end won't end until Jan 6. He will be eligible to apply for reinstatement come Nov. 6, though -- 60 days prior -- and according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, he plans on giving it a shot next month.

“Given the sensitivity of this matter, confidentiality of the program and Randy’s privacy, I am unable to comment,” said Gregory's attorney, Daniel B. Moskowitz. “However, I will confirm Randy has every intention of getting back on the football field.”

**Follow @VoiceOfTheStar on Twitter for up-to-the-second news and analysis!**

A second-round pick from the 2015 NFL Draft, Gregory has yet to live up to expectations on the field due to his issues off of it.

He was suspended the first four games of the 2016 season for a violation during his rookie season. He was then suspended another 10 games for missing a test during the following offseason, with the subsequent punishment to be served upon completion of the previous one.

That was then followed by yet another violation that came equipped with the aforementioned one-year ban, to which he will now seek reinstatement from. Per Williams, it's not expected that the NFL will grant Gregory his entrance back into the ranks of professional football next month. If that holds true, he'll hold off on reapplying until after his suspension ends on Jan. 6.

Depending on how the rest of the Cowboys' season plays out, that can either be an offseason filing -- or during the playoffs. He'd be hard-pressed to return for a winter run given the NFL would take time to evaluate the application. The more realistic outlook would be Gregory retaking the field when the 2018 season gets underway.

** With the way he is playing, I wonder if the Cowboys already have to pencil in a first-round tender offer to defensive lineman David Irving as a restricted free agent this offseason. The Cowboys could put the second-round tender on him, but that might not scare off every team in the league from making an offer sheet to Irving. Teams with beaucoup amounts of salary-cap space might be willing to give up a second-rounder for Irving, who is showing he can play end or tackle. A first-round pick is a little different story. Irving has six sacks in four games this season. He admits to wondering what kind of numbers he would have in a full season. So do the Cowboys. But considering the price it will take to keep defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent, the Cowboys’ budget might be tighter than expected.

Since it almost never happens, how does that work? Does Dallas get that teams pick in this hypothetical or is it like baseballs where that team loses their pick but Dallas gets something like a 1st Rd comp pick? Can’t say I remember it happening to know how it works.

They can tender him or offer him a extension that is fair for both parties now. This is what they did with Ratliff. This might be a better option. If he keeps playing this way next year, we might not be able to afford him after next year with Martin's contract on the horizon.

Martin will be signed next offseason. Irving, if he keeps this up, will be signed around the same time, me thinks. At a decent price. We shouldn't wait to sign The Condor.

Martin will absolutely be signed by this time next season, tho.

Looks good. But hard to count on tapper or Gregory being there. Would also like to see a lb brought in over Wilson as a starter.

Irving is gradually growing into the monster we want to see him be. He's a young stud who's taking on what it takes to eventually become the type of pass rusher with the ability to help make a defense become elite. Paired with Demarcus Lawrence, they should constitute a threat to any OL, especially if they continue to develop as they have lately. Irving is due to become more consistent, however and if he's successful in doing so, he and Lawrence should become the holy terror that many teams would dread dealing with. They're getting close. It's a great thought to entertain.

Great post. Some bash our personnel and FO at every down turn of the season. Some do it when our hated rival trades for a rb. Good to see some balance and recognition when he hit home runs.

Uh, I don't know, a four game suspension for PEDs, maybe? Not his fault? League conspiracy against Dallas?

Exactly my thinking. He never refuted to taking the supplement (which he was then after a paid endorser of) and was never tested positive prior for a PED. It was his own fault, and I also blame his agent, for beginning to take said endorsed supplement prior to clearing it with the NFL. He admited to to taking the supplement, not trying to hide anything and thus denying the intention of intentionally takin a PED. He served his punishment and lets be done with it. Bye gone's be by gones.

Ideally, you keep both but I'm not sure a 1st rd tender will stop teams from Irving. He has the upside of an All-Pro - Defensive POY. Considering how much Tank may get on the open market and his history, I'd tag him and make him do it again.

Irving is a must keep at this point. Tank is playing out of his mind but I expect a drop off after this season for him. Along with back issues in a few years. Irving is our future.

Anything we get from Randy Gregory is a plus but he can't be expected to ever see the field again.

Just wait until Gregory gets back. Sorry I couldn't help myself.:muttley:

It is funny, but what if the kid actually gets his head on straight for the 2018 season? Hope is all we have at this point, but I would love to see him overcome his issues.
