In games against San Diego and Kansas City last season, Bledsoe was sacked a combined eight times, but he completed 40 of 58 passes (69 percent) for 558 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions, with game-winning TD passes in the final minutes of each game.

So he does NOT need a great offensive line to perform.

He needs something Adam, and a great offensive line sure aint gonna hurt.

Come on. I don;t think anyne knows the answer to that. His performance was inexplicable. He's never looked like that since he got here - especially given the protection.

The line played well enough to be Drew-proof yesterday, no matter your opinion of him. He was god-awful. By himself.

oh i never wanted drew here, but he is and like TO, i'm just trying to make the best of it. the loss yesterday is his and his alone. the line was good enough to give him the time he needed, he just seemed more like he was playing for his job and not to win, so he was afraid to "just play". it also seemed like he had some imaginary buzzer in his head and good or bad, that ball was gone before the buzzer could get him in trouble.

while i hate our line, that was not their loss yesterday.

Props to Ice for having the guts to play that card.

I fully agree. That halftime interception cost us the game, more than any other throw he made. Thinking about it makes me furious. Trust me, he does this again, I will definitely lose my mind. And I will scream with you.

I was with you every step of the way until the bolded part. I am 100% positive Bledsoe will show flashes of greatness only to be followed pure knuckleheadness play.

He is a tease. Always has been and always will. As a matter of fact I would predict at some point in the season some posters will start with their "where are the Drew haters now" threads. In the end, Drew will let us down. There is no reason to think that in his 14th season he is going to pull a different rabbit out of his hat.

well, as unpopular as it can be to not agree with adam, i *do* think he needs a good line to be effective on a consistant basis.

yes there are times he plays well in spite of a bad line. but not all the time. more often than not, get him rattled and you've got him beat. while you can pull up a single game here or there to show otherwise, don't stop there, look at all his games and let's try to figure out why this is happening. are those games "out of the ordinary" in his overall evalutation?

in the end, bledsoe is what he is. an above average qb who can still get rattled and do stupid things for *whatever* reason, one of those being a bad line.

sorry, i just won't let a couple of games totally dismiss the fact that when pushed around drew blows up more often than not.

I don't know that I agree with this. I think he has had a few games like the one yesterday. I've seen them happen. Maybe a little better here, a bit worse there but essentially, he does have the ability to just look terrible. He does have his good games as well so there's some upside as well. Consistancy is what you'ed like to think you can get from a 13 year vet and it just seems to be pretty ellusive with Bledsoe.

You should allready be in the rooms with the padded walls because this HAS happened before. I am STILL nauseous about that Seattle game last year. It will happen again.

Hey Michael,

Haven't heard much from you today. How's it going?

I'm certain most have heard more then enough from me.

:laugh2:

Head still hurts from the remote fling that missed the TV, bounced off the fireplace and hit me square between the eyes on Sunday.

He needs something to perform. He is a career 77.1 qb rating. I know stats are not everything, but come on. 14 years in the league and your career QB rating is 77.1. That is bad. Never in his career posted a yearly QB rating higher than 87.7.

There is no defense for this guy. None.

He had a bad game. It happens sometimes. I don't think the offensive line contributed greatly to Bledsoe's bad performance, and I don't buy the argument that he needs great protection to play well. He's had worse protection in games and performed much better than he did yesterday. He just had too many cases yesterday when he didn't see someone sitting in zone coverage underneath his intended receiver. Are you blaming that on the offensive line?

It wasn't the O-line's fault - he just sucked.

Sometimes QB's suck for no apparent reason.

You all might be right. Maybe I'm so disillusioned with the garbage QB play we've had for years that I give Bledsoe too much of a pass. Aside from the game against WASH last year, (Torrin Tucker pass from me - sorry, it just is) I;ve never seen him play near this bad. Sign me up as slightly worried. Next week could push me either way.

Drew has had eight seasons where he posted a QB rating for the year in the 70s and only twice has he went above the 85 mark and never above the 90 mark.

I would not blame that on the offensive line. I would not blame the fact that we didn't run the ball particularly well on the RBs either. I just think that much of the front four of Jacksonville. However, if Jones and Barbar had commited four fumbles, regardless of the yardage, I would blame it on them.

Could be just a bad game. I guess we'll see soon enough.

no - i'm blaming that soley on drew. i've spent the offseason bagging on our OL and oddly enough, defending them on this game.

while you can *and should* pull up a few games to show otherwise, to say the line is NOT an issue would imply to me you can put your finger on what *is* the issue.

i think a bad OLine contributes.
i think drew just has more bad days than most starting qb's.
i think drew gets overly frustrated and can't "calm down" as he needs to in order to quit making stupid mistakes.

in the end i think drew *does* do better when he has time and i think the OL *can* help in that regard. i can't and won't deny that he has games where he can "rise above" bad OL play, but we can certainly find quite a few examples of where bad OL play didn't help him any.

We were talking about why he sucked in this individual game.
