It's Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan again. Idiot Texans.

But Mario Williams will no doubt be able to do what he did in college?

No doubt

Vince Young's college game was based around being a better athlete than every defender on the field 99% of the time. That wont be the case in the NFL.

Mario Williams is not only a great athlete, but remarkably strong and big and has great pass rushing moves.

What about the Vince Young part dont you agree with? That he cant run away from NFL defenders?

He can't, he runs a 4.5 40, the same as half the LBs in this league
Well of course he's not always gonna be able to always run away from the LB's but he is gonna be able to with his speed give himself some extra time to throw the football and the Texans have pretty good receivers in Johnson and Moulds that can get open. BTW i just saw on ESPN Classic why Young is such a special player with his game winning run on 4th and 5 to win the Rose Bowl

A little fella named Walter Payton played for a pretty %*#$#* Bears team for several years and did well for himself. ;) And Aikman never would have been a Cowboy going by you fellas logic.
Go back and read my original quote...I clearly stated that QB WAS a position that you build around. We did not draft Emmitt (a better comparison than Aikman) until most of the other pieces were already in place. We had a young Line that was ready to take the next step and we had the QB. Houston has the QB (I still believe in Carr) but they DO NOT have the line.

BTW Walter did well but his team did not do well until they built the defense, the O-line AND got a QB. The Bears were fortunate that Walter was an exceptional player and was not burned out by the time they got a team around him.

I crack up everytime I hear about how Vince Young will not be able to run away from people like he did in college...well somewhat true, but irrelevant.

Bottom line to be an NFL QB you have to be able to read defenses and pass really well. Now lets make the assumption that Vince makes that transition just fine.

Now unless it is 3rd and 20 or third and 30, Vince Young will be able to pick the D apart with his arm, move around behind the line of scrimmage buying time and hit someone wide open downfield or take off and get 5-10 yards easily for the first down.

It is NOT about running for 100 yards in a game, it is about buying time with your mobility or taking off on third down to get the nail in the coffin first down.

I agree, thus Vince Young will have a very hard time playing QB in the NFL, at least for the first few years.

He has less accuracy than both McNabb and Culpepper did, and even Vick had comprable accuracy. He has to work on his mechanics.

No against any team because a great receiver like Johnson or Moulds only need a extra second or 2 to get open when they are initially covered and Young will be able to with his mobility get that extra time

USC did play horrendously on defense in that game.

Will he be a good NFL QB? Time will tell, however he wont come in like Big Ben and be great early.

They(Houston) should just re-draft Hakeem Olajuwan. Leave MJ and Bowie on the board again.

I do agree that it will probably take a year or 2 for Vince to be ready to play but in regards to Big Ben, he was very lucky to come into a situation where he had a fantastic run game and only had to pass 12-18 times a game. Pitt made it very easy for him and most rookie QBs aren't so lucky so it takes them much longer to adjust to the NFL

Where some people come up with this stuff is amazing.

Time will tell. I am not sold one way or the other, but I can see how a team would take a chance on him.

If he busts, a bust is a bust is a bust. It happens. As a matter of fact happens every year in the top 10 multiple times.

If Vince Young hits then watch out, the upside on him is IMO bigger than that of any player in this draft.

The question is who will the Texans draft with the first pick of the draft next year? They gave away picks to draft for 3-4 last year, hire Kubiak to fix the offense and then change to 4-3 and draft a defensive end with the first pick. Hard to believe the Texans could figure out the only way to get Kubiak boo'ed in his first game and do it.
Maybe they will trade Mario to the Jets and then take DBrickshaw Ferguson which is who they should pick if not Bush/Young.
