Or we could draft a S.

Yes we could and end up with Peterman, Marten or Pat Watkins???

I don't agree with building your team through free agency, but I think the Patriots have proven that if you sign the RIGHT players free agency compliments good drafting.

Sean Jones would be a smart FA move....at the right price.

I agree.
Even if we sign him, it is a "for sure" that we will draft a S.
He's done a lot with very little help.

He sounds like another Roy Williams, no thanks.

:laugh2: I love how whenver a player is "questionable" in coverage he gets linked to Roy. He is MILES ahead of Roy in alot of ways. Has Roy ever got 14 picks in a three year span? No, didn't think so. He's nothing like Roy.

That's what I am saying. How about just draft a safety. Never even heard of this guy.

You probably won't find a better opinion on SJ than what Terry Pluto wrote for The Plain Dealer...

QUOTE
The Browns wisely declined to tag safety Sean Jones a "franchise" player, meaning he'd be paid about $6.3 million. Instead, he will be a free agent at the end of the month. The more I watch Jones, the less I know about him -- other than he seems very average. When healthy, he's a strong tackler against the run. But he had knee surgery early last season, missing four games and that seemed to cost him mobility. He never was an asset on pass coverage. After four seasons and 60 games with the Browns, is there any reason to think Jones will be anything more than just OK? How much salary cap do you commit to Jones? In my mind, not a lot.

The biggest argument in favor of keeping Jones is the Browns have no one else to take his spot. In 2007, he was on the field for 98 percent of the snaps. He played every game in his first three seasons, before 2008. He is reliable and a solid locker-room guy. But the safety combination of Jones and Brodney Pool was nearly as much of a problem in the secondary as young cornerbacks Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald last season. They certainly didn't seem to give those kids on the corner a lot of help -- and Jones has especially been vulnerable defending tight ends over the years.

Well he must be incredibly lucky in coverage then, because he has 14 picks the last 3 seasons. He had 16 passes defensed 3yrs ago, 10 the season before last. He's getting around the ball and awful lot for someone they say cant cover a lick.

I saw him play at UGA alot and he is a quality player. I think he'd be an instant upgrade here. We probably wont sign him because of price, but I do think he's a good player.

All the Cleveland homers I have talked to say he really isn't all that either.
Be careful of what you wish for.
he really isnt people are just going crazy cause he has 14 picks

i read up on him and several writers all said he got burnt repeatedly in coverage last yr and lended little help to the teams young corners

they said he also had a hard time at times in gms wrapping up defenders.

he doesnt sound like anything special. most of the people on here going crazy over him hardly saw him play, if they did they wouldve seeen all of this

The guy aways had 5 seconds to cover DB's..of course he got beat..most SS do when there's no pass rush. 14 picks in 3 years gives you some insight. I've seen him play probably a dozen times and think he's a solid player. He's not spectacular, but you put him on a great,QB pressuring defense like we have, the potential is endless.
