Blue, I’ve thought about your point of keeping Zeke for insurance. The reason I don’t think that makes sense is we could sign a younger RB off a practice squad for less money than the $2 million we are paying Zeke. And if we are keeping Dalvin Cook, why not give him a chance to show if he has anything?
So what is Ezekiel elliott's contract situation what if it's fully guaranteed it makes more sense to keep him... What young running back is on the practice squad did I miss something it's dalvin cook. With all the other injuries to other positions it'd be dalvin cook is taking up a spot for a young player on the practice squad Ezekiel Elliott would just be sat down hell they could put him on IR we all saw him grimace with his shoulder I don't think that was a thing for the cameras I don't think we were supposed to see that I think he has a rotator cuff injury or some problem with his shoulder so just stick them on IR ...
.
I don't really have a problem either way we'll let them figure it out... I would like to see dalvin cook in San Francisco... Be a good game to bring up a guy they haven't seen fresh legs if you're gonna remove zeke i think you bring up cook.

So no argument or loyalty for me I mean I love Ezekiel Elliott what he's done for this franchise he's had a great career but you already have his replacement basically the things he can do now hunter can do and is already doing so I'm good with it I still think he should have got the carry at the goal line and the reason he didn't or hunter I don't know I think his shoulders hurt and that's why they didn't give him carries and why is he taking up a active game day spot for 10 snaps or whatever he's getting a game total like blocking and everything it doesn't make any sense you're right...

We finally agree on something lol

The reasons Zeke is on this team have absolutely nothing to do with trying to win football games. There is no denying this. The old drunk clown decided it would be so and the coaches and the team are left to make the best of it. If we accomplish anything this year Zeke is simply another obstacle to overcome.

I’m talking about poaching a young rb off another team’s practice squad. Here are some examples, although none of them will be world beaters:
  • Jarret Patterson- on Chargers PS- 24, played two years in Washington, avg 4.6 yards per carry last year.
  • Jamar Jefferson-on Lions PS- 24, played in 7 games last year for the lions, avg 4.9 yards per carry, and is probably on ps because the lions are deep at RB.
  • Michael Carter- on Cards PS- 25, has played for the jets and cards and in rookie year with jets had 653 yards. Played 6 games in Ariz last year, averaging 6 yards per carry on 22 carries.
None of the guys above are going to save the season. But they are all younger, cheaper and fresher than Zeke.

Like I just saw in the sounds from the sidelines thread Zeke seems detached. That being said, I thought he should have been out there on the play at the goal line where Rico fumbled. If there was better out there I'd say cut him, but Deuce isn't better, so if you want Cook, cut Deuce... not sure that there is anything better out there at this point.

If you don't think Rico was the better option over Zeke then you are crazy. Rico was punishing the Steelers. He was running harder than any Dallas RB I have seen since probably Barber.

Rico fumbled. The Steelers guy made a crazy play. Who cares. I will remember Rico running like an absolute boss for a long time.

Rico has never played a full 17 game season. He'll get hurt eventually and Zeke will have to pick up the pace. That's probably why they havent activated Cook from the PS so far. Once Rico goes down they'll call Cook up and share carries with Zeke. It's not ideal but it is what it is.

Most of us knew it was unlikely we would resign Tony Pollard last off-season. Many of us hoped Derrick Henry would be on the radar because he would certainly require less than Pollard. But those dreams died quickly amidst all the cap lies the Jones boys fed us all off-season.

When it was announced back in the spring that a washed up Ezekiel Elliott was headed back to Big D to “shore up” a depleted RB position, I believed unless a miracle happened, Zeke wouldn‘t finish the season a member of the Dallas Cowboys. After five regular season games, I think his Cinderella story has become a pumpkin.

In five regular season games so far this year, Zeke has 30 carries for 98 yards, 3.2 yards per carry. He also has 6 receptions for 35 yards, less than 6 yards per catch. Combined, Zeke has 36 touches for 133 yards. That’s 3.7 yards per touch. Ouch.

There is zero room in the NFL for a sentimental roster spot. It‘s time to let Zeke go with thanks for all his glory days in Dallas. Those glory days left the building a few years ago. We can find another RB somewhere who has 3.2 yards per carry and has some upside.

It‘s time to say goodbye to Zeke.
totally agree Bob

I like Luepke too, but Zeke isn't hurting the team. Gives them depth behind Rico.
Yeah any person citing the need to "get rid of Zeke" needs to point out the game we lost because of him so far. Zeke is not a problem and he is helping in whatever role he is asked to do so. That is the definition of a professional. He could go to the media whining about his reps but he has done nothing of the kind. Instead he has been Rico's biggest cheerleader and mentor.. just as he was with TP before him. I think people undervalue veteran leadership and just plain ole physicality and toughness which Zeke provides all three.

He's on pace for a horrible season. He's a waste of space

Before the play? No.

While the play is active and the player is being careless with the football? Yes.
Agree.

It was not wise for RICO to be in the game during that situation.

Big Mike was stubborn and foolish.

Zeke is not making any money ...... he has not been a progress stopper ...... and he is not complaining about his role.

People complaining about Zeke have problems with him that have nothing to do with football or the team.

Yup

Asking Rico to play in a situation he has no exp in, was not wise.

Especially when the 3rd all time rusher in team history, will multiple rushing titles, is on the sideline.

Bad call Big Mike.

Dumb.

It has everything to do with football. He's a waste of a roster spot
