I've read zero on this board, so I can't know whether it's already been stated, but it deserves to be said and this would seem to be as good a thread as any...

Dowdle should not have been the guy given the ball on 2nd down.

That should have been Zeke.

Would it still have resulted in a fumble anyways? Who knows. But I like Zeke's chances of delivering in that situation so much better than Dowdle's. Indeed, surely it's been pointed out by someone that, had Dowdle had wider vision, he would have almost walked into the end zone had he chosen the gap on the other side of Steele instead.

And maybe needless to say having said that... nonsense... Zeke is filling his role just fine, if not really well.

And and and... Cook is a fumble machine. He just is. No getting around that. Want no part of it. He is only an emergency option.

I just don’t understand the need to put Zeke in the game near the goal line when he’s sat most of 4 quarters . Dowdle was running effectively was the obvious choice followed by Leupke . Zekes my last option in that situation .

Zekes on pace for 102 carries for 333 yards at at 3.2 ypc. Anyone who thinks Zeke isnt a waste of a roster spot is just as delusional as Jerry Jones. Zeke will not hit the 10,000 yard milestone for a runningback, and he may not even hit the 100td mark

Ok

I like Zeke and hope he retires a Cowboy

We should be going with Dowdle and Luepke and bring in Cooks if he is playing well at practice.
It's time you be unburdened by what has been.....lol

Zeke is a fat little cancer eating away at the core of the team.

Most of us knew it was unlikely we would resign Tony Pollard last off-season. Many of us hoped Derrick Henry would be on the radar because he would certainly require less than Pollard. But those dreams died quickly amidst all the cap lies the Jones boys fed us all off-season.

When it was announced back in the spring that a washed up Ezekiel Elliott was headed back to Big D to “shore up” a depleted RB position, I believed unless a miracle happened, Zeke wouldn‘t finish the season a member of the Dallas Cowboys. After five regular season games, I think his Cinderella story has become a pumpkin.

In five regular season games so far this year, Zeke has 30 carries for 98 yards, 3.2 yards per carry. He also has 6 receptions for 35 yards, less than 6 yards per catch. Combined, Zeke has 36 touches for 133 yards. That’s 3.7 yards per touch. Ouch.

There is zero room in the NFL for a sentimental roster spot. It‘s time to let Zeke go with thanks for all his glory days in Dallas. Those glory days left the building a few years ago. We can find another RB somewhere who has 3.2 yards per carry and has some upside.

It‘s time to say goodbye to Zeke.
Look it's not that I don't agree with you but I think at worst they just need to deactivate the guy and keep him for insurance... And I say this because of one thing it's the sudden find the fact that hunter younger more healthy can do all the things that Elliot was brought here for the mistake by the front office was the coaching staff not using hunter Moore last year realizing we did have a short yardage guy a guy that can block a guy that can go out for some passes he's basically taken elliott's spot... I believe if Elliot would have got all those opportunities he might have done similar things with them look I'm not just saying that that's my opinion that his snaps are down his opportunities are down and like on the goal line that Rico fumble that should have been elliott's carry or should have been a Hunter's carry I don't get why they ran Rico who can be a tough runner but he is not the better short yardage runner Rico reminds me more of a slightly slower Tony Pollard...

So yes, now that we're into the season 5 games and we see how they're utilizing hunter and they're starting to get traction with Rico and I'd love to see them bring up dalvin cook soon just to give us some fresh legs and maybe a guy that actually can cut back better sees holes that go against the play call because right now Rico is limited in my opinion his vision is not good he's been playing very well don't get me wrong but sometimes he'll run a play and when you go back and watch if he just would've went right instead of left or vice versa there were huge holes he's missing and maybe it wasn't the play call to go into that hole but really good running backs when they see they can maybe get 5 yards going with the play call but if they just simply cut right or cut back there are huge holes that are being missed in this offense so that the run game is still a work in progress and you're right Ezekiel elliott's taking up a spot for who might be that guy and dalvin cook I think dalvin cook is more instinctual and has better vision than Rico and he could be utilized better in this offense because there are starting to be obviously holes that are there and we're blaming the offensive line and it really is somewhat the running backs are not seeing some of the opportunities...

I heard Davis Moore say yesterday that Cook was the backup to Zeke. If Zeke goes down then they will bring in Cook. Until then you won’t see Cook.

IMO I think they should bring back Royce Freeman.
Yeah but that also holds true for the roster spot on active game day you don't have to be hurt to get deactivated so Ezekiel Elliott could be sat down I think he has a shoulder injury.. If you look at how little he's been being used and you watch the pregame locker room delay where he was trying to put his pads back on by himself he was grimacing like he had a shoulder injury and it might be time to sit zeke like Bob said and in that case injured or not you deactivate one and then you bring up cook.. No I don't think we need another tough runner on this team Royce freeman is another guy that can do similar things that hunter can do and that a healthy Ezekiel Elliott could do we need dalvin cooks vision and his natural running ability that I think he's can cut back and find these holes that Rico just simply is missing like he might be running the player properly for five yards or three yards but I've seen rewatching some of these videos there are holes if you simply just cut back or just simply take the right gap instead of the left there are monster size holes that some of the better running backs like dalvin cook with vision that one cut and just go Royce is it more of a bruising back that we already have that hunter can do it we need somebody with a little bit better natural abilities that feel for the pocket where they go find the whole cut back and get a bigger play it could mean an extra 10 or 15 yards a game in rushing and that's a lot in this game IMHO.

No ...... its no burden at all ...... there are backups on the bench who are still less talented than Zeke ..... His time as a starter is just over.

I said it I think it should have been Ezekiel Elliott or at least hunter should have not been Rico, rico's not our best short yardage goal line guy,

so yes Ezekiel elliott's been misused and that's probably why he needs to be sat down though I think hunter is filling that role but yeah he was on the field Ezekiel Elliott should have been on the goal line play and he probably doesn't fumble but he gets it closer and he probably gets it on the next one I agree but since hunter has emerged as a guy very similar that does things because he's younger fresher and hungrier Ezekiel Elliott is probably time not to cut him but just deactivate him he may even have a shoulder injury because that's what I saw in the pregame when he was trying to put his pads back on after the long delay he had some problems either with a rotator cuff or his shoulder and maybe that's why he's lost snaps but he should not be on the field on game day if he's got problems...

But you do bring up dalvin cook you call him a fumbling machine but even Ezekiel Elliott was called that that one year he shouldn't be here for sure yard is diving cook is has better vision and instincts rico and there might be some things he can do because I see Rico even though he may just be carrying out the play call in the right gap or the right hole I look over and there is a huge hole just to the other side not far back or you do a cut back and dalvin cook is better at that and maybe he should get a shot the hunter should be the new short yardage guy, just let him eat..

Blue, I’ve thought about your point of keeping Zeke for insurance. The reason I don’t think that makes sense is we could sign a younger RB off a practice squad for less money than the $2 million we are paying Zeke. And if we are keeping Dalvin Cook, why not give him a chance to show if he has anything?
