This guy just needs to step it up big time. If it was thought that he had issues game planning to get TO open, he really has his hands full now. He doesn't have one to please. He has quite a few that are all technically on the same level. That includes RBs and WRs. Hopefully coach air it out can put together some nicely balanced schemes that highlight our strengths at RB while also mixing in some short/intermediate routes thru the air. I'm hopeful not confident.

I think Garrett, being young, new, fresh, etc. was a bit overwhelmed by Owens' personality, especially once things kind of started to take a turn for the worst.

I think with a group of high-character, motivated, want-to-winners this year, he'll be back to the 07-08 Jason Garrett form.

People also forget in 07-08 how soft our schedule was except for New England.

He was also unwilling to put Owens in his place because he felt that was Wade's job as Head Coach, and he did not want to step on Wade's toes.

I believe that issue has now been resolved from within the staff.

A lot of finger pointing has wounded the pride of some good football players and coaches. I expect it to be a rallying cry this year.

Instead of looking at it with such a negative perception, how about realizing that he was going up against great competition at DC's last year. Not too many OC's have success against Jim Johnson. Romo torches him once per season.

If you're going to say he better step it up against new competition (which he should, and I think he will), you have to at least credit his tough competition last year.

Sorry I refuse to give him a pass...he refused to make adjustments through the year, misjudged the talent he had, and overall got beat...if you are happy with 9-7 so be it. But I will not be! He has too much to work with out there (and judging by the fall of his "stock" the other football people in the league agree.

One thing I do want to say QC (gag on your acronym) is that it is folly to think the new DCs are easy marks and Garrett's job will be easy.

Sean McDermott is a good football guy who has climbed the ranks in Philly and is respected by that Defense. If he is the guy there, he is a Jim Johnson disciple and that team will be playing for Jim. They might be very motivated by his cancer.

Bill Sheridan is a football guy in New York. At one time he was a HC candidate in the college ranks. Granted not the pro game, but he is well respected. he has 4 years with the Giants staff and the LB Coach.

Greg Blache is a football guy too. 4 years as the DL coach with the Skins and an obvious move when they let Greg Williams go and he got some players this off season.

I would temper this "easy mark" opinion. A lot. But that's just me.

Very good points Hostile (minus the gaging of course) but the bottom line is that these new DCs though football guys did not have the fanfare that Garrett does. He is the answer. He is the highest paid OC in the game. He is the coach in waiting...those others are not. STEP IT UP OR GET HIM OUT.

Oh come on, let's at least be honest here. They didn't get fanfare here because they are not Dallas Cowboys coaches.

If you think that Giants fans and Commanders fans didn't post glowing reports of Sheridan's and Blache's football pedigree then you are deluding yourself. If you think Eagles fans are not discussing McDermott's football pedigree you are deluding yourself. If you think fans of those 3 teams wept and wailed over the fanfare we gave Jason Garrett you are deluding yourself.

Park the agenda when common sense overrides it huh? Judas Priest man.

Partially agree partially do not.

This guy made his own bed. Turning down HC jobs because he didn't think the team could win. Reportedly "big leagueing" the Rams when they called him back this year. Having other teams laugh at the predictability of the offense. (By the way an offense that cannot even break in to the top 10 in rushing, cannot project talent such as Choice being on the bench almost the entire year and B. Johnson being the back-up, and don't even get in to the play calling right now.)

Spags in NY got fanfare, the idiot in NE who is trying as hard as he can to destroy Denver got fanfare, and they are not Dallas coaches. THEY PRODUCED THOUGH. By the way when was the last time you heard anyone preach Brian Stewart, or any other assistant on this team?

Unlike the others he did not do the job and I am tired of people allowing excuses for him. If players did not perform COACH THEM TO or FIND NEW ONES that will.

You mean he did what Spagnuola and McDaniel did when they refused to be candidates for teams after 2007? He asked for more money?

He should be ashamed.

An OC on a high scoring 13-3 team got fanfare?

Say it isn't so.

Common sense be damned, full speed ahead.

IMO garrett could be 500 better if he learned how to gameplan to his players strengths. impliment them slants and get austin in some motion. get choice and felix in some screens. this would be a dangerous offense. hopefully another yr of exp did him good. he clearly wasnt ready last yr to handle it all on his own.

COME ON!!!!

You didn't like the games where we threw 85% of the time? Or the game against Pittsburgh where we had three 3rd and 1s in a row, ran and got it 2 times easily and then decided to throw the third time (which we all knew would happen)? How did you not like the refusal to adjust to the personnel we had in the game while Romo was out?

He certainly is a solid fit for the position....

The proof of blind agenda is hyperbole.

I defy you to show me one game with a 85/15 pass to run mix.

Good luck. I won't hold my breath.

Asking for more money is not the issue...telling a team you don't think they can win like Baltimore is. Another example of his inability to judge talent (i.e. Johnson can do they job as backup in this offense).

The first year is never a good indicator for me. Hence why I am not solidly on the Baltimore/Atlanta QB bandwagons yet. Wait till year 2 when the league knows you to really produce. (Or in McDaniels case without the "Hoodie" next to you...see Charlie Wise and Romeo Crennel). You saw what year 2 was for Garrett...but if you are happy with him so be it.

That was an exageration, but the first Washington game was probably close.

Hyperbole means exaggeration.

I was accusing you of dramatics for the sake of promoting hysteria.

Hos...I know I am extremely tough on certain aspects of this team (that is how stupid fan passion goes sometimes) but trust me...NO ONE HOPES YOU ARE CORRECT AND I AM WRONG MORE THAN MYSELF!!!

I would love for our offense to roll and get that 6th ring. I would love to eat my words. I just don't trust our "cook" yet.

Thanks you walking thesaurus...I am trying to make scrambled eggs and post at the same time and did not feel that an SAT Prep comparison would come up...

I know this. I'm not accusing you of being a lesser fan.

I just think you have placed a standard upon Jason Garrett that is impossible for any coach to live up to. It is ridiculous to think our NFC East rivals have easy marks that he should dominate and if he doesn't it proves he isn't anything but hype.

I don't get the desire to be ridiculous when you are the guy who exposed the ridiculous nature of Werder's agenda. Yet here you are doing exactly what he did just without ESPN as your bullhorn.

Maybe you admire him more than you know.

No offense to you personally, but I can't stand that mentality. It's a loser mentality.

Expect doom and gloom and then you're not disappointed when you're one of 31 teams who don't win the Super Bowl. You have a 97% chance of being right. If on the off chance you're wrong, hell we win the Super Bowl. how can you lose??

Instead of having the actual stones and guile to look for reasons why we can be successful on the 3% chance that you'll be right.

Oh yeah.... that's the media's mentality too.

No offense taken.

I do not expect to win a SB every year. I do expect numbers that are better than 21st in rushing and 18th in scoring, especially when one considers most of these "stats" came against lesser competition.

I look at things that need to be corrected. There is a reason that the morons I screamed at last year in St. Louis decided that changes were required or got canned...(exception Phillips and Carpenter which I still cannot explain).

I expect a solid effort day in and day out. Not that crap we saw against Philly. If that makes you hate my attitude or compare me to the media so be it.

I can handle losing losing, but not getting beat because of effort or poor planning.
