By keeping both Ferguson and Hendershot, the Cowboys were careful not to put all their eggs in one basket. Let's be honest, injuries occur.

What would be truly awesome would be both having breakout seasons.

Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez were both in their 2nd seasons with the Patriots in 2011 when Gronkowski had 90 receptions for 1327 yards and Hernandez had 79 for 919 yards.

I'm not expecting similar results. However, if they can match half of that then it would go a long way in helping the Cowboys.

He is a solid player, but I dont think they are going to roll with him as the number 1 TE.

All signs point to TE at 26.............I am not really thrilled with taking a TE in the first round, but lots of scouts seem to think this year's crop is one of the best in a long while.

Two names I keep hearing is Kincaid from Utah or Washington from Georgia.

Darnell = Washington. Same guy. Darnell Washington full name. Yes, this crop of TE's rivals perhaps any class previously.

you are not paying attention if you dont see what the Cowboys ae doing at TE.
So a fourth round blocking TE in Ferguson and an undrafted TE in Pendershot, oh I think I'm paying attention, if you think that's putting resource's into the position, then I think you're not paying attention.

I've head Washington mentioned on a Cowboys podcast as a possible target.
Washington ran a 4.75 at the combine, but he is a mountain of a man, like having an extra OL with great hands.

TEs are only as good as the guy throwing to them . Some are weapons some are outlets. The thing is, TEs are usually covered tightly, Whitten would ramble 10- 15 yds down the middle and push off, creating a yard of separation, Romo would have the ball right there.
Novacek would run to a spot, the pass from Troy would be right there.
Our current QB fears the tight middle. Our TE will spend the majority of his time blocking or running clearing routes. So Ferguson will do just fine, he does have potential.

Give him? Lol

only guy blindly given anything in Dallas is Zeke and he’s gone. You have to get open and earn the trust of your qb.
A better QB and we have better plays from TE's as well as RB's and WR's.

He flashed whenever he had the ball in his hands last year. Turned dumpoffs into big plays. He’s a YAC threat at the TE position.

Travis Kelce was asked about TE’s that remind him of himself back in Feb. He singled out Jake Ferguson as a guy he’s excited to watch in the future.

TE isn’t a need.
Not great, but good, and good as a rookie. Ferguson should only get better.

I don't want them picking a TE high. When a draft pick shows this much as a rookie, you've got to at least give yourself a chance to make the most of him.

My pet cat.....lots of fans/media are down his receiving ability but I think the kid can be right there with the elite IF given the opportunity. Check out his stats vs Kincaid. Notice he's only one full season but look at his average yards per catch vs Kincaid. Not to mention I heard more than once he's like having a 5th OLineman on the field. 6'7, 265lbs.......who stopping that in the red zone.

No, I wouldn't use 26 but 58? I'm running the card up

Dude, I'm a fan. I'd love to take a shot on this kid. He's a monster.

Schultz is a JAG but was productive because of opportunity. Ferguson may be a JAG or he might be the YAC threat at TE we haven’t had in a while.
Yes. TEs get a ton of targets here. Hence, we go go and get a weapon at 26. You made my point

I would NOT draft another TE. Sign a UFA or look for a veteran to be a squad player. TE is not a need. We need OL and DT's in the draft.

Hendershot is going to break out. He has the big play potential also.

Raw physical ability isn't everything, but just to give you a glimpse into this TE class

Athleticism score from Combine (40, Jumps, Shuttles, Cone, bench)

Zack Kuntz...94
Darnell Washington...91
Sam LoPorta...86
Luke Musgrave...86
Will Mallory...84
Luke Schoonmaker...84
Additional Guys here...yes loaded class
Peyton Hendershot...72
Michael Mayer...71
Dalton Schultz...69
Jake Ferguson...68

Dalton Kincaid didn't test

Hendershot and Ferguson are solid, but may not have physical tools to ever become big time. My hunch is the Cowboys will be eye-balling tight end within top four rounds
Yeah the Cowboys are drafting a tight end early. :omg:
