Back to the thread topic, I logged in after the game expecting to see everybody hyping up Vaughan beyond a level I was personally comfortable with. Of the two players (I didn't get to see much of Weeden because of the NFLN coverage), Vaughan clearly had the better performance. He hung in there and delivered some tough balls, and everything he threw was on-target. He extended drives on big plays, including that 3rd and 17 and the drive where they were pinned back at the goal line. He had a couple of drives outright killed by drops and one on a badly whiffed 3rd down protection. The other sack he gave up was when both OTs got beat at the same time.
I though the locked onto his receivers a bit, but, other than that, he looked good to me. So good, that I'd start giving him as many reps as I could and diminish both Weeden's and Showers' playing time to get Vaughan further along. If he plays well enough with more reps, I'd at least consider using that extra QB spot on another player.
So, that said, I was surprised to see so much support for Showers when I checked in. The guy carries himself well and is athletic, but, man, he needs a lot of work as an NFL passer. He's got 'practice squad' written all over him.
