But did he fail a drug test? I'm not sure he could get suspended otherwise. Another question would be if it could be a rehab for emotional/mental issues? Is that a thing?
That is what FISH is saying. He's been told that he does not have a big drug problem (not that drugs aren't involved), but that he's getting "clinical" help, seeking peace.

I would love it if Dallas would trade their first for Aaron Donald and just cut Irving and bring some excitement to this season instead of this stupid dark cloud it has right now.

I'd call that treatment, not rehab.

Pssh it would require much more than a 1st in addition to the fact he wants 25 million a year

Sorry, I didn't read all the way through the OP. I see now it references a violation of the substance abuse policy.

Not sure. I'm just speculating that it may be coming. This is eerily similar to what happened to Randy Gregory in 2016. Wondered why he wasn't in camp, find out he was in rehab, and had been popped for a 10 game suspension that he was appealing. For someone who is in the drug program and tested as frequently as he is, it just seems there is a good chance for a failed/missed test if he is in and out of rehab.

Seems not long ago half the zone was convinced he was a goner cause we didn’t use a first round tender on him...,

I missed where the OP said there was a violation of the substance abuse policy, and if that's accurate I'm sure you are right that a hefty suspension is coming since he has failed a drug test before.

Fine, cut, slander, ridicule, disrespect... all options the team avoided because they are a compassionate organization that realizes it is dealing with human beings. Some things are more important that this game, this business. We are talking about David Irvings survival and quality of life. Something tells me you don't have any clue about any of that.

In one breath you call Slater an ignorant slut, then you speak to me about compassion lol. So slander, ridicule and disrespect are all options huh? Seriously man there are only 2 actual options, support him or release him.

Im sorry you dont understand the lay of the land, but when you are in the public eye accepting all the accolades and millions of dollars you are also in the public eye receiving all the scrutiny that comes along with your celebrity status.

You dont need to get worked up and start throwing insults around and I am not lacking in compassion or empathy. I am simply being realistic about Irving's job and some of the responsibilities or pitfalls that come along with it. Keep your shirt on big fella, we can agree to disagree lol.

The "professional" organization that owns this athletes contract seems to disagree considering how silent they have been on the matter. It's not that he "couldn't show up". He has been excused my the team to take care personal business. That's not at all as you characterize it, "couldn't show up". If you want to argue a point then get your facts right.

He couldn’t show up because he apparently has a rehab situation to deal with. And as a professional athlete, unfortunately, one of the downsides to that is not having as much privacy as a regular person, especially when what you are doing/have done off the field prevents you from showing up for the start of fall camp.

If you want to look like a fool and argue semantics, go right ahead.

With the break up with his Baby's momma, being a single dad, the suspension, maybe he is in a dark place and needs to cope before goes Aldon Smith, Underwood, or Ratliff

Hopefully a year off will wake him up like it appears to have with Randy. Of course it would seem Irving has a lot more issues going on than Randy did.

Violation of substance abuse IS NOT mention.......only rumors he's been in and out of REHAB

No, shaming people who may have a legitimate illness isn't an effective tool at all.

You'd have to be a real tool to use shame as a tool in those cases
