I was watching this video with Jane, Voch, and Broaddus and around 17:30 Jane makes some very interesting comments about how cheap Jerry is when it comes to paying coaches, how much he undermines and doesn't really value his head coach. Apparently the word is out around the league amongst coaches as to how cheap Jerry really is. Man, I went from loving Jerry for many years to hating his guts the past half decade. I hate him for how much he's made me hate him. It's also clear he's really a terrible negotiator and gets fleeced in every deal, as they also touch on in this discussion.

Really insightful but if you followed the Cowboys since Jerry took over we all knew that. He did pay for MM’s staff and paid for Quinn and his staff as well.

MM is making 4 per. Quinn is making 4.5.

Highest paid guys are Reid (deserved) and Payton (undeserved) at 18 million.

I’d say MM is underpaid a bit but it has a lot to do with having a 5 year old contract. Salaries have easily doubled in the NFL since 2020.
Which is exactly why MM is still here for another year.

I don't think the pay piece is reality because he has paid coaches market when they were hired and also paid up to keep coordinators. He also would have never hired Bill Parcells if he didn’t value coaching.

However, where he goes wrong is inserting himself into day to day affairs. So maybe it's more of a trust aspect and desiring control.

Jerry has to realize that all NFL teams are talented and the difference between success and failure is coaching and then scheme.

Surely he must look at teams like Detroit, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Houston, Miami and KC, who have been successful possess energetic, innovative coaches and coordinators.

Dallas has had above-average talent, but has not advanced past the Wild Card playoffs in several years…what message does that send. Jerry should have cleaned house after the torching GB gave Dallas last post-season.

But hey…Jerry knows football!

Jerry is still angry that Jimmy gets the credit for the success in the early 90s. Jerry wants to be known as a football guy and get the credit for building a championship team.

Im not into psychology and hierarchies and what not...

But that "Good Cop, Bad Cop" comment by Jane was a good analogy if there are structure issues in Coaching/Upper Management.

That’s a huge salary disparity between Payton and his one SB with Brees and MM with Rodgers .

I will say with a rookie QB in Denver the talking heads thought Denver drafted too high Payton has brought Denver back from the abyss of a series of bad HC . He smartly moved on from expensive Russ Wilson .

MM in five yrs I don’t think has brought any progress in Dak or deep playoff runs . A Ben Johnson will not come cheap for Dallas to bring in an aggressive young Coach . 4-6 million won’t cut it , start at 7-8 and go north of that .

Worst GM in the league. He would rather lose doing things his way, than win doing it someone else’s way.

He has blind spots and is ignorant in some areas of football operations and roster building. It is very hard to overcome ignorance when arrogance has set in.

And that is the Jones family biggest hinderance. Pride. They think they know what they do not in reality understand, but they are unwilling to learn, so they will never change.

It is just an absolutely brutal time to be a Cowboys fan.

I know this is something we've all known but I think hearing someone of Jane's status in the media say it out loud and also confirm it's known and discussed among other coaches in the league was what was more interesting to me. Kind of incredible the most valuable franchise in professional sports is this cheap. Jerry has destroyed his legacy so much that the majority of the fanbase will celebrate his death. Not trying to take a low shot but at this point that's just a fact.

The frustrating part of this thing is that we can't vote out a failure like this when we see it.

This team is a dictatorship with no recourse

He just wants cameras in his face.

Making controversial decisions is how he does it, even at the detriment of his football team.

Make Money and Getting Cameras In My Face are his main objective. You dont have to be a genius GM to satisfy those objectives. In fact, being a bad GM is probably better for attracting cameras.

Sometimes I get the feeling that when Jerry dies it will be uncovered that he was deeply in debt like Michael Jackson.

I’m not exaggerating to say it’s dangerous for someone like Jerry with his age and mental capacity to be running something as complex as a football team
