Velvet Jones;2158023 said:Alright, give me why they can't be compared. Or is it just that you have a "feeling"? Give me some defense of your QB other than having a feeling. If it makes you feel better, I will compare him to Boller. The point is still the same.
Sonny#9;2158094 said:In Carter's only season as a staring QB, he threw 57.8% 3300 yards 17 TDs to 21 INTs, when the division wasn't nearly what it is now.
Campbell was on pace to surpass him in just about every category, facing much tougher competition last year. 60% passing, 2700 yards, 12 TD, 11 INT in 13 games.

Carter was out of the league a year later -- and don't tell me it was b/c of the drug charges. We've seen time and time again that players are give upteen chances -- usually with the Cowboys -- given they have the talent. Carter didn't. He played in 7 games with the Jets and was done.
I'll make a bet with anyone here who wants to take it. Injuries aside -- if Campbell is out of the league next year for performance issues, I will never post again here. The Mods can ban me. If not, you leave. Banned. Any takers?
cobra;2158117 said:So because QCampbell's stats are marginally better than Quincy Carter's, the comparison is IMPOSSIBLE and IGNORANT? Is that what you are saying? Despite the similar backgrounds, athletic ability, strengths, and weakness, you have deemed it ignorant to compare to the two due to a marginal difference in stats?
Wow, you're funny stupid, man.
Actually, you're just probably pissed off because your POS QB--who your franchise has invested multiple draft picks and its future in--is more closely comparable to some guy sucked so bad he is out of the league than he is comparable to our UFA legit franchise qb.
Sucks to be a Skins' fan, eh?
Velvet Jones;2158119 said:I am not comparing his drug issues. My comparison is flashes of talent followed by levies of mediocrity. And your numbers don't look too far off for a comparison to be made. You call us out as not being able to be unbias but you still have Campbell's taint sweat on your chin. To call Campbell anything other than a hope is laughable. I would love to see this thread again in two years when Campbell is on another team. I want to see your love for him then.
Skinsmaniac;2158019 said:And after 20 games he was 320/568 for 3366 yds 14tds and 31ints. Obviously the only reason he stuck around is that the Cowboys knew he had potential to be great.
Sonny#9;2158136 said:And you know what -- I'll do what so many on here can't. I'll admit I'm wrong. I still have a lot of faith in Campbell. And if you're so sure he's Carter all over, take my bet.
I agree, my point was not to say that Campbell is as good as Aikman - just that when evaluating potential you have to look past the stats.Bizwah;2158148 said:Let's remember that in Aikman's first two years, the Cowboys had little talent. He was thrown to the wolves as a rookie....No "grooming" process was given to him. Aikman's first year in the NFL was spent on a team with virtually no talent. We went 1-15. Aikman was 0-11 as a starter. In his second year, Emmitt arrived (a rookie) and Irvin was just coming off major knee surgery.
The point is that Campbell has played with a Pro-Bowl RB, LT, TE, and a decent WR. That's more than Aikman had in his first two seasons as a starter. He also had the opportunity to sit and watch a real NFL QB play.
Comparing Aikman to Campbell just doesn't wash.
Now, I think Campbell can develop into a solid QB. I think he'll have great games followed by good games, followed by poor games....I don't know if he'll be a great QB. But then again, there are very few great QBs in the NFL anymore. Good QBs are swept up by NFL teams.

Sonny#9;2158028 said:What does that have to do with the discussion at hand?

And how it compares to the rest of the league.
