Jason Garrett done as a coach?

I find it funny how some of you fans call Garrett the worst coach in history and then crap on Romo for not being able to take us to the Super Bowl.

Seems ro be liking this commentating gig. I wonder if he's done with coaching?
Probably should be to ride his announcing gig.

He's getting by on being a former Cowboy HC. More years as a flunky on another team would only hurt his brand.

Don't start with me. Is any team in the NFL stupid enough to hire him as coach? I hear up to 15 teams may be looking for new coaches.
Lol. I think there's a Junior High team out there waiting for him.

The guy was always overrated. Nobody but Jerry would have put up with him as long as he did.

Was Garret maddening as afan watching his teams, yes but the thing is while he was middling coach his teams always played for him thick or thin. I could see a team like Carolina hiring him to help rebuild and then firing him once the team has reached a certain level he is not capable of getting over. People forget there was a time that many had dallas in the basement of the NFCE while dallas was re-tooling the roster and he kept the team right around .500 when they were picked to be a 4 win team. But I do think he is at least done with coaching in the interim. And honestly he seemed like a smart enough guy that money is not the only driving factor for him.

Go ahead, say what you want, but I beleive Jason Garrett would be a great fit for a position in player scouting and evaluation. Both his father and brother spent a significant amount of time in scouting players. I'm not saying it's hereditary, but I'm sure they spent a lot of time around the dinner tables discussing the subject. I remember Jason discussing his interview with Dak before the draft. It was very interesting.

Media gigs typically don't last long for ex-players with the exception of a handful. Jason won't have a career in the media for long. I think he will either be in an NFL personnel department or coaching in college.
If you've got no talent then it doesn't matter how much time you had the privilege to spend on an endeavor.

To think of it Garrett coched Cowboys for more years than Jimmy Johnson.

If a Head Coaching position were to open up and he was offered it I think he could take time to consider it unless his contract with NBC states otherwise.

I like Garrett as an announcer tbh. But this team kept him around way, way too long.

To be fair Garett should have been done with coaching at the end of 2015.

@Idgit , did think JG was a good coach, he also thought Elliott was still good lol
Elliott? Wasn’t ever a fan of Elliott he was over drafted for his position and overpaid big-time on his renewal.

I do think Garrett was a good coach who was unfairly maligned in Dallas. At the very least, he wasn’t the problem here. Though I will say that McCarthy hiring Dan Quinn and the drafting of Micah were two significant upgrades for the organization. Garrett blew his DC hires his whole tenure, and it hurt him.

That said: it’s been pretty much business-as-usual around here since he’s been gone. Or are any of you thrilled with the post-Garrett results.

As I’d always said: HC has not been the issue in Dallas. It’s still not.

If he was good he'd have a job, especially since so many horrible HC out there
