Garrett
Wade
Campo
Gailey
Switzer

Length of employment puts Garrett in the top spot. But him and Wade should've never been hired.
Switzer was the worst because it set the tone for puppetry which has continued this era.

Parcells has been the only good hire since Jimmy. But for all of the wrong reasons .

That’s your perception it wasn’t a 1-7 team.

We are what our record is. It was a playoff team the previous year which many of us argued had many holes and was slipping. The team had been deflating under Wades tenure with 4 horrid drafts becoming a 6-10 team.

Wade is only HC to ever have a losing record with Romo starting, going 1-5. I have to believe the team must have slipped more than we thought to have such a record with Romo being we went 8-8 with some of the worse defenses in Cowboy history the next 3 years.

When you think of a 1-7 team one usually pictures a team with no QB to speak of and no real talent. Sort of like the Browns in the past few years.

That was not the Cowboys that year - they had a franchise QB and some talent around him. Now did they indeed go 1-7 - yes they did but thats called underachieving to put it mildly....its the reason Wade was fired.

And yes everyone could see that some were getting long in the tooth - namely the O-line - but that was in no way a 1-7 team.

I've wondered about exactly that last section in bold. Was Romo still installing the plays during the week in 2016? Do you have a reference for that?
Was he in Dak's ear (literally in his helmet comm) during games in 2016?

For your litany of facts, add Sparano was kept on as Assistant Head Coach in 2007. Offense declined in 2008 after he left.
To really know you had to have been paying attention to a ton of interviews where there are little slips or carefully worded responses to simple questions about how much each person (that we are discussing) was involved. It's only when somewhat malcontents on their way out really open up about what the inner workings are really like that we get confirmation of what's been intimated or talked around. As for the link where Romo confirmed he was in the headset, I'm having trouble locating it because in the one year he's been commentator he's predicted the upcoming play so often that when you google Romo, play, and call or calling you get nothing but links to 'Romo calls play before snap' so I'm having trouble locating it but give me some time.

Edit.
It might not have been an interview, possibly a mic'd up segment that showed him calling in the play to Dak and him being happy that it worked. My memory isn't as sharp as it once was but I'm positive that it happened, I'm still looking.

I’d agree it wasn’t a 1-7 team and why Wade was fired.

But I believe it was closer to a 6-10 team than the 11-5 team it was previous year.

No doubt Wade inherited a much better team than Garrett did.

I dont know if it was a 6-10 team but yes I agree it wasn't a 11-5 one either.

He is the best man who speaks in 2nd person I have ever heard. His uncanny ability to say "you" when referring to himself is unmatched by anyone. If there was a HOF for it his bust would already be waiting for him. He would be placed next to Romo who also has this ability albeit not quit as good as Garret.

This is a nonsense post because it treats Garrett as having a lifetime job no matter the results. Admittedly he has gotten a little more leeway than many or maybe most coaches would have, but it isn't a never ending gig.

The other thing is there is no reason to believe Garrett doesn't care or isn't working hard or is somehow compromised by things like clapping on the sidelines. That notion just comes out of some silly need to find a personal reason to dislike him. I'll never understand that need. All anyone needs to point to in order to justify a belief that Garrett should be terminated is the lack of consistency and lack of overall success. It doesn't have to be personal, and we don't have to make up nonsense, just stick with the facts.

Your response is actually a bigger piece of garbage, b/c Garret is being treated as if his job was a lifetime appointment, and RESULTS are all that matter. ONE playoff win in 7 seasons has never been an acceptable bar for any franchise outside of Cincy, let alone the Dallas Cowboys. He should have been fired along with Wade since it was his offense that was killing the team. But, just like his QB coaching days in Miami, it was promotion time. The only reason Garret has a HC job in the NFL right now is b/c our owner took a shine to him. He never merited this job and is clearly overwhelmed by it.

JG handles the day to day routine that young players need really well. They leave college where they were stars, eat 3 squares per day for free, and have a routine. He does the same thing here. Unfortunately he can't coach to save his life. He's never been able to get that feel for coaching. It's an art and you either have it, or you don't. It was very apparent when he was the OC. Romo, God love him, would bail us out of mess after mess. Anyone remember the chaos on a snap by snap basis that use to ensue? False starts, illegal motions, two men moving at the same time?

Once Linny came on finally that all stopped for the most part. Even though he runs JG's offense. Luckily we've had talent to overcome all of the bad coaching and schemes.

Where could we have gone however with a real HC is the true question?

He’s intelligent, organized, consistent, and able to dampen the circus atmosphere Jerry insists on cultivating. He develops players well. He keeps the team focused, and they play hard.

Most of what he does poorly is massively exaggerated by upset fans. They hated his play calling, though his offenses were generally in the top ten in the league in terms of production/series. They are his press conferences, though fail to understand he does it for a very good reason. They hate his clapping...never understood why that was such an issue. Really, what they’re unhappy about is the team not going on a playoff run, and when they don’t like that result, the easiest person to blame is the coach. Personally, I don’t think he’s miss d the playoffs with a playoff caliber team until last season.

Our first round drafting has been very good wit him as HC. How much he has to do with that is debatable.

Yes you read the title correctly. I am sincerely trying to see the positives of JG as our head coach. What competitive advantage do you feel he brings to the organization?

We are all waiting to find that out. He was great at getting hired and great at keeping his job by doing whatever he does in Jones ear. He is great at clapping. Other than that I see absolutely NOTHING he does well at all. Nothing.

And being smart I would say is true, but he isnt football smart.
