Yes. Philly tried to move him over to guard his last year there, I believe, and it didn't go too well. He's pretty much strictly a left tackle.

He was moved to back to LT before the season began because their LT was injured not because of performance at G.

If Tyler Smith can stop the progress of the DEs coming into our backfield, you'll be good with that too. I'm just saying give him a chance. Peters being on his third team in three years tells me he's not the guy we need.
If they go with Smith, I'll give him a chance. If they go with Peters, I'll give him a chance.

I don’t think he’s gonna be cheap as everyone thinks, his agent is aware of the tackle situation in Dallas

I’m betting this is kick the tires move so that if Smith gets lit up in week 1 we bring in Peters if Smith can hold his own we won’t

Now here's a past LT that was moved to Guard.

Exactly what should have been done with Tyron this training camp to allow Tyler reps at LT.

Instead the team took the reactive approach and just hoped for the best.

Now here we are.
Problem was Smith isn’t ready to play LT.

We don't have to guess which way they are going first. Jerry Jones has already proclaimed Tyler smith our starting LT, week 1. The Cowboys visiting with Peters is about contingency plans if Tyler Smith at LT does not pan out.

He played for $2 million last year, but he was coming off an end-is-near season. I think it will take at least double that, so $ million to $5 million. We have the money and we don't have the tackles, so I'm all for it.

Or Smith's ankle isn't as minor as they thought.

I'm fine with that. I'd rather have him as vet insurance and Tyler play great at tackle and McGovern at guard, just in case the great part doesn't happen, which I think is a distinct possibility.

Hopefully? Lol he’s still a solid starting LT evidence by his tape last year. We’d be lucky to have him, he’s ten times better than any active LT we have.
You are making a common mistake by confusing what he used to be with who he is now. Being on his third team in the three years should dissuade you from thinking he is still that guy you remember he was.

I’m going off his tape from last year as well as watching him play. He graded out (not ranking but pass block and run block ratings) in the 70’s which is pretty good, certainly much better than anyone on our roster. What did you see from his play to say he’s not good anymore? Just the fact that he’s been on multiple teams isn’t really a good sign. He’s old so teams aren’t going to sign him to a multi-year deal, he’s basically a mercenary at this point.

Here’s his tape in this thread:
