I think Tyler will end up being a fantastic LT for us, but there is a big jump going from the AAC to starting against the Bucs as a rookie, especially after spending TC as a LG.
I would much rather he cut his teeth at LG with a former all-pro next to him then on an island at LT.

Probably bc if they signed him, it would be after week 1 so they are not on the hook for him all year.

Or because they wanted to wait and see if someone they liked got cut first before going this route, given that cut down day was yesterday.

I like it. He can still be serviceable and has a wealth of knowledge he can impart on the rookie/young OTs.

Swing tackle...check. Possible starter if the rookie doesn't look good...check. Possible starter and the rookie replaces McGovern at OG...check.

I mean....

At least they're looking into it I guess...

It's okay pumpkin. You're gonna make it through this week. PM me if any bad thoughts start to creep in. I am always willing to help out! Remember the technique we've been talking about! Breathe....in through the nose.......count to 5...exhale. You got this.

Didn't say he could. I'm saying if he can, I'm good.
If Tyler Smith can stop the progress of the DEs coming into our backfield, you'll be good with that too. I'm just saying give him a chance. Peters being on his third team in three years tells me he's not the guy we need.

I've been advocating for this move since before Tyron was injured. Good vet insurance. I'd still give Tyler and Connor first crack at it, but having Peters there to step in provides us with an option in case either one struggles. He's not prime Peters, but he's better than what we've got at backup and possibly even at LT starter right now.

I think based on our 53-man roster (only missed Ridgeway over Watkins, and no backup QB/Harper) and practice squad (only missed Maher), the Dallas front office is reading my posts this year.

That stat is reflective of the Bears franchise talent evaluation & acquisition overall recently.
39 year-old player that in a single season eclipsed what every other Bears OLineman - drafted or FA - in three seasons.

The best thing to do is stick him at RT and let Steele be the swing tackle.

My prediction. They agree to somewhere around 2 mil a season and agree to sign him after the first game. The O-line doesn't do so well against Tampa Bay and the price doubles.

Played all last year. Look, in his prime, this dude was comparable to Tyron...he is a Hall of Fame level OT. Made 10 Pro Bowls. He was a top tier talent. Even now, he is still decent. He would at the very least be a dependable fallback option and can be signed for relatively cheap. I think it's a no brainer.

Agree with all that IF he's in shape...give him 2-3 mil for the year and maybe a bonus on top of that for games played. GOOD swing tackle and/or backup in case Smith falters.

Who wears 71 now? If he signs, at least it would cost less to buy the jersey now than if Collins still wore it.
