No. Get someone with experience in the NFL or advanced as a Coordinator to HC in College or Pro. See Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson, and Bill Parcells. Stop hiring people to learn on the job see Garrett, and Moore.

Well, maybe not at OC immediately, but I would like him at least to start here as a TE coach and work his way up. I think a few years at TE coach for him should be good.

No kidding. Sometimes I miss the old forum lol. That said, this forum is usually fun. Just sucks that it's hard to show any positivity or positive ideas here at the moment.
I believe a lot of us are just tired of the way things are going. It's hard staying positive when the GM comes out making the most outlandish statements by trying to sell it to the fan base and world. Do some of us wish the best for this team, Yes. But if we're honest with ourselves we see dark clouds overhead.

Sure, and I get that. Like I said, either Vrabel or Johnson would be good choices, and getting Witten in as a TE coach wouldn't be a bad idea either .
Vrabel and Johnson will be in demand which means they will not be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys fans want to believe there are top candidates straining at the leash to come work for Jerry Jones. It’s more likely the opposite. Most have probably instructed their representation not to engage with the Dallas franchise. I doubt Jerry Jones could convince McCarthy to stay sans doubling his salary.

Jerry has to consider high school coaches as candidates for head coach of his team. Otherwise there would be no pool of candidates. Give Jerry some wiggle room on the topic of next head coach.

Imma say this as politely as possibly when it comes to HC or OC, DC any C positions

I don’t want nobody from the Jason Garrett Era near this team

It’s Ben Johnson or bust because as HC Ben will also be OC

Not sure many remember Garrett speaking at Jason's retirement but he stops short of saying even though he played TE, he still knew the responsibilities of every offensive position (OL, RB, WR, QB ). My is you can hire him as any position coach AND mentor him at the same time. I personally think he would be a good OLine, TE or QB coach.

Oh, I am as well. I'm 31, so, you can imagine my frustration. That said, I'm trying to find positive ideas.

Yes, let’s get somebody with experience somebody the league already knows inside out I know Kellen Moore is really screwing up in Philly isn’t he?
Landry invented the 4-3 and was the coordinator in NY. Jimmy Johnson improved on the 4-3 and zone defense and was a coordinator at Arkansas and Pittsburgh (see Ricky Jackson and Hugh Green). Parcells was coordinator at Army, Texas Tech, NY Giants, and along with Belichick innovated the 3-4 Defense..

Moore may have some experience now but he learned on the job was elevated without the time put in like Jon Gruden and Sean McVay to learn to coach and lead a team. Hard pass on Moore.

My 5 year old grandson can coach the talent in Philly.

So, firstly, below is his record as a HS coach since taking over in 2021.

https://www.nfl.com/news/11-time-cowboys-pro-bowl-te-jason-witten-coaches-high-school-team-to-state-title#:~:text=Liberty Christian is a kindergarten,26-10 in three seasons.

I think Jason Witten is an intriguing option. Based on a previous thread about Jerry talking about Witten as a potential NFL coach. He's got a good record as a coach in high school. What if we had him as OC?

I think Vrabel, Ben Johnson, or Glenn at HC and Witten at OC would be intriguing options. I, for one, would be intrigued to see it. I think Vrabel at HC, Witten (who knows Dak) at OC, and Bones at ST would be a fascinating coaching room. I could see that room developing a physical team. I would sign up for that actually.

Well, do I think Witten will be a good HC in the NFL right away? No, but do I think with time learning he can become a good NFL HC when he figures out NFL coaching? If Jerry wants to go college route, then Deion might be the best option he can get. Especially with how well Deion knows him.

That is the progression of Dan Campbell, TE. I would be OK to groom him as HC than bringing back Kellen Moore. However, Just like Campbell, Witten is a leader of men and not a Coordinator. He would have to have a very strong staff like Campbell has in Motown.

Well, yeah, and I looked at Campbell's history:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Campbell

I think it definitely could work. But I would probably say that his first job should be TE coach with Campbell. As much as I want him here, he should start as an intern or TE coach with Detroit under his old teammate. Then, if he's what I think he is as a coach, we can bring him in as HC. That way, he can learn NFL coaching from the guy who taught him how to be an NFL tight end.

Oh yeah!!! I forgot Mayo!!! So yeah, I think a new wave of coaches is coming to the NFL. We may as well embrace it. I think Witten is the right person, but he has to start somewhere. Tight end coach either here or in Detroit would be a good way for him to begin.

You guys have to do better than this. not every super star makes a good coach.

Just stop the insanity.

We know nothing will get better until Jerry and Stephen are done; No matter who you bring in.

I mean, I'm not saying to make Witten a HC right away. But, I think he can develop into a good one in the pros. I think he'd be well served to start as a TE coach. I know the Joneses are a problem, but do you think the Lions front office was much better than what we have before Campbell? Mind you, his first dead was awful, but you could see the change in culture beginning in 2021. In say, 2019, what did you think of the Lions FO? Maybe if Witten can become our version of Campbell, he can overcome the Joneses the way Campbell has overcome the Fords.

True, and a TE coach would be a good place to start imo. The reason I mentioned his hs coaching record is because it shows he can instill a culture. He knows how to win. I think starting him at TE coach and letting him work his way to OC isn't a bad idea. I think at some point, he will make a good NFL OC.
i agree completely
