1. If Witten reduced his base salary to $1 million, this move theoretically could have added $4.8 million to the Cowboys cap space.

2. On Tuesday, the Cowboys had to give back $2.5 million of cap space for a loan they (along with most NFL teams) took at during the 2011 and 2012 seasons of the new CBA.

I heard rumblings of that this winter but thought they factored it in already with the rollover and adjustments

7.4m is still a high base for Witten but not outrageous......the new years are like Team Options with no guaranteed money...... he should have gave back some base for more future guarantees......oh well glad to see him as a Lifer
