Do you have some inside info?

Nothing on twitter or in the media indicates that the nerve has "fired".

He meant fully recover and be able to play. He said the 6 inches of damaged nerve should regrow 1 inch a month and could fire anytime after that. It's been well past the 6 months and it's still just regenerating which is the same as regrowing. That process should have been done many months ago. Once it refires, he still has months of rehab and physical therapy to go. It's not going to refire one day and the next day he is 100% ready to go without the brace. There is no disputing that he is way behind the best case scenario for his recovery and it is still very much in doubt if he ever fully recovers.

actually i looked into it a while back.
1 inch per month was best case.
so we were all basing on the best case and hoping he played late in the season...

i have also read cases that got off the brace within 8-9 months.
so jaylon's case recovered slower than those particular cases...

There is nothing in his knee for people to go after. It's structurally sound.
These are football players we are talking about. Not exactly the top of the intellectual food chain.

They will go after his knees and he better be ready for it.

Thanks. I was going to go looking for this again. He's come out and said it's regenerating. That's good enough for me.

Now, the question is how good a pro can he be given the injury, the normal rookie transition, and the time off. Let's hope he's good enough that the wasted defensive resource for last year was worth it. I hate to think that one more defender with some ability could have been the difference in that GB game.

It does more than that. It says that his brain is adjusting to the nerve firing again and catching up. How does one catch up to something that does not exist?

There's a 50% chance that Jaylon Will be 100% by training camp...

I'm almost positive there were videos posted last week or two weeks ago of him without the brace. He was heavily taped during the drills, but without the brace running and cutting.

I personally think he started taking the brace off at least part time last November when those pics of him with his nieces surfaced on twitter showed him not wearing it.

That is when I think the nerve first started to fire. Of course the usual suspects told me I was wrong, trying to play doctor, and the like.

General practice Doctors tend to be terrible at answering these kinds of questions. There are Doctors that put out terrible information on the internet.

I actually prefer somebody like @FuzzyLumpkins analysis over nonsense that some Doctors put out on the internet or even a couple of general practice guys that I know who are Cowboys fans.

In casual conversation, Doctors rarely admit they don't know something. They prefer to just give out BS answers because they think all non-Doctors will automatically believe them.

See my recent post.

What does "go after his knee" actually even mean? He's on defense and will be attacking downhill.

I'd say the tendency to BS and appeal to intellectual authority is a failing of many smart people and not anything unique to doctors. Blowhards on the internet come in all shapes and sizes, but really the only unique thing for doctors is they possibly have some level of professional exposure if their thoughts are interpreted as medical advice or a medical opinion.

But I like it when guys like Fuzzy (et al) take the time to try to understand an issue and convey the particulars. One, it's commendable because the material requires horsepower. Two, it makes the discussions better and generally raises the level of discourse. Which is why I have an equal and opposite interpretation of the opinions of people choosing not to engage on the subject matter and instead throwing poo at those posters for their effort and then pretending there's some integrity in that. As if anybody is going to be quoting Fuzzy Lumpkins theories on nerve regeneration at dinner parties or diagnosing high school football injrues with CowboysZone open in the background out of a fan parked across from the football field.

If the nerve is firing, so to speak, would there be a reason why the front office would be cryptic in updating the media? Does it benefit them withholding information? Honest question btw

Jaylons nerve firing is like. Bigfoot sightings, the Loch Ness monster, crop circles, Area 51 and Ancient Aliens.

Don't forget the Bermuda triangle.

I say we bring Trump in, he'll fire the nerve!

That's what I figured you were referencing.

He didn't say that it's firing. He said it's regenerating because the Doctor's say so and he feels stuff.

He said he would need the brace to play.

The writer mentioned something about it firing but Jaylon didn't really say that.

If it was really firing, all of the local sports media would jump on the story.

Why would the front office need to provide an update on Jaylon's nerve firing when all it is worried about is whether he plays?

I don't think updates are necessary. When OTAs and training camp rolls around, we'll know whether he's ready or not.

That's the bottom line.

Isn't firing and regenerating the same thing? He said he's getting feeling back. If a nerve is firing, then it's getting feeling back. Hence, it's firing. Unless there's some different meaning between firing and regenerating.

I don't think so.

To me, regenerating means the nerve is regrowing, repairing, etc. It's making connections again.

Firing means the nerves have repaired and they are staring to create movement, feeling, etc. I'm imagining it's like having a foot that's fallen asleep. At first you don't feel anything, then you start feeling the tingling sensation, finally you slowly get full mobility back.

I think he may be at the tingling stage.

But then again....I'm no expert.

Yeah I can throw it all out there with impunity whereas you have to mince words due to malpractice liability.
