agree.

here's some encouraging news. Source NFL.com interview from March of this year....

The skinny: The most surprising thing to happen at Notre Dame's pro day didn't come on the field; it came out of Jaylon Smith's mouth. The Fighting Irish's star linebacker, who suffered a severe knee injury three months ago in the Fiesta Bowl, told NFL Media's Mike Mayock he is already leg pressing more than 600 pounds and squatting more than 400 in the weight room as his recovery continues. "It's just a matter of time. I'll be fine,"

This is good to hear :)

Unfortunately, it's not up to Smith. I like the kid and I hope he makes it back on the field, but he's not playing this year.

Oh yeah? Where's my Magic 8 ball? I wanna take a stab at this too.

There's the physical recovery and then there's the mental aspect of it one can't overlook. It was a devastating injury so it'll take some time for him to trust his knees if its fully recovered or make adjustments to it. Then there's the physical contact part and not worrying about taking a hit there.

Wish the best for him. May take 2 years to see the REAL Smith on the field if he makes the recovery.

Well, if God is doing the work then I guess we all have nothing to worry about. Gimme a break, please.

I like his faith. I for one was miraculously healed by God of stage 4 cancer. It totally stumped my oncologist to the point that he had to admit it was by God only. I will not doubt God's ability to heal Jaylon Smith's knee either.

For those of you who saw him play, is he a MIKE, SAM or WILL?

Mike or Will. He is nothing like Von Miller, despite what the other guy said. One major concern I have about him is that he doesn't block shed, and doesn't take on a lot of blocks. He maneuvers his way out of the play instead of sticking his nose in there. Reminds me a lot of Bruce Carter when he was at his best.

The Cowboys balanced their win-now selection of running back Ezekiel Elliott in round one with a play-later option in second-round linebacker Jaylon Smith. But don’t tell Smith that he won’t be playing in 2016.

Asked by reporters after getting picked Friday night whether he’ll play this year, Smith said, “Absolutely. Never doubt God.”

Smith suffered a serious knee injury during hisfinal game with Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. Concerns regarding nerve damage caused him to fall, but he ended up being drafted earlier than expected — even earlier than linebacker Myles Jack.

“I get different sensations everyday with the nerve, but it’s just a timing thing,” Smith said. “I’m only three-and-a-half months out, so time will definitely tell, but the knee is fine. That was cleared at the medical recheck that the knee won’t have any issues. But it’s just a timing thing for the nerve. It’s too early in the process to tell. . . .

“There’s no recovery time because this is a process where we’re relying on God to do his work. We have to be patient and you know the nerve can come back tomorrow. It’s just a timing thing. Whenever it wants to come back, it’ll come back.”

Yes, play, but how effectively? Moronic draft decision. This has Jerry written all over it. He could have picked up Smith in the 4th round.
