So to some up this thread and the previous other Smith threads.
We still don't really have a clue what the hell is going on.
Based on What Jalen has been saying I feel confident he is improving, and thats all you can ask for right now.
The fact that hes running a 4.4-4.5 40 right now, when 90% of the lb in the league cant, brace or no brace is all i need to feel positive.
The fact that he said he thinks he could play now at an elite level is big, He knows what he can do more than anyone, its not like he doesnt realize what is required to play football?
Did some of you guys watch this guy? He could dominate at 80% no doubt, still be bigger faster and better than 90% of his peers. Its like someone put Dexter Coakley and his heat-sinking missle speed and fire in Rolando Mclains body!
That said, looking back at the second round last year, it wasnt that great imo.
Even if Jalen busts, we didnt miss out on much imo, Michael Thomas was the one guy I second guess over.
Jack hasn't doen jack, , Spence, no thanks!
The guys who went right before our picks were solid, but I dont see much otherwise to cry over
.
Dion Jones in hindsight?
Eh, whatever!
Im riding w Jalen all day long!
Stephen Jones:
"The question is how physically well he gets by the start of next season in terms of some of what he still has hampering him somewhat. But our guys are convinced he can play in his current condition <pause> and it should only continue to improve as we go."

He is talking about what is affecting Jaylon still in terms of a matter of degree as opposed to the binary on/off.
This is the biggest question for me -- some seem to indicate that it is an on/off thing -- one day, it's not firing, the next, it is. Which frankly always sounded a little off to me, simply for the fact that the muscle would be so atrophied, it would be hard to recognize that the nerve is firing anyway, you still couldn't move your foot because your muscles simply wouldn't allow you to. I think this is a degree of healing thing and as I said yesterday, I find it hard to believe there hasn't been ANY improvement, given the way Jaylon has been moving in recent videos.
But this drop foot thing isn't the end of the world -- yes, you compensate for it because your foot is hanging lower than normal, but I have not felt any loss of side to side stability and if I had a brace to pick up the front of my foot, I could easily envision being close to my normal self, especially after getting used to it.
Hunter Henry is great player. I expect him to be a top 3-4 TE within the next 2 yearsHow about Hunter Henry.
Yes, but what would happen to your leg if you were caught up in a gang tackle with 1000 lbs of other human beings all crashing into each other and then the ground and your locked in place foot was caught in a situation where it needed its normal range of motion? Do you think that stress might travel up your leg until it finds your knee? And then what happens? I just cant get the image of his knee shredding or his leg snapping in two when a 300lb OL falls on him and that brace locks his foot in place so that something else has to give. I just don't think he can escape a major injury with that brace on. Not in the NFL. Could he do some type of non contact sport? Absolutely.
Why isn't nerve grafting an option? From what people posted here stats wise, it's got a decent success rate. I'm not sure if the procedure would take him out of the running of playing in 2018??
not saying this is about Rapoport for sure, but Sturm has had run ins with him before about getting things wrong
Based on???another wasted 2nd round pick
