This is what was said about Rappoport back in October/November when he tweeted that Gregory was awaiting another suspension after another failed drug test.

Kill the messenger. That's what we do.

Turns out he was absolutely correct. Doesn't necessarily he is about Smith. But it is a mistake to simply sluff off his tweet because you don't like what he says.

It's not that, and basically everyone said the same thing about Gregory.

Jaylon Smith says the nerve in his leg is regenerating

"Yeah, it's regenerating," Smith said of his nerve in his left leg. "It's just a thing that you have to have patience. I'm going to continue to do everything I'm asked and controlling what I can control and we're going to take our time with it."

How does Smith know his nerve is regenerating in his leg? Is it because doctors have told him or is it something he's feeling now that he wasn't feeling before?

"Both. Doctors and tests all of that good stuff, feeling," Smith said. "There are things I didn't have before that I'm definitely getting now."

Also note: this story was written in January, two months ago.

The knee is fine. But running involves not only the knee but all the muscles in the foot. If your foot is not operating properly, it stresses other muscles you need to maneuver, including the knee.

From what I gathered, the poster is saying that there will be undue stress placed on his knee, which will likely cause it to give out quicker than it would if Jaylon had all his leg muscles working for him.

Not just that. I'm saying in the course of playing football, a linebacker is in all types of collisions and pile ups that twist and turn every part of their body. Now you take a brace which locks his foot in the up position and put him in those same collisions and pile ups. What is going to happen when that leg is in a position where it needs the foot's natural movements to occur? In my mind, that stress or twisting is going to go right up his leg to the next weakest point which is his knee. He may escape a catastrophic injury for a while but it will build and build until it finally gives out on a routine tackle or change of direction.

Regenerating is fine but really doesn't mean anything. It should have been done regenerating 6-7 months ago. It could fully regenerate and never fire. The keyword to look for is refiring not regenerating. He needs to be able to shed the brace or it was a wasted pick.

14 months since the surgery and if we know one thing about Jerry, it is that if the nerve had been firing before now, he would not be able to contain himself and found the nearest microphone to announce it to the world.

Hadn't thought of that, but thats probably true.

you guys crap on rappoport as if he hasn't been right on some things. plus he's getting cosigned by fisher. what more do you want? confirmation from blackie from heaven?

No I expect him to talk to the player himself. Who has a better understanding of the situation, Smith or unnamed person?

Another great offseason coming. Jaylon's nerve not firing. Romo released without getting draft picks. Signing no free agents other than our own trash defenders. And a much tougher schedule looming. Jeez
:hammer: This off season has been a disaster so far. There's plenty of time left to change it around but I feel like our team is getting worse this off season rather than improving.

IMO if we do not make the correct moves, the Giants will over take us this year. They will upgrade their line and rb through FA and the defense will have one more year under their belt. Last year was the first year for Vernon, snacks, and Jenkins to play in that system together. Now they can gel and Improve.

Not too late to make moves. March 9 is just around the corner. Make those under table deals and let's go Cowboys

was a bad pick to start in with was a player we should of never drafted will never be more than a average player at best
I take all of your predictions to heart because they're always so accurate. Eerie even. If you hit this target with your regular aim Jaylon should be getting fitted for that gold jacket this time next year.

Not true.

After Rappoport tweeted about Gregory, there was a 10-20 page thread basically slamming him as a hack and making stories up.
People hate rappoport around here! Why is that? I think he's cool, but why do so many zoners hate him. He's just reporting news

Rapoport's source is most likely Stephen Jones. Stephen obviously keeps in contact with Jaylon Smith. Stephen says "he thinks" Jaylon can play with a brace. Does that inspire confidence? The writing's on the wall.

The only off-season event that has even happened yet has been teams franchise tagging guys. You're waving the white flag before a shot has been fired.

Very accurate post. Having a good draft will be of paramount importance, as will smart moves in free agency. Last year's quality draft was a huge reason for our success this past season. Will we be able to draft well again? That's the big question.
