Jeanty : Isnt he just a slightly better version of Deuce ? Not worth a round one pick

not sure why i am defending Jeanty but he also played the no 1 team in the country Oregon and had 200 yards and 3 TDs,there are legitimate concerns about his workload(755 carries in college is almost double of most of his contemporaries) but he has elite traits.
At least a top 6 player in this draft.

So did LT and Faulk who are hall of famers from weak college conferences
Oh, agreed, add Jerry Rice and Walter Payton to that list. There are exceptions to every rule.

But like I said, just advising caution.

He’s not just a top 5 player on the board because he rushed for over 2K. He’s that high because of his elite traits. The kid is Barclay like with his contact balance. It’s not like he was running sweep after sweep either. He’s can run it right down your throat and still break out.

For those who are ballyhooing Jeanty, just remember the number of folks that were raving over Kellen Moore's 50-3 record at the same Boise State.

And how did he do in the NFL? I'll wait.

Jeanty played teams like Utah State, Washington State, Wyoming, San Jose State, and Nevada, to mention a few. So he played great against lower-level Division 1 teams, he won't have many of those games in the NFL. Like for example, in the bowl game against Penn State, it took Jeanty 30 carries to get 104 yards. How many touchdowns? Nary a one. Take away his long carry of 26 yards, and he averaged less that 2.7 yards per carry. Now sure, Penn St was a very good team, don't expect Jeanty to get 250 yards against them.

But great backs find a way to make yards, regardless of the opposition.

Not that I'm saying with 100% certainty that he'll be an NFL bust. I'll give him a chance, like most any player. Just advising caution...

But I would also note I gave Randy Gregory a chance, and again, how'd that work out? Had a few good games but was cut after multiple chances to do well. And I liked Gregory, but liking has nothing to do with evaluating his potential in the NFL.

I agree, not a first rounder, second at best...
a team record vs a players specific individual stats is already a bad proposition for a comparison. also "great backs find a way to make yards" he still had 100 yards lol. against a dominant defense that completely sold out to stop him.

How'd he do against number 1 oregon? 192 and 3 tds. fun fact 192 was his avg. so he did exactly what he always does against one of the best teams in the nation.

Also remember he is Boise State only weapon and every team game planned to stop him, they lost 2 games all season and that was to Oregon and Penn State.

Jeanty is 5-9 which could be 5-8 and 215 lbs. Has good speed, not sure how fast he is, I did see some that caught up to him.
He ran thru a lot of tackles, which wont happen as much in the nfl. And everyone is faster at NFL level.
I dont think he will be a bust, but he wont be as prolific as he was in college.

you cant judge these guys by stats, it is better to use the eye test.

I thought Henry was the RB to take instead of elliot, and I liked the RB detroit (name escapes me lol) picked over Bijian.
You don't like jeanty because of his size, then in the same post say you loved Gibbs, who he weighs more than and is the same height as....

they lost 2 games all season and that was to Oregon and Penn State
The rest of the teams they beat were all unranked, except for UNLV, ranked 23rd, and they only beat them by 5 pts. That game Jeanty had 128 yds rushing but again, it took him 33 attempts, for 3.88 ypc, their qb threw 1 td, ran for another, and they made 2 fgs. Jeanty had 1 td, for 1 yard.

I'm not saying he'll be a bust, but how many draftees have been lauded to the skies by Cowboys fans, only to see them get cut after a year or two?

Been burned too many times by player fans were all gaga over, only to see them flop out of the NFL in a year or two or 3.

I myself was very enthused about Matt Johnson, 6-1, 212 lb. and 4.52 forty-time safety, only to see him have constant hammy issues and never play a down for the Cowboys in the regular season. Released after 2 years.

Sorry, while I hope Jeanty is another Emmitt Smith, I'll reserve judgement until he actually does great...

One good game does not an NFL top rb make. Oregon may, and I would submit did, let him run and concentrated on stopping the pass.

Which they did, BS's qb was 17 of 40 for 148 yards, 1 td. And Boise had a return for a td as well.

If you want to make Jeanty out to be another Emmitt, feel free, but while I'm not from Missouri, I still say "Show me".

Here's hoping I'm wrong....

well he had far far more good games than one. I just used one specific example to counter the one you used to discredit him. i am not making him out to be emmitt or anyone so no need to put words in my mouth. I just thought your argument / logic was a bit shaky.

Many of the trusted media scouts believe he is a top 5 player in this class. Even in those two losses he was over 100 yards, it’s not like they totally shut him down. He is good as Robinson who came out two years ago

..
One the problems TODAY is not many teams with $150-200M+ QBs are going to feature their RB as the focus of the offense. It devalues the player with 100s of millions invested. Think Eagles ...........their offense now runs through Barkley, NOT Hurts who making $50+M. Now I'm reading/ hearing nuggets questioning whether or not Hurts is worth his contract.
I would love to take Jeanty but if we are going to be a run-first team, he's not enough. We will need another good to very good RB to take some of the load 17 games........Think Lion's two featured RBs...

So every single person out there is wrong and you are right? Show me ANY of the draft shows, websites, magazines, talking heads ANYONE that agrees with you.

Do your own research. I don't blindly follow "every single person", mostly because I'm not the "only one".

But since you made that comment, I'll just quote DandyDon52 on this site:
"I don't think he is a round 1 or 2 pick, maybe 3rd or 4th at best."

Does he count as "ANYONE"?

But that's fine, we'll know in a year or two or three who's right, won't we? If I'm wrong, I'll be front and center saying I was wrong.

Will you do the same if you're wrong?

You remind me of cowboy Cas (or some screen name like that) on the old Dallas Cowboys fan site, we argued for months about how she claimed some linebacker for the Browns was a surefire HOF player, best in the league, etc. Well he never did squat and was out of the league in about 3 years. But did she come back on the site and say she was wrong?

Nope, never heard from her again.

Let's revisit Jeanty in a couple of years....

Penn State who has a legitmate defense shut him down, I feel like he is a considerable risk at 12.

when 25 people in a row say you are drunk, time to borrow a quarter and lay down in the gutter.
When every single draftnik says you are full of crap, time to go to the toilet

Iowa running back did more against better teams with absolutely no passing game to speak of.

Then why didn't we pursue Barkley and save a 1st round pick? Plenty of cap space.
