Jeff Heath - worst player in football?

BTW, last week on this board Devonte Holloman sucked too. Amazing what experience can do for a young player.

He's fast and you can't teach fast. He seems to be always around the ball, but when it's in the air he needs to learn to look up, or something other than just looking helpless while the catch is made. Our safeties have been abused by Hail Marys for years, it didn't start with Heath. They always seem to arrive late and have no idea where the ball is. Ask Eli.:)

In any case, the question is if Heath is one of the worst players in football, and I just don't think that is the case. He is certainly substantially below the median, though.

Bottom line with Heath is he lacks some serious coaching. He has raw talent and, like you state, you can't coach that. What he lacks is refinement as a DB. With more coaching this off season he may actually be a solid safety in the near future.

He had a big bullseye on his back last night. He belongs on special teams.

We had lots of spares playing with targets on their backs last night, and surprisingly, they didn't do too badly as a unit. Take away the first interception and fumble, and the Cows would have possibly won that game.

You look at the names on the jerseys out there, and it's no wonder that the defense was ranked last.

It was very clear that Nick Foles was targeting Heath last night. Every time Foles walked to the line fo scrimmage, he knew where Heath was, and it wasn't because he was trying to avoid him.

The defense leveled off immediately after target boy was yanked early in the game. The difference was stark and impressive. Special team might be his best shot.

My Moron indicator for this year is anyone that suggests cutting Heath.

He is a rookie UDFA that overachieved to even be on the roster. Getting worked up about a player that was in over his head from lack of experience is ridiculous.

Just bring all of those types of players to training camp and go from there. He is young with physical upside. Maybe he gets better, maybe not, but there is zero cost to bringing him to training camp.

If you use the JJ-Garret logic, he should start and be great in 4-5 years after we learn from his mistakes..

Will Allen. He had to be better than his guy, right? Why did we cut him again?

If Heath's on the roster, he'll see time at safety because you just know that whoever is in front of him on the depth chart won't stay healthy.

In analyzing the Cowboy vs other teams, one of their downfalls has been the over-dependence on stopgap veterans. This leads to a lack of development of young players because the stopgap vets get all of the valuable playing time that the young players need to get experience. Stopgaps like Will Allen get you 8-8 and then they are too old the following seasons and you don't have anyone with experience to take over which leads to another stopgap veteran.

This was a better 8-8 season than some other 8-8 seasons because many young players gained valuable experience. They won't all be successful because of the experience, but the more that get experience the better the odds of hitting on some successes.

Basically McCray of this year. Isn't bad at what he's supposed to do, except he was thrust into one of the most important roles on the field, floundered in it, yet was continually sent out there to do so,,,
