I think we have had a good draft so far. You never really know for at least a year or two. I do think the trade down at 24 was good and drafting lineman has been good. They still need a RB.

The problem is when you have zero Invested in free agency, everything rests on the draft and current player development. It is not a modern approach to building a top roster In the NFL cap era.
Bob, you do realize that free agency and trades go all the way up to the season and untilthe trade deadline,

I mean we have a lot of offseason left to fill the holes they don't get in the draft,

I still believe they're going to get one of the three running backs left in the draft that are still on the big board, so they're rated way higher than where they slipped down to Zeke will not be a #1 running back, they will use a running back by committee if they have to,

I continue to tell you guys why do you need to post things that Jerry says just ignore it, it doesn't need to be said, you think he's serious and he may think he's serious but Mike McCarthy the rest of his team they don't feel that way, they're not going to give all the carries to Ezekiel Elliott but they started the proper way you fix the offensive line 1st and you can make good backs a running back by committee very efficient..

But I truly believe they will get one of these last three backs you know the kid from Notre Dame or Kentucky or Allen most people around here were very high on Allen.. Last I checked he's still there, will they go get one of these three I don't know but you can take Jerry seriously all you want but I keep telling you guys stop worrying about what's being said whether they're serious or not whether it's a smokescreen whether they believe it or not I don't believe that's how it's going to end up on the field that's why you have a coaching staff that's why you're offensive and defensive coordinators are going to call the plays not Jerry.. These coaches jobs are on the line they're not gonna hand the ball 600 times to zeke just to satisfy the owner I promise you that that's a bunch of old narratives that are not true zeke will simply settle into a role here..

I take nothing anybody says in the front office seriously anymore, it doesn't bother me one way or the other ,I'm indifferent because I don't care long as they put another 10-to-12-win team that can compete for the division and get in the playoffs it gives us a shot at being a contender, that's all i care about, that's settled on the field. We can't talk about what has or has not been done this offseason because it's not finished.

In the past this is their MO, I don't know how you guys are surprised they do most of their shopping for their free agents after the draft and they make trades like they did for cooks and Gilmore and Hankins... they will do that a few weeks after the draft it'll start Monday but they have a list I'm sure of it and it may not be what everybody wants, and it may not be the names on your list, but they will find a way to put together a competitive team because they have the last three years.

My confidence isn't in the front office or the GM nor is my support but what are we going to do just complaining about it and mocking them and making this place into a circus by constantly posting what they say and then saying the same things every day is becoming very redundant...

The same people come on these threads and say the same thing about the same people and they keep posting it yes Jerry and Stephen say stupid ****, so I'm just saying when you see some things they say on Twitter or some of the dumb remarks they say in press conferences it happens you just got to learn to just ignore it ,

why does it affect you so much??

Like you said it's been a pretty solid draft so far, most people have given it a B plus, some have given it an A because they working in the trenches they filled needs with athletic players some players had high grades they didn't reach for many although I didn't know the two defenders, I don't know how they're going to work out but apparently they're similarities to some of our ex-players like Dorance Armstrong and yeah the linebacker they're saying he's raw but has a lot of upside, I don't know... But they're not finished with the draft they do almost all their work post draft leading right up to the season they're going to do what they always do and I don't understand why you guys complain about it because this is just the way it is,

complaining all the time, whining ,posting negativity and post that are super redundant, it won't change a single thing... We simply as a fan base all we can do is watch and debate the games and how the season went...

I’d have taken Lloyd late in the 3rd.
On second thought, I like this suggestion in today’s NFL. If we bring Zeke back it would be good to grab one of the smaller change of pace backs left as well.

He does ... if you like your starting RB1 to average 3 yards per carry. Elliott has hit the wall. He may not get worse than 3.5 but he's not going to get better, either. I'm fine with signing him, but he should have been signed to complement another back, not as RB1.
and that's why we are in the declining state that we are now in ...

If a ten year old playing fantasy football says “Zeke Elliott is my #1 RB next year” you chuckle and give him a break. When an 81 year old NFL GM says it, you call in the guys with white coats and escort him off the property to a nice comfortable place of rest.
America's team has become American Horror Story.

If this was being said by some sad behind the times fantasy football player we would all laugh and shake our heads. This is being said by an NFL General Manager. With a straight face.

Well it will be a miracle if the Jones-led, Jones-fed, Jones-micromanaged players will ever mk real noise in the playoffs. I’ve seen this movie 28 times and I know the ending. I won $100 on the Packers game last year.

Because we have the only completely untouchable GM and son who are completely comfortable throwing whole seasons away. I’ve never seen a top shelf front office with “lifetime contracts” have big time success in the cap era.

When you have no accountability at the top, it’s completely acceptable to waste whole seasons and even the careers of hall of fame level players. Because there’s no pressure to do anything you don’t want to. Meanwhile 31 other owners hire professional GMs and hold them accountable to win or they’re gone.
This is a perfect summary of the root cause of all our woes. Well said.

Here are Zeke’s stats from last yr with the pats that make it clear he’s lost his “starter qualities”…
  • His 3.5 yards per carry was tied for the worst in the NFL last year..
  • He ranked 32nd in missed tackles forced,
  • He ranked 29th in yards after contact per attempt
  • He ranked 34th in explosive runs (carries of 10 or more yards)
Those are not NFL RB1 “starter qualities”. Could he contribute as a role player? Like maybe 5 carries a game? Maybe. RB1? Please.
Zeke was already well past his prime in his last season here. He’s not going to be anything but a great short yardage and blocking back. He has no burst and has lost a step or two. This is the kind of emotional signing by our GM who has no problems doing what’s best for his favorite ex players even if it occupies a roster spot better spent on developing a younger player.

It's a smoke screen.

Just like they said Bass and Hoffman were starters and then went out and drafted both their replacements in the first 3 rounds.

Well all the RB are drafted so I’m not seeing any smoke

And people wonder why the last 13 playoff appearances without making it to a CCG is a NFL record. Zeke no 1 RB say it ain’t so.

Zeke's a starter!

At blocking back, of course. :muttley:

If only they had addressed it last draft. It's a disaster at this point. RB #1 will be second in touches only to the QB, and also be important in pass protection. A key position once again neglected by JJ & co..

Is Dallas really planning to start Zeke or some 5th round reject at this position? I'm not in favor of using a first rounder at this position, but the team can't basically ignore it either.
Agreed, but it's funny - how many posters here were saying good running backs were "a dime a dozen" just last year? Now all of a sudden, it's "we needed to draft a rb! We needed to draft a rb".
