Jerry admits he needs to change, so where's the change?

Crushing dissent again?
It appears so. It appears that though I am the dissenting opinion on Jerry Jones it is still oppression for me to disagree. How dare I disagree with the masses and thus crush their dissent.

Another one with this fantasy that GM Jerry was just a wilted flower that stood in the corner and said yes sir to Jimmy Johnson.

He is supposedly such a meddler, yet they convince themselves that any good that happens to the team was because Jerry called in sick that day or something

I will, thank you. I'm sorry it wads up your drawers. Actually I'm not. Either you'll get over it or you won't.

Bold prediction. I'm sure you like the general manager for GM too.

Hiring a GM is not what this team needs. All this team needs if for Jerry to go back to putting at least the same amount of importance on the coaching staf as he do the players.

When he first took over the Cowboys he and Jimmy put a lot of emphasis on the coaching staff . That is the key to winning and staying on top.

our staff started getting picked apart and not replaced with someone equal or better, after our first SB win, then Jerry started dishing more money out to his star players and getting other stars, putting more emphasis on players. after the second SB we lost some more vital coaches, and we all know that Jerry what Jerry said to Jimmy, "any of 500 coaches could coach the Boys" you know what at that time Jerry was speaking the truth, we had the team and the team was self driven they needed little coaching if any.

Jerry can stay as the GM, but he needs to and I hope he has realized that he needs a top coaching staff to go with all the talented players we have.

You win games on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, during the week. That is the time the good/great coaches do there work, gameplan, execution, practices that are conducted as the team will play in the game. You practice how you want to play in the game.

He was new to the game and deferred to someone who knew better. He watched for a few years, probably figured it looked easy and then set forth about thinking he should be the influential voice of the franchise, instead of letting one of his subjects take all the glory and get all the head lines. The evidence doesn't lie; he has since driven the franchise into the ground and made it one joke after another. It thrives on the momentum of loyal fans, who despite the years of absolute deficiency, still love it.

Clowns who have had absolutely no business following in the foot steps of Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson have looked hopeless on the sidelines. Losers who had no business lining up under center to replace true great football legends were brought in in a downpour of mockery, only to give full credence to that mockery; all because this narcissist thinks he knows something 31 other GM's don't know.

No one feels so passionate about this out of ignorance, there's a great trail of failure all with Jerry Jones' name imprinted on it for anyone to see. Jones is and will remain the problem with the Cowboys.

Someone who knew better? Was Jimmy some NFL vet in 1989? Pretty sure he was a college coach he didnt know anymore about the pro game than Jerry. He knew how to coach and what kind of players he liked.

Whats more likely Jimmy Johnson with no experience running a business was given complete control or a self made billionaire business man ran things and got Jimmy what he asked for and what he needed.

Just a question, most people who are negative have SOMETHING they post positively about, but not this guy.

You are negative alot have I ever asked you that? No because while you are pissed understandably you dont slam every part and position of the team, you arent saying everyone should be cut/fired. You arent saying you arent going to care anymore etc.

The proof is in the pudding: 1-15 to Super Bowl Championship in 3 years, vs. 12+ years of ineptitude. What more evidence do you need?

Did he suddenly forget how to run a team after those 3 years? :lmao:

Now this is an insightful point because Jerry Jones was recently quoted by the media as saying that be believed that chemistry was irrelevant and that great talent is all that matters for winning. Could it be that this is what he is re-thingking when he says he is going to change some things? Could it be that Jerry has finally realized that chemistry does matter, as well as coaching leadership? If the change he is talking about bringing is rooted in that type of change in philosophy and thinking then I'm all for it.

Well, I might believe that if he didn't insist on keeping some of the duds on the coaching staff that he has here.

Bottom line is this: it's not the GM. It's not the Coach. It's not the players. It's all 3 combined. If you can get the stars aligned and have all three aspects in harmony, you are lucky. Perhaps if two of the 3 are in harmony, you can make a go of it.

Right now, this team has a lot of physical talent and if this GM and his staff can't make a go of it, the fault lies on the GM: he brought in the coaches and they can't make the most of this much talent. They must suck, therefore, so does the judgement of the GM, which is evident from years of this kind of ineptitude.

Things happened like salary cap coming into effect

Cap hell starting

Notice how the team drafting and free agency decisions are prtty good now? Is it still Jimmy doing it? No its a combo of Jerry the scouts and the coach just like it has been since the day he bought the team

Well, this is quite ironic, since Jerry is lauded as a business man. I'd imagine a man who could make a fortune in a regulated capitalist society, wouldn't have much trouble with a regulated system of buying players for his team. So much for his business acumen.

He's out of his element and should admit so. he may very well be a fantastic business man, but he is far from a fantastic football man.

Again, as I've said elsewhere, how is it that one year of good drafting erases years of ridiculous drafting? Maybe he learned something from Parcells during his tenure, but let's not anoint the guy for one years' work, especially when we have a number of years that were absolutely awful to guide our opinions of him.

Let him do it for a few years with such success before we start lauding him.
