That was an impressive performance. Rifle arm and highly accurate. No team in history has blown more high qb drafts. The blind squirrel finally found the nut.
We will find one eventually, too.

The way that Dak will get injured is when he sits in the pocket and gets blasted. Running makes him less susceptible to injury because he's a moving target. Moving targets are harder to tackle and the defense can't just tee off on him. Newton and Wilson move around a lot. I don't see them get injured if at all.

I'll bet Zack Martin, Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick wouldn't agree with that.

All Stephen (and Jerry - don't think Jerry is out of the picture) has done is overreact to the years of frustration when the team was so strapped by the salary cap they could barely make a move, including, at times, signing their own players. I suspect they will find the middle ground. Apparently they were willing to spend money on Sammy Watkins and Earl Thomas.
Many criticize stephen solely because he's Jerry's son. Klingon style. The son is guilty of the sins of the father. But that's not the case at all. If they don't get that, they're not trying too hard to see the truth. But that lack of reasoning doesn't change the fact. Stephen's a sharp guy.

Right, when he was much more of a running QB. Landry wanted to change that.
Landry wanted to protect his investment. He brought back the shotgun just to give roger a bit more time to see things developing. He limited dorsett's carries extending his career. The idea of a coach or front office person trying to protect a player isn't exactly a novel thought. Except here.

lol - yep, that's true. Some of our fans have a tendency to think that whatever they disagree with is a new thing that the current Cowboy coaches just dreamed up, when that's usually not the case at all. Garrett and company haven't got the job done, but that is likely just that they aren't as good as some coaches are, but the problem has never been that they have stupid ideas that no other coach/team has or has had. As for Dorsett, I brought up the same thing when people started complaining that Zeke actually came off the field once in awhile, but some won't acknowledge that there is actually a reasonable thought behind anything the Cowboys do.

Not with todays rules. Running QB's do not last long typically, but QB's who can slide or side step a rush and still get rid of the ball are typically more successful. The only protection they get during a run is if they slide, otherwise they can get hit just like any RB/WR/TE.

Eli found that out last week

Dak isn’t built like the twig Romo was (no offense) and he also isn’t the passer Romo was. It’s okay to use these players to their strengths

interesting quote

"...Now here is where things get interesting. Cowboys VP and Jones' eventual successor Stephen Jones went on his radio show on 105.3 The Fan on Monday (h/t Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News) and sang a very different tune. He said “You can’t just consistently serve your quarterback up as a runner... I can’t necessarily see our plan being to run Dak 8-10 times a game. I think you use it to set everything else up.” Essentially, this suggests a philosophical schism between the two leaders of the Jones family. The patriarch wants Prescott to run so that the Cowboys can win now. The successor wants Prescott to stay in the pocket to preserve his health. ..."

the more Dak runs, the more you put him in line of getting hit and injured. win now? maybe 5 or 6 games...and get Dak hurt.... I don't advocate running the QB....except very selectively and not every week.
And insist unless he is 1st and 10 at the goaline..

that he get down and slide.

Nothing headfirst.

This is not Mississippi State.

Most likely. But I don't think anyone's role changes. And Stephen is probably next in line.
I also seem to recall his wife Gene saying she wouldn’t want any of her kids under the same scrutiny or role ( don’t remember exact phrase) her husband has placed himself.

I think it’s more likely Stephen might assume the President of football operations but deter the GM and VP role. My hunch is this where Jason comes in.

If thats the case, we are really screwed.
