I'm not. I like Payton but with Drew Brees at QB he like McCarthy won 1 SB. I don't think Payton is that big of a difference maker. Certainly not willing to give up 1st and likely more than just a 1st.
I want someone new. I really don't see the difference in Payton and McCarthy. People have revisionist history now but Sean Payton use to also have some crazy coaching mistakes including clock management. He's getting by on reputation. Why his reputation is better than McCarthy's...I don't know.

Be quiet Jerrah. If the "prettiest girl" in the room (Sean Payton for example), walked up to you or called you wanting to come to Dallas, YOU WOULD FIRE MIKE M. instantly. THIS is the truth. The caveat might be asking price as far as draft picks. I wouldn't do it. I think Sean is overrated.

Fat Mikey is about as good of puppet as we could probably hope for .

I really can’t see Sean playing a puppet role . Much better full autonomy jobs available in AZ, LV and Den. Maybe LA.
Payton would be a puppet too. I really don't know where this reputation of Payton is coming from. If he comes to Dallas he would be a puppet.

In my opinion he is. And the combination of Payton coaching offense and Fangio coaching the defense is better than McCarthy and whoever ultimately replaces Quinn.
Yes on Fangio. Its debatable with MM and Sean. I see little difference.

CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
At what point does a fan drop the ridiculous idea they know anything about the inner workings of this game and realize the coach puts people in positions to succeed, but the players , either through lack of talent, intelligence, or discipline blows assignments, thus the team loses?

And, with this franchise there will always be a head coach that defers to Jerry Jones, as Jerry Jones is the face of the team and gives press conferences as if he is the head coach.

Twenty-seven years of disappointment and what is the common denominator?

Why would any legit HC come here unless their phone isn’t ringing.
I think L.A is out. That team is wrecked. They have 0 draft picks for the next 2 years. He doesn't want a clusterbleep. I feel McVay will leave. I see Sean in either Houston or Zona.

I would just as soon stay with McCarthy. He was not my 1st choice when he was hired but frankly have not been disappointed. This season QB goes down after 1st game and everyone wrote this team off. McCarthy was able to get through that situation and still produced a 12 game winning team. I think people wanting change for the sake of change will often times be very disappointed, fans in my view are too quick to turn on players and coaches

Aye i'm in the same boat. I was pissed the hired him. I'm by no means a McCarthy fan. But he's done enough to not get replaced by Sean Payton. If they want to go in a different direction with a new guy I wouldn't be upset but Mike has not been that bad. I do think he should be fired if we get smoked by the Buccs though. But I don't expect that to happen.

Of course Jerry ever the optimist,.. is definitely gonna say all of the positive, right, and encouraging things right now
... especially prior to the big curtain moments of the playoffs - do or die time.
Who saw his precious boy wonder genius Jason Garrett getting canned after being anointed here for an entire decade ?

- If not the Sean Payton option as new HC, i can see a definite major change in the asst. coaching staff - starting with the coordinators.
Quinn would be expected to move on as HC elsewhere ... while a major decision and change could be made with the OC.

- More so, imo ..With a new DC, team will have to promote from within, where i can see Joe Witt Jr, or George Edwards Jr,. taking over
charge of the Quinn- like defenses. What they themselves add or evolve will be a huge key.
They have to fix this defense - that has struggled vs backup QBs, poor run defense and reinvent the disappearing pass rush
Have to decide how to best utilize - and preserve most elite player we have in Parsons.

- McCarthy cannot be trusted to bring his old buddies in again (ala Mike Nolan)
His downfall in GB, was his stubborness to finally fire his longtime, but clearly declining DC

- If McCarthy stays on as HC, i could see a promotion of current consultant Brian Schottenheimer elevated to new OC, or Co-OC.
Or adding longtime OL coach Jessie Campen while promoting Philibin to OC. (longtime OC with Mac in GB)

Could Kellen be " demoted' to a different position on the team? .., or be dismissed and fired from the team altogether ?

And why I can’t see him coming here.

But I can see why fans would want him.
I don't see why people would want him. I'd go as far as to say he underachieved factoring in he had Brees as his quarterback. Payton had some good teams along for that ride.

Not to mention, 2 years left on his contract. Fire him now means paying him and maybe several assistant coaches.

This is one of the flat out richest organizations and empires in the entire world.

Coaches contracts and salaries do not impact the team players roster cap at all.
There's no restrictions and limits at all.

Do you really think just a few million impacts this team ?
If the eyes on the prize is flat out on Sean Payton, Mac's current contract owned is not gonna matter.

I agree giving up top draft picks to NO on the other hand is not something I would like to see. I think Payton is a very good HC and I have a lot of respect for him but not so much I would be willing to part with a 1st and likely more

Anyways they say the same thing every time, especially when things are going bad, they always have the right things to say! Just shut up
Shutting up isn't an option. You should know that. He can't just not answer the questions.

Man some of our fans our SO CLUELESS.
How many 12-5 back to back coaches (or similar records) have ever been fired or ever will be fired in the future?
we agree. Especially with what this team had to endure and overcome this year. This was a feat!
