The last pick in the 4th round isn't much. They wanted to get a young qb after not drafting one this year.
It depends on what your getting for that 4th. Might be better drafting one.
Jerry made the deal only because lance was a 1st round pick, he loves 1st round picks even if they are a bust and everyone can
see it except jerry and a few others.( I am pretty sure jerry hadnt done ANY research on lance before making the deal)
Lance may work out , at least as bkup, but odds are against that, especially him ever being a good starting qb.

Remember when Jerry traded for wheedon? said he threw the prettiest passes he has ever seen, had to cut him 2 years after .
Jerry only got him because yes he was a former 1st round pick. he was a bust here too
Also Rolando McClain former 1st round pick another experiment with a guy who was a bust due to being crazy lol.
That lasted 2 years also. Jones got 1 decent season out of Ro, but didnt play in playoffs, and was a bust after that, got suspended and never
came back.

I'm not sure how Dallas got this lucky to be honest. A mid round pick for at the very least QB depth seems reasonable. We know Rush isn't a year long starter.

They got an extra year up front.

When has Jerry ever made a trade that wasn’t for the immediate?

Jerry don’t do business for 3 or 4 years down the line.
Patience as when the interceptions, fumbles, inaccurate passes, and sacks start stinking up our offense and we are kicking FG after FG again they will hide in the shadows thinking of new excuses for the chosen one!!!! :muttley:

Jerry has never been short on pride. He still gives himself the lone credit for the 3 in the 90's
Not true but a folk ballad instead. He gives credit to the whole group involved.

They call us haters.
Honestly, I sincerely believe Dak is trying his best out there and please believe me when I say that.
He just doesn't have what it takes to lead a team to the Super Bowl.
Stats and padding them is his right of passage and he takes advantage every time we find a dog we can beat on.
Talent is God-given and Dak was holding an umbrella!!!
Here's hoping that he does enough NOT to lose the game for us vs NY.

A fourth for a third overall QB just a couple years ago is a bad decision??? Push the call button and tell your nurse it’s medicine time old man.
>50% of first rounds QBs flop. San Fran that may run the most QB friendly offense in the league couldn’t make it work with this guy. They thought the last pick in the draft (Purdy) and a failed 1st round pick that hasn’t succeed anywhere, and was newer to the system, were better than a guy they gave up a ransom for. Not to mention Brandon Allen who he also couldn’t beat out.

yes and i read 1 other team was, but not for a 4th round pick, and not as a potential or definite future starting qb.
I think the other 2 were looking at him as a possible good #2.

Jerry decided in seconds he was a potential or definite franchise qb.
Since jerry is so much smarter than other GM's he knew he could "fix" lance because he was a round 1 pick.
Detroit, Baltimore, and Buffalo showed interest. And talk about "speculation". Do you really think nfl teams didn't know the 49ers might be ready to move on from Lance? All they had to do was see their depth chart. McCarthy said he wasn't in on the business end but was on the evaluation. You know that McClay and the player personnel people would be involved in this as well.

Name all these top qbs that Shanahan's qb friendly system has produced. He's had nothing but mediocre spares. RG3 was the closest they came to a top guy and they ruined him by playing him on a bad knee.
