they missed not because they lacked running game or the offense struggled. they had 200 less rushing yards for the year. their defense was good too, but each season plays differently. they didn't miss the playoffs because of 200 less rushng yards....

I never said that was why they missed the playoffs, so you and your straw man can go have a drink and think of me.

You said Pittsburgh was "fine" without Bell. I simply noted they have a HOF QB and missed the playoffs - that's not "fine" if you're a team with title aspirations.

And that might be what Elliott wants. We haven’t heard from him yet.
IF THATS truly what he wants...this is a chicken bleep way to go about it. Communication is best. Be careful what ya wish for Zeke, you might get it.

Same guy that threw his college coach under the bus...imagine that.
Yeah. I love Zeke. I want him back more than most. But this has got stick in Jerry’s craw, or ***. Whatever.

Zeke is not going to risk carrying the offense for the next two years, watch Dak and Cooper get paid, and then get told he is too used up for a big pay day.
People act as if he hasn't gotten paid his contract averaged 6.2m per season thru the 1st 4 season and with the 5th year option it is just under 7m per season. He has not been underpaid, if he wanted to hold out he should have waited until next season

It’s no secret I never liked the guy. Great player but at some point I separate player from person and I did that with Zeke when we drafted him. I’ve never liked him as a person for several reasons, didn’t like Hardy, didn’t like Beasley, etc...but this is the moron we’re stuck with.

Much to my dismay, I think he’ll be a Cowboy for most of his career, I just hope everyone thinks he was worth it in the end (including me).

Well.. If they did have long term plans for him then signing him now is not the worst thing.
we don't have the cap to sustain the team if we do this now. It will do more harm than good. Economics 101. He needs to wait his turn.

That would be the ideal situation.

But I’m not as certain we don’t have the Cap to sustain.

If that’s true why did Stephen say they already offered or the starting point was Gurley type contract ?

His leverage is this team relies on him. Not dak. It relies on Zeke. It goes through Zeke. The team is built for him.

Exxactly.......we may get by a few games without him but to think we can have an entire successful with him holding out is unrealistic. Just a matter of time before the league/defensive coordinators will make the offense 100% one dimensional.

Lol what?? This offense is 90% Zeke. They created this monster and now it is turning on them. They used Zeke as a 4th pick and 1st round picks on 3 of the 5 OL we have. I have always said that is way too much investment in trying to force an outdated scheme to work in a pass happy league where passing the ball is much more rewarding and easier than ever. And it has nothing to do with Dak. He was forced into an offense where he is so dependent on Zeke and the run game. It is the equivalent of thinking a dog would survive if you threw it out in the wild after making him so dependent on their owner. Of course this offense wil look like junk when you take away the main thing that makes it run.

They should have created a much better offense that focuses on the QB and his skillset. Dak is great when you have him make quick reads and get the ball out quick. But nope, they have him run the same junk where he has to stand in the pocket forever waiting for slow developing routes downfield.

The line makes the running back. It did BEFORE Zeke with both Murray and McFadden and it will again. It's exactly why I was against using the #4 overall pick on Elliott at the time. If you invest that much in the line, they make running backs, not vice versa.

Yep

But apparently we have fans who need to see it again to believe.

Maybe Jerry's so upset he’ll let Elliott sit and see how the season unfolds before scampering out of the press box to save the season and his new 30 million dollar QB?
Maybe you're scared to see Dak and this offense do well without Zeke, just proving you wrong about Dak, Greg? :muttley:

All of my South Texas Cowboys friends are ticked off at Zeke. Some even want him traded for being so ungrateful.
I suppose it’s a matter of perspective.

I’ve learned not to take these contract issues personal. It’s strictly the business of the NFL. There’s no loyalty in this league anymore.

Actually this is the time that Zeke has the most leverage name another time that he will have more then now.
 ya,cuz' he's likely destined to the histories dustbin of "what an idiot, had the proverbial world by the *** & he kills that gifted opportunity by his own hand
But you always claim how smart he is, a smart player wouldn’t sign that.
Ha, he's the smartest idiot in a room full of sub par idiots,,,er,,,maybeo_O

Don't expect it will come to that but IF it does, the Bucs would the team to watch. They are begging for an RB, any to step up and Adrian hates rookies. They are making one last attempt to save Winston career. What better friend a struggling QB like Winston can have than an elite RB like Zeke. Zeke would automatically make them a 500 team.

Or Zeke would struggle playing behind a sub-par Oline?
